Damn Allen needs to go through his progressions in the pocket (sarcasm)
-
100% agreed, I cant believe people think he is a decent passer. I have yet to see throws out of him like we have seen out of Allen. Yes Allen is still playing "backyard football." However he has also made some big league impressive throws when given time in the pocket. Jackson only throws to wide open guys and usually after moving the pocket around. I also dont understand how some think Jackson has limited supporting cast. He has the next best running game after Mayfield to support him... And John Brown, Snead, and Crabtree to throw to. The sad part is, is you are 100% correct yet people still go "Allen needs to stop running!" Lol his biggest hits have come from being in the pocket (including his injury)

I agree with this as far as current ranking of the QB's... now Mayfield was who I was hoping we would get so I like seeing him succeed (Brown fans deserve it too)... but honestly I feel like Mayfield is kind of at his ceiling already. I watch him, he makes some gutsy throws/decisions - looks like a good QB and will be solid for a long time. Allen seems to be mostly improving every game, and obviously has the measurable's that COULD put him over the edge later. Obviously though no one really knows at the point and its all speculation

Mostly agree with your assessment, except Rosen. I have been following him and I dont think he brings much upside. I was originally in the "wrong Josh" crowd come draft day... but wow I dont think Rosen looks good at all. Slow, has made some poor reads/decisions... his arm looks weaker than I thought. He can throw the ball far, but seems to lack zip on intermediate-deep throws.

Odd considering before the Jets game Allen was leading the league in Air yards per pass... but yeah he is a checkdown masta

Did anyone notice something about Sam Darnold?
PolishPrince replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We havent had 300 throwing yards in a game since Orton LOL In fairness Josh should have vs Minnesota, but they only had him throw the ball like 2 times in the second half -
Damn, kid plays 8 games with one of the worst supporting casts I have ever seen and you already decide he wont win any super bowls. Allen even against Jets looked better than Russell Wilson tonight (he has a superbowl - I also love RW so its not a stab at him)... what about Flacco? Dilfer? Kapernik even went to a super bowl lol. Goff was pretty bad this sunday, will he never win a SB? The problem is all QB's have misses. A lot of QB's have WR's who will make a great catch for them to bail them out of a crappy throw. I dont know if its because we are so used to seeing Brady or what, but even the good QB's dont hit every throw with 100% accuracy... I just watched the Monday night game. RW3 and Cousins both looked worse than Allen to me (at least this week) - missing reads and inaccurate throws. Both are considered good QB's, both also had their best WR's laying out or making amazing catches to bail out their QB. A lot of people point to Darnold looking so much better this sunday. Darnold looked good in his last drive - ill give him that for sure. But for some reason we forget Darnold had just as crappy of an INT to Edmunds, and should have thrown a second... but Levi Wallace has been hanging around Zay Jones too much. If Levi Wallace makes that catch, and/or Darnold doesnt run behind our line for 12 seconds to throw a TD, how does the narrative change between Allen and Darnold?

So glad you called him out. Even after seeing screen shots he was still justifying his position LOL -

Same thing I keep seeing people say about Allen passes where he barely misses a throw and someone goes "well across the field he had an even easier throw he just didnt see it." I watched Cousins throw to his backup tight end (this was right after the same guy had a Zay Joneseque drop) and he is stopped one yard short of first down... well Rudolph was MORE open and had enough for First down, but Cousins going through his progressions had a play with a faster read (even though someone was MORE open elsewhere). The fact is sadly is because Allen was made to sound super inaccurate and cant make reads coming out of college, people are going to over react to every little slightly off throw or "not the best" read. Its kind of driving me nuts tbh, i've disliked most of Bills since Bledsoe, but Allen has shown a crap ton of potential and to me as thrown MANY MORE fantastic "dime throws" than he has missed easy ones. Throws we havent seen since Bledsoe -
I think this was on the go ahead FG drive right? This is another aspect often overlooked when we want to "compare QB's." Look at where the LOS is for this second down play. We seem to get a lot of first down penalties resulting in these deep downs forcing us to throw and throw "far," obviously our non-existent run game doesnt help this.

