Why wasn't Duke Williams active?
Rocbillsfan1 replied to HailMary's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s not a bad point. If lee smith is only going to get 3 snaps why is he active? I know you want depth in case of an injury but you should be able to game plan around that. -

I sit McKenzie he is a greater risk of fumbling and I don’t want Hyde just fair catching punts all game. Plus the injury risk is too high for Hyde. -

This is football not a 40 yard dash and yes Williams is way stronger and bigger than brown. Those are just facts. -
Well they’ve been pretty good for a while including last season with the same rbs.

I know we hate ne but it makes sense in terms of roles for the rbs

And honestly that makes sense. with the stakes so high in professional sports you will look for any competitive advantage you can. But the patriots have completely gone over the line multiple times to the point where it has seriously jeopardized the integrity of the game. Listening to John Murphy right now and I’m convinced this is serious and he is doing damage control for the league. I’m sure he’s gotten word to try to minimize the damage this could do to the league. Even though it’s a rival something like this could reek havoc on the league and the nfl could take another big pr hit. I’m sure the owners are pissed behind the scenes with the patriots but I would bet most owners do not want the negative fallout that could happen with the questioning of the integrity and fairness of the league the last 20 years.

I’m sorry but the point has been made over and over again how well the patriots organization is run and how smart they are. They knew full well what they were doing and that it was wrong. Their story is complete garbage. If you’re there to film some bogus tv program about a scout then why is the crew filming the sideline for 8 plus minutes. No part of that would be able to be used on your stupid show anyways. Nfl must come down hard.

And just when I thought I couldn’t dislike Steven a smith even more he had to open his mouth. I don’t even mind the other guys take of well maybe so maybe not with cheating but Steven a is saying they are and have been cheating so what. why aren’t the other teams cheating then? It’s their fault for also not breaking the rules. That’s the point you want to make? Like really? This is why the nfl has to come in and do something and end this bull####.

But but the coaches lol. Holy crap people use your brains. I don’t have the time to post all the clips of John brown also not getting any separation when teams have played press coverage and Allen was forced to throw a quick slant to him. Multiple times this play has failed. Just throw a freaking slant guy, duke has a much bigger window to throw to then John brown. They aren’t the same type of receiver. John brown has been great at running routes when he is given time and mostly against a zone and is wide open. Most of these throws resulted in 0 yac. That Dallas touchdown was the most yac he’s had al year and again it was because he slipped behind the defender in zone coverage. Just watch the duke td again that’s the play we needed him for. No one is saying he is a wr 1. He’s a situational player that should be a red zone target that’s it. Stop throwing it to John brown who has no window because he is small and has trouble playing physical. Check the tape. -
Singletary should play the role Sony Michel does in NE and yeldon the role of white. Maybe keep gore activated in case of emergency but that’s it he’s pretty much toast.

Maybe so, but it’s always been part of the role like it or not as a fan or member of the media to be critical of the head coach’s decisions. And the obvious elephant in the room right now should be why is gore on the field and why is duke Williams not on the field in situations where he can contribute to help this team. -

Oh really? So you don’t think fan pressure or media pressure hasn’t played in coach’s decisions before? Being a stubborn meathead is usually what gets coaches fired. I like McDermott but he’s left me scratching my head a few times in the past, and usually he has done a good job improving from those mistakes. People should be on him and Daboll for their questionable use of players on the offense.
