  1. Beanes admission that he did not have sufficient information on the QB's to trade up at the time the Jets did is very telling  about the Jets organization., I think they traded up to third  in hopes  of getting a QB , any QB. They were not selective at the point of trading up and  were just waiting to see what there fortunes were. They selected Darnold because it was the SAFE pick. Kind of reminds me of some of the drafts the Bills in bygone years used to do , by going  along with the "drugstore  " list . Darnold was the safe pick  because he was rated  the number one QB pick by most of the drugstore lists. IF , the rumor is true that the Jet scouts wanted Allen in the draft , I am glad we have Beane for our GM.

  2. I am an Allen fan and have been leading up to the draft and was ecstatic when the Bills chose him . Now it seems that a lot of the true professionals  in football  are saying they were and are Allen supporters. I took a fair amount of flak for my position but everybody is entitled to their opinion.

  3. Supposedly, Arizona had a trade worked out with Denver to move up to five. It all went to hell because of Chubb's availability to Denver. They were going to take Allen. The Colts didn't want to trade because of Nelson being available to them. That left the Buc's and Beane outbid the Cardinal's. The Cardinals were Distraught by the turn of events and had to settle for Rosen. Rumor has it that the Jets scouts wanted their GM to take Allen but he didn't have the stones to. The thing that if it is true that the Bronco's GM .Elway had a tacit agreement with the Cardinals  , did Beane know about it and was Elways price too high for the Bills. or was Elway screwing the Bills.

  4. Murph andTasker had a poll on today that wanted to know when we should start Allen at QB.  It ranged from start the first game to middle of the season to not this year. Some idiots said NEVER. They were  8% of the callers. That is what i talking about in a previous post on this subject. There are "fans" who want the Bills to fail. They revel over  a players short comings or supposed failures. Psychologically . i presume you could have a ball with suppositions of their psychosis. I am not a learned Psychologist by any stretch so , i think they are people who  sadly life has passed over and they want everybody to feel their pain. This is is my ammeter opinion.

  5. We will have the false fans i feel forever. They are the ones who delight in the trials of others and lurk on the fringes and will pounce when a player has a problem or supposed problem , and then trumpeted to all who will listen. There were numerous times last year when this happened. They are not Bills fans. Sadly , we will have to put up with them.

Griping and Monday morning quarterbacking are part of being a fan.   In fact, it's part of the fun.

But I do object to the arrogance of some fans who are convinced they are smarter than Brandon Bean and his entire staff of scouts.

Collectively our Bills scouts have spent thousands of hours evaluating this draft class, interviewing players; talking to coaches, family and friends; studying tape; and so on.

And yet Biff from Cheektowaga - who has no training as scout, didn't attend the combine, has never seen any of these players in person, and didn't spend millions of dollars on due diligence grandiosely pronounces Beane an incompetent idiot for choosing X.    It can be a little hard to swallow sometimes.

These kinds of comments are offensive to the professionals.  Think about your own profession and how ridiculous it can be to have people who don't know crap give you advice or pronounce judgment in your area of expertise.

Beane is much smarter about football than Biff, whatever pretensions Biff may have.  The question is whether Beane is smarter than the other NFL GMs.  We'll be able to intelligently judge that over time by seeing what kind of roster he builds.

This is dumb, your glossing over "Yes, this is a different FO", that's all that matters, this Front office and Coaching staff have earned the benefit of the doubt, they've made nothing but great moves that ended the drought in one season, did a complete turnover of the roster and fixed the salary cap.

Two great posts, Couldn't agree more.

I have no idea if Allen was the right pick, but Beane and McDermott know a lot more about football than I ever will.  They broke a 17 year playoff drought in their 1st year in Buffalo.  I don’t consider myself a mindless sheep, but they certainly deserve the benefit of the doubt more than any previous Bills regime this century.

I totally agree !!! Opinions are like ##sholes, everybody has one. But the Negatively gets me.

Since that's not my knock, that's a straw man to me.  I don't think you have to have worked for an NFL FO to know something about football or to evaluate a guy.

