It is a nightmare. Unfortunately when the Jets traded up to 3 the writing was on the wall. I think there’s still a chance we could get up there and get Mayfield but the Jets trade hurt very badly. Moreso than many want to admit, especially at obd.

To be fair he’s always been somewhat relevant. The guy was a first round pick and looked pretty good against us in a few of his drives. I think he can still be an adequate player in the right situation. Provided he can ever get out of his own way that is.

People use that tactic when theyre grasping at straws. I think it’s the best strategy for this team, this year. You see thats how opinions work. Imo, the best course of action for this team are to trade up and take their shot, I feel very strongly given the cirmustances around this situation. Where did I say it’s the only way? I said imo it’s the best course of action for this team, right now. If anyone’s painting anything it’s you painting me into a box to fit your narrative. That, IMO, is the lazy way to have a discussion. I mean, it’s obvious one and three are taking qbs. That leaves the Giants who could possibly be interested in drafting a qb or trading the pick to a qb needy team. I dont understand how a reasonable or logical person could guarantee that with any amount of certainty.

Exactly. This is the draft we’ve been accruing picks for. This is the draft with three viable qbs (imo). This is the time. People would prefer we dabble in mediocrity another 17 years. Or worse yet wait until we actually have a four win season and pick top three where there would be no guarantees there would be a guy worth picking? Take the shot.

...and just like that the draft went from slightly unrealistic (but still fun) to madden. Player trades should have have been banned.

I mean, I know it’s not all on Eli but the team is picking top five. How good could the quarterback really be? He needs a good team around him, one pick isn’t going to do it and he’s not going to be around much longer. If you’re smart you take this opportunity to get his replacement. Chances like this don’t come around this often. Good qbs, #2 pick. You pull the trigger. Especially since they know a team only goes as far as the qb allows. As a Bills fan I hope this isn’t the case, but if I was in charge it’s exactly what I’d do.
