The reason Knox has drop issues
Kelly the Dog replied to benderbender's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There were at least a few different videos this year where it was 100% clear that he turned to look downfield right as the ball was coming to him. He's a YAC guy. That's very fixable. -
[Incomplete Title] PFF’s all-pro team has ...

Any system is grossly inefficient if it must assign fault to a single player on a deeper pass when it is quite often an assortment of factors. -
What are your expectations for the game this Saturday
Kelly the Dog replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even though I have huge reservations about McDermott as game day coach I predict he and his coordinators will outcoach Bill OBrien and the Bills squeak out a win. -
The reason Knox has drop issues
Kelly the Dog replied to benderbender's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. He drops are way different than, say, Zay Jones drops. Zay had the tips. Knox tries to run before he secures it. Very likely to improve with experience. I'm not worried about his hands one bit. He has great hands. He should become a huge weapon. -
Is the NFL really a passing league?
Kelly the Dog replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With regard to Lamar, who I agree is an anomaly and will likely never duplicate this season, it is pretty clear that his lofty passing stats were much more due to teams worrying about his running, versus lofty running stats because teams were worried about his passing. Many of his TDs were to guys left all alone. -

Houston Tailgate Official Info

Thanks for all your info in this thread. -
It was a joke but Daboll had no real power when he was at Bama or at NE. WEO was right about that. He was awful at every OC job although he had crap to work with. But he was horrible. That is a fact. I have mixed feelings about Daboll myself. There is a good deal to like and a good deal to question. I also think McD holds him back to some degree. Josh is a stud arm talent. It's off the charts. He is a stud athlete. It's off the charts. He is smart, has a fabulous work ethic, and is very coachable. Daboll had nothing to do with that. It's impossible to know whether a different guy would have helped Josh more or less, but Josh clearly likes him so I want him to stay at least another year before I would think about getting rid of him.

It happens. Zay Jones caught six balls for 93 yards and two TDs in a game last season. That doesn't mean he is any good or capable of playing his position well in this league either.
-
His first step after he got that second sack was the quickest acceleration I have seen out of him since he came to the Bills, so I believe the bonus part. I also agree that he is a decent player and paid going rate for his production when he is healthy.
-
Yep, it's the double whammy. He doesn't have the arm, and he is slow moving. So even when he does feel the pressure he cannot escape well. I didn't think it was a good signing to begin with and have said all this numerous times here, even with the Jet game last year. He's smart, and he is capable of throwing some timing passes. He probably helps Josh. But he cannot play the position well enough.

Actually it's all you need to know. When a player is physically incapable of playing the position all it takes is one game. If that.

Levi Wallace - sprained ankle, day to day

That guy can be invisible at 5 different positions! -
Levi Wallace - sprained ankle, day to day

Yep. That is how I see it. He can play in certain situations but he cannot cover man well. KJ is fine. We just can't afford another injury. -
Levi Wallace - sprained ankle, day to day

It's good news for sure. I am one who thinks K Johnson is as good as Wallace as the starter. But Wallace is not a guy who is able to play unless he is 100%. He's barely fast enough on two good ankles. -
The issue has nothing to do with who he is playing with or against. The issue is he cannot throw the requisite passes to be a decent QB in this league. It's always been the case, it's why he was a late round pick, it is why he has been released by 3-4 teams. He is not going to get better, it is why he has 10 TDs and 21 INTS and a 66 rating in his career.
-
He's terrible and doesn't have the requisite arm to play in the NFL more than a game or two. He's always been this way and even in his Jet game he didn't show that he could make throws he needed to, he could have been intercepted a few different times. He's not much better than Peterman and has the same problems. He's not mobile enough to avoid the rush, and he is slow.

Going for it on fourth down is almost always a no brainer to either kick or go for it. The 10-20% that it's actually a choice is often due to outside factors. Like a couple times when McD went for it on 4th down it was because he had zero confidence in his injured kicker. That was an easy decision, and neither shows aggressiveness nor being conservative.