We will just disagree. I wanted Darnold over Allen before draft. Now I’m in the opposite boat. And no no if he was a Bill I would not be annointing him the next big thing. In fact Allen is the first time I have felt strongly about a Bills QB before and I didn’t even want him before the draft. im sorry “Darnold made plays on the road to win”. He was starting all drives on our side of the field facing literally 0 pressure. Any pro QB should be fine in this situation lol. Allen working with much less talent was constantly starting deep in our own territory. Our ST even gave them the ball on the 50 yard line in his game winning drive meanwhile Allen is starting at our own what 15? Darnold made the final TD pass, he made a couple big plays on his last drive sure. But this game is a blowout if ST was worth any sort of damn. Our defense held jets to nothing for yardage for 3 quarters. i would take Anderson, Enunwa, Herndon over Clay, Zay and our thrown together misfit WR every time. Oh yeah, and that McQwire guy looked decent running, we have 0 run game to take pressure off Allen, meanwhile jets have done a decent job on the ground all year. our offense is literally Allen. That’s a lot to put on a “raw project rookie who shouldn’t start his first year” yet Allen is doing a damn fine job minus a couple throws a game. Plus another overlooked thing is Allen has the intangibles and leadership, I don’t see the same in Darnold at all. Yes I’ve been following him all year, I like most have been very interested in all the QB’s from this class

Well Allen did have a TD, a rushing TD after dodging their defense in our backfield per usual.... I just also disagree with this "less accomplished throwing the ball." Darnold also had a really stupid/bad pick, and STILL leads the league in INT's even after his four week hiatus. Allen also threw for more yards. The only difference is completion percentage. If you factor in the 5-6 or whatever routine drops our WR's made (Darnolds crew didnt drop any) than Allen's completion percent is only 1% less than Darnold, but add in about another 100 yards almost doubling Sam's. So the real difference is Sam had a throwing TD, and 1 less INT... then again Sam's TD came on a 12 second play where he still was barely threatened and not hit. I bet Allen's thinking that kind of time must be nice

I disagree he runs too much. This isnt Lamar Jackson running constantly... When Allen runs he is picking up 15, 25, 45 yards at a time. He runs about half as much as Lamar Jackson yet is still putting up more yards. Plus I dont get why people complain about Allen's running. Are we really complaining about a 25 yard gain third down just because he ran instead of threw?
-
"looked poised and made fewer bad plays" and "Darnold had no pressure, good field position all game." You dont think maybe one of these above led to the other? From pretty much first snap Allen got his ass kicked by the Jets D due to our complete lack of a line. Then factor in about 6 terrible drops right in the hands... meanwhile darnold's WR are making high extended contested grabs on our DB's. If Allen gets ANY help from this team, its a blow out. I still dont get all these people ranking Darnold ahead of Allen after one game, where the rest of the Bills decided to not show up. The same people gripe about Allen's accuracy, meanwhile Darnold LEADS THE LEAGUE IN INTERCEPTIONS - and he has missed 4 games lol

Week 14: Bills vs. Jets Postgame
PolishPrince replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there is two things going overlooked after the game with Allen's play today that impressed me. One was the back shoulder throw to Foster, yes people have mentioned it, but when is the last time we have seen a BILLS qb make that throw? The other play was the Offside and allen lofted a soft ball to Zay just to see what would happen. This was the type of heads up play we have cursed the Bills for never taking advantage for, and Allen in just what his 8th game ever, took advantage and got us a huge chunk play... these are yards that wont show up on his stats either Honestly this is the only reason I have been mad at our last two losses. TBH overall I dont care we lost, season was a wash for the start and so far we have over achieved compared to what most analysts pegged us starting the season. I am mad though that Allen has put this team on his back, and every drive and almost every play his cast is just letting him down. I almost feel like I want the wins more for Allen than myself at this point lol -

Are you one of the several here forgetting that Darnold is LEADING THE NFL IN INTERCEPTIONS, and has missed 4 games to injury lol -

He is also facing the leagues highest pressure percentage lol.... And where do the 5-6 drops factor in? All in guys chests (literally bouncing off Zay's chest) -
