    I like the move.

He has a history of winning.  Five Super Bowls, and a national championship his first year.

He has coached under the greatest HC in pro and college (Belichick and Saban) so he understands detail, preparation, winning, and never letting the foot off the pedal.

HIs past Pro OC experience does give pause, especially since the passing game on the teams he OC were horrible.  But he also had horrible teams (CLE, KC) who had horrible QBs that are all either backups or out of the league.  He was still able to rank 5th in rushing for a 2-14 KC team with Matt Cassel at QB.  That's how you cut your teeth as a first time coordinator, getting your butt kicked on a crappy team with crappy talent)

I'm sure he has learned from that experience as well since it's been five years ago.  Since that time he's won a few more rings with NE and was tabbed by the greatest college coach to run his offense.

This guy was next in line for the Patriots OC job.  Bills snuck in and stole him before McDaniels could make his decision.  He was also Nick Saban's selection to replace Lane Kiffin.  My thoughts are if this guy is good enough to be considered OC by storied franchises such as Belichick/Patriots and Saban/Alabama) than I believe the Bills made the right move here.

I would rather do this then hire a retread like McCoy or Chud, both of whom really hadn't done much to write home about over the last five years.

I say go outside the box and strive for greatness.

    That's what champions do.

    Go Bills!

I just hope our passing game doesn't disappear.

    Disppear? was this a joke?

I was hoping for Daboll but i thought he was not the favorite. what do i know?

    Great Hire!

  2. I read an article on mayfield in SI. I really didn't have much interest at the time and sort of skimmed the article. The only thing that caught my eye was his height, they alluded to it being from 5' 9" to 6' and i don't think they ever positively said what it was , only that there was a notion that it was 5' 11". I did not think that the Bills would be interested in him so i dismissed it from my thoughts.

Didn’t realize making decisions on what coaches and philosophies to adopt is not a decision attributable to the roots of the tree...hiring Schwartz was Marrone’s call and the fruit of his tree (along with Hackett, guys like Coughlin, etc) are now being enjoyed outside our own organization. I sense some buyer’s remorse in some of you.

Parcells to Coughlin to Marrone. Coughlin gets hired as President. of the Jags Marrone is the coach. I don't think that Marrone can claim his former tree and boss.

  4. Brady, as everyone knows was a 6th rd. pick. Prescott was a fourth rd. pick. Joe Montana was a third rd. pick presumably ,because he had a weak arm. all of you  pseudo GM's  know for a fact that Peterman has a weak arm because one you put it on the board. The rest of you, like lemmings picked up on it , so it must be true. I say wait until next year to see how it sorts out. you may be surprised.

  5. I believe that all of the TT trolls have spoken and it was the same old #hi# that we have heard before . No mention of the snow game , where NP suddenly had an arm that was able to complete passes in a snowstorm. Weak arm bull feathers. !!!   He will be the starting QB  next year and for all you trolls get a life.

Tyrod's 'weapons' did not distinguish themselves this season.

It is difficult to be a "weapon" if you are never thrown to, or the throws to you are high over your head

Let's use your hypothetical. Whatever it is that makes you rank Taylor at 99 and Peterman at 100 would be the thing that "impressed" you, relative to the other guy.

It is the skill that one has that is -- in your opinion -- better than the other. Or it could be several skills that separate the two.

What we are doing here is evaluating 26's "scouting report" on Peterman against a known entity, in this case it's Tyrod Taylor. So, using Taylor as the baseline, we're trying to figure out how much worse Peterman's skill set is, at least according to 26.

Excellent point -- I didn't know this, and for the Peterman nay-sayers it's much more effective than "5 INTS, HAHAHA".  It's definitely interesting as far as identifying possible later round draft "gems".

Also, I think the standard for QB play is so low around here that if a rookie comes in and makes a couple of strong throws into traffic (Peterman to KB in LA, for one example), it's probably more impressive around here than it would be on a team that has had stronger play from the position.

The point being tha,t we have seen a low standard of QB play for many seasons and we were hopeful in TT's  run that we would finally see a QB that could be like Kelly or a reasonable facsimile of him.We didn't not see that for two years and through the season. That is why some fans wanted to see our backup. It is what it is, as far as Peterman goes and I hope that next year he can be a starter for us. The nut is , we must trust TT to have a good game(s) and rally around him like true Bill's fans.

The harsh critics like to harp on the in-game mistakes that for the most part had little to do with the outcome of games. And there are the unyielding critics who respond as if replacing a struggling qb with a rookie qb was a forever disqualifying decision. What is lacking is putting in to perspective what has been accomplished this year by McDermott. He took over a team and to some extent stripped it to acquire draft picks and future cap space. The overwhelming consensus was that the Bills were a rebuilding team with a realistic chance of winning 4 to 6 games at best. The performance of the team dramatically over-performed what its talent level was. This was done by good coaching and assembling a roster of players who bought in. That's a testimony to the coach and his staff.

Whether the Bills win their first playoff game in a generation is not the biggest achievement of this regime. It is taking a team that has been ingloriously stuck in the muck of mediocrity for so long and put this rebuilding team in a good position to meaningfully succeed in the not too distant future. By smartly making some moves, some bold and controversial, to acquire draft picks and create cap space this team will be in a good position to accelerate the rebuilding process.

While so many people want to relish wallowing in the move of replacing TT in the Charger game and some of his questionable in-game decisions I'm looking at what he has overall accomplished. He has changed the dynamic of this slumbering franchise and energized it. I'm ecstatic and I salute him!

Another lamenting the Peterman concussion, or he'd be leading the Bills into Jacksonville......

I did not say anything about Peterman for MVP nor did i lament Peterman's concussion, as far as the steven Ruiiz clips they were formatted to SELL his story. thats all.

  10. My, My  the trolls for TT are out in force today. Their retelling of the Peterman games, yes i said games, makes me wonder what they watched. Didn't they see a fullback muff a pass , which was on the money, didn't they see two offensive tackles choose not to block their assigned rushers, resulting in less than two seconds for the QB to throw. I would think that the coach did and he will put it in perspective. During the Colts game The QB threw two balls to Benjamin Which resulted in a TD. Benjamin, who TT can't seem to find. Sure, he made a rookie mistake and didn't slide. I suspect that Peterman is going to be in the mix for our starting QB next year because the ramifications of the draft whereby, the first few pickers all need QB's. I do not think TT will be there , unless he takes us on a miraculous drive to the finals.

I really want to know what Nate did to piss 26 off?

the hate he has for the rookie is astounding.

The team is in the playoffs.

There is no I in team.

I don't think It is Peterman, he just was the person who happened to be the QB who took Tyrod's job. Therefore the wrath of 26 has to come down on him.Wait until next year when when another QB has Tyrod's job and he will be the same as he was with Peterman.