"Whatchutalkinabout, Dog?"  Plenty of folks here opining.  Most of the folks I regard as experts right here to be found.

Not talking about you Hapless, you are always on .

  9. I am sick of the detractors of the front office  , with their rants about what could have been. What are your credentials ? Do you have any other than you are a negative person for mast things the front office does. Maybe the picks won't  work out but the the FO has invested time, intellect , scouting by a group of people who bet their jobs on the outcome. I will bet that this FO knows what they are doing. You sir , can continue on with your negative attitude about the Bills and we will continue on hoping for success. It is more fun to be positive than negative. Try it sometime.

    No, that was Andy Dalton.

Actually, any FO in the NFL knows very little more than the conventional wisdom regarding the draft pecking order.

I will agree Beane knows a LOT more about what GMs were asking for in terms of trades and draft movement and we don't know anything on that, other than what may be reported, if you can believe it.

Dalton played 16 games for the Bills , including coaching duties and player development,????Where was the draft packing order mentioned. ?

J believe the topic was the draft and the trades were adequatly reported , what do you not believe about them/

  11. The lemmings sure were in evidence for the first 40 pages of the post. It is pathetic to see one lemming trying to outdo another and the stupidity that ensues. Alright , you do not agree with anything the Bills front office does and that is your right but it can be and was carried to extremes tonight. This F.O. got us to our first playoff  win in 17 years . I think maybe you should cool your heels and realize that the scouts and Beane know a hell of a lot more about the players than you do. They also know  what it takes to move within the draft.

  12. I am not a Mayfield  supporter . I heard a report today and didn't get the guys name , but he said Mayfield's time in the 40 was between 4.8 -4.9. That gives me pause because as a running QB he will be in trouble every time he rolls out as most of the pursuit is made up of people who run far less than 4.8. Even some of the linemen do better than 4.8. What does the Baker supporters say in his defense.

  13. 2016 - Goff and Wendt

    2017-- Watson and Mahones

2018-- Darnold, Rosen , Allen , and Mayfield.

I totally expect Beane to go up to 2 , Accomplishing  it by going to 4 , 5 , 0r 6 and then to 2. I will defer to Beane in the selection as he knows infinitely more about the players than I do. Also , more than the posters on this board who claim to know . If the pick doesn't,t work out , then you try again. That is why we had those picks in the first place , to get a QB , not to perk up the rest of the roster.

Saquon Barkley is being labeled as a better prospect that Ezekial Elliot, and some saying the best RB prospect since Adrian Peterson...We all saw last year what a GREAT run game (or lack of) can do to someone like Dak Prescott (who can only be considered a mediocre qb at best IMO after last year).

So why not trade up and get Barkley while all these other teams are shooting dice on all qbs?  Would you be upset if the Bills went up and got Barkley at 2 with NY?  Obviously you'd then commit the rest of your draft to building a dominant O-Line.

Ain't going to happen. The Giants  , if we trade up to 2 will want assurances that we will not draft any players they want. I think the Giants want Barkley  and they would be pissed.

  15. You neglected to read the rest of the post or did not understand that i said the GM has to do his thing.

A few years ago Blaine Gabbert and Jake Locker were the best QB in the draft and the same people that said that now say these 4 guys are all that.  Maybe that has something to do with it?

We'll all find out what they're gonna do when they do it.  Your guess is as good as mine (which is probably wrong).

I'm not sure your analogy is sound.  By closing time, the girls left may look pretty good to you.  Isn't this the phenomenon behind the Bills fans once-common fear to expose that budding superstar QB Levi Brown to waivers or the fervent defense of Peterman here?

    YES

17 years of garbage and people still want to play the "QB will fall" garbage. McBeane should go and get the QB they want. DONE!

I see that the Biff's from Tonawanda are all over this board. I really can't see why when the scouts, pundits, and every other prognosticator has said that there are four QB's that are significantly above the rest , that the nervous nellies . cannot see the writing on the wall. We  need a franchise QB , There are four at the top of the draft, We have sufficient resources to secure one , Our GM is going to trade UP to get one if he and his staff can . That means he will have picked one of the four that they think is THE  ONE.  This is the new Bill's.
