  1. There is a payback which is used for situations like this and it was used by two former Bill's. i will not use any names but they were two pretty good players from the 90's. A player got his Knee wrecked by an illegal hit and was done for the year. No retaliation that year. The next year the offended player stood the culprit up at the line and held him while his buddy could dive at his knee. The culprit was done for the year. He, by the way was a Patriot , so i am told.

  2. In my opinion,  if we cannot trade up for Darnold or Rosen we should draft to our needs and take a QB in a later round.#2 ,#3 or #4. We still have Peterman , who as a poster a few posts before said you cannot tell about a QB until they have played more than , i believe he said 10 games or more. I would hope Karma would strike the Bill's and have 2 QB's that are deemed to be starters , but i will settle for one.

Gotham Bill, I have a high regard for you but you have missed the points I have made regarding this new regime taking over for the Whaley regime (a GM you have for a very long time scathingly criticized). It's very apparent to me that Pegula hired McDermott because he presented a comprehensive plan that was diametrically different from the Whaley approach to building a roster. The organization has been completely blown up by the new staff. Whaley and all his hires, including all of the scouts, were dismissed. While Whaley and the HCs that the owners hired were often at odds philosophically and personality wise the new HC had the authority to hire his own GM. So that is an obvious example of an organization in alignment instead of in dissonance.

As I have said right from the start of the new staffing this is a major rebuilding job from addressing the roster and the cap distribution. Gilmore, Watkins and Dareus  are examples of not only shedding players for scheme reasons but also for cap reasons. The new HC wants players who want to be in Buffalo and he wants players who are committed. The primary strategy to restock the roster is through the draft. Last year the team traded down in the first round to get an extra first round pick this year. Watkins was dealt for a second round pick and a starting CB. Ragland, who I believe is going to be a good player in a more conducive scheme, was dealt for a third round pick in this year's draft. The strategy is to accumulate picks and use them to fill holes with younger and cheaper players and to better position for a high level qb prospect in this year's draft.

The argument that the Bills have to tank or not makes little sense to me. Why not try to be competitive in the short run while in the long run build a more talented and sustaining roster? You change the culture by being reasonably competitive. The Browns have demonstrated how not to rebuild a roster. If you totally blow up the roster without having some residual talent you don't get anywhere. The Browns also have demonstrated what not to do by passing on high quality qb prospects (as have the Bills) and extend the period of time for a search for a franchise qb. The Browns passed on either Goff or Wentz a couple years ago and they passed on Watson who could have been had with their second first round pick last year. Securing that position is an essential requirement to being successful.

As far as the Taylor vs Peterman argument I have simple response: I simply don't give a shiiiit. Neither are franchise qbs and neither will ever be. Too much energy is wasted on that meaningless topic for players that will get you nowhere. It's clear that Whaley and McDermott have very different football visions. However, both came to the same conclusion on the running qb as a franchise qb.

While you might look at the Bills organization as being inept in being either a tank team or a competitive team I have a very different perspective. In my mind this is a stripped down team that is overachieving. You may complain about that but I'm not. I give the HC credit for keeping this less than average talented team in the playoff hunt.

I realize how challenging this rebuilding process is. While others lament and are in a state of despair I am enthusiastically embracing it.It is a pathway that should have been taken years ago. I hope this response might give you a better understanding on how I see things developing with this woebegone franchise.

This is a synopsis of exactly what the Bill's are going to do and what they have done. I would disagree with only one point and i could be wildly wrong , In stating that Peterman cannot be a Franchise QB , I do not believe he has had enough time and games to prove anything. We should look toward next year and beyond for our nirvana.

And how does this improve the O line? Now you have to expend yet another of the dwindling draft picks plugging that hole.

We have two starters at left tackle. Dawkins may not be as accomplished as Glenn but he is far cheaper and Glenn should bring suitable value when traded. You do not play two left tackles and i have not seen any desire by the coaching staff to put them anywhere else on the line. Therefore we are NOT creating a hole in the line unless you want to pay Cordy's salary to be a backup.

This is what makes Belichick so great. He takes whatever players he has and finds ways to get every ounce of potential out of them.

Think about it: Chris Hogan and Danny Amendola cannot be covered by ANY NFL CBs. They are uncoverable and unstoppable. wide open every play.

Belichick went from a defensive minded coach to a throw it every down coach with a decent but mediocre defense and bad OL. He has won with a young Brady as a game manager with a great defense. He has won with a super powerful offense and okay defense, and he has won with a bad defense and all offense.

He knows football inside and out, and will use a scheme that suits his talent. We are seeing that this is very rare, as most coaches know one system and will force it on whoever they have because they don't know the game well enough to adapt.

BB has an iron clad system that does not put up with any dissent and the prima donna's that want more money than HE  thinks is reasonable , they are gone. He can do that because of his record. Remember McDaniels was his protege . Maybe he was trying to be like BB without the gun's and the control. No one in the Pat's fiefdom does anything without BB'a approval. McD/Beane can be similar to the New England situation with time and talent. By this i mean their own talent.

  6.  Kudos to OLDMAN FAN and JOESIXPACK  for their rational posts. The Coach and G.M took over and set about cleaning out the people that did not fit their perspective of a football team. The Pundits predicted us to 4 -12 this year. They have given us a roster that is competitive and blessed us with a lot of draft Choices , plus ridded us of cap space , to sign free agents. This all in one year. I do not think that they promised us a Super Bowl this year. The Coach is Coaching and the GM is doing his thing, so be a little patient to the younger set of fans. Remember that i started being a Bill's fan in 1960. I know, I know, I'm OLD.

I like McDermott.  I think he is going to be a good coach.  He just needs time to build his team and I hope he gets it.  Beane will have to do a good job for him.  Dennison I am not so sure about.  I don't like some of his situational play calling nor his calling in general.  Whether a better QB and offensive talent in general changes that remains to be seen.

    Ditto !!!

  8. The General Managers for all of the NFL  teams ranked the QB's and TT was ranked 25th. That along with his record with the Bills (20--18) is a precursor for his release after this year. His record does not belie a Super Bowl championship.I have been hoping for him to come around for two and one half years but it does not seem it is i the cards. I would like to see Peterman to, but I think with TT in there we will not get a lead enough for Peterman to play.

  9. i have watched the , Just give ti them, the music city forward pass, the Jacksonville pass interference call,, and todays call, and i think that the NFL thinks that is just Buffalo, a small market team , who does not mean much to them. I try to not think that it is a conspiracy or Vegas has anything to do with it , but today's penalty and the other ones over the years make believing in snow white somewhat hard. In all instances the penalties resulted in a loss or could have resulted in a loss.

I don’t think there Is a single Bills fan who thinks Taylor is the answer at QB past this season. Let him go out and be the QB and play for another shot next year, with another team. There is no way McDermott and Bean bring Taylor back. As for what Taylor did against the Chargers, whatever. Peterman looked about the same against New Orleans.

    My sentiments exactly

  11. It all comes down to the old argument about the chicken and the egg. You have to have both. The draft has to be sensible and good and the front office and the coaching has to be good. They both have not been good over the years with sporadic intervals of draft success or coach/front office success. i believe that McD/Beane should be here for five years with tweaking of the staff of both systems.i.e. scouts and assistant coaches. This is what nemesis does. Ten we can judge results .

  12. I have been here for all of these drafts and their disappointments and the coaching changes. i think we should let Mc Dermott go more than  three years before calling for his head. The same with Beane. We may be surprised. I also think  that the Peterman experiment was justified because of Tyrod's lack of downfield success. The first three of Peterman's interceptions were not his fault. ,One to a back who didn't catch, and two to an unblocked defensive end who disrupted Peterman's arm. I suppose the QB could have taken the sack on the two. and maybe he should have but how many times have we seen that. Peterman may be our QB of the future and he may not. Half a game is in no was a litmus test.

sorry about the typo. , no way a litmus test

  13. let the coach , coach. if he is not right, it is his ass. i have been a Bill's fan since their inception and I have seen the ups and downs during the years , mostly downs. we now have a coach  in his first season and the people who think they know more football than he does are amusing to say the least.
