The franchise should not give him a pay cut. It should simply cut him and move on. It would be the best thing for him and it would be the best thing for the organization. The NFL is basically a market place for the players. If he could find another team that would give him a better opportunity to play and be more financially rewarding then more power to him. He is a stellar person who I wish well.

The Taylor era is over. He has started for three years with little progression to his game. He is what he is. There should be no debate about what he can be as a qb. That is well known by all.

The team should allow him and his agent to find another team to join. Then the organization should accommodate him, even if it means giving him away for nothing. He is a good fellow and teammate. He deserves a fresh start and so does the team.

    well put

The Patriots are loaded with guys like that: Hogan, Edelman, Butler, Amendola, Lewis, White, etc... The big difference is that those guys EARNED a chance.

I used Jabari Greer earlier because it’s the same thing. Jason Peters, Kyle Williams, Pat Williams and Fred Jackson are a few more. The Bills have had, and continue to have, guys that were taken late that contribute. Matt Milano looks like the next guy to be drafted late and be a good player. The caveat is that they played well when given the opportunity. That’s where it differs from Zebrie Sanders or Johnny White. The guys that succeed aren’t the majority.

No, i will give you that but they failed first for their teams and got a chance with another team.In the case of Peters , a position change was all it took.

Maybe my memory is foggy but I don’t remember people having this irrational confidence in Tuel or Brohm or Levi Brown or Gibran Hamdan? If a guy can’t play he can’t play. It’s not that anyone writing him off too early. It works the other way with late round picks and UDFA (at all positions). They have to EARN their spot on the roster. Some guys like Jabari Greer run with the opportunity. The overwhelming majority get turned over after a brief look. When teams come to the conclusion that a guy can’t contribute they try to replace them with someone that can. I know @section122 went through a bunch of recent 5th rounders that didn’t work out. That’s the way that it happens. It’s not that the guy is being treated unfairly. He’s getting the same treatment that Zebrie Sanders got, a look, a chance and then try to fend off the new guy.

I just read a blurb today that three of the Eagles were UDFA or low round picks who were discarded and are now integral parts of the Patriots. Be careful what you wish for

.....a 5th round rookie qb thrown in for a road start against one of the top pass rush teams in the NFL. Sprinkle in an embarrassing performance from our oline. What could go wrong?

Joey Bosa saying on two occasions " they didn't block me" He was amazed !! and i believe the coaches were too. I haven't  heard this mentioned on the board since it happened and was instrumental in the interceptions that Nate through when he was hit  I have not seen Eric Wood's comment on Nate 's progress with the team in practice, just before the playoff game, either.

I take no joy in the fact that the Bills drafted a guy that played the worst half of football since the merger his first time out. I take no joy in the fact that he fumbled, took a grounding penalty and got picked in the playoff game. I take no joy in the fact that he completed less than half of his pass attempts to his guys and over 10% of them to the opponents. That doesn’t make any of us happy.

We want the Bills to do well. I really question anyone that wants him here actually? A long shot, 5th round QB, that lacks physical tools, that played like trash, isn’t the future of this team. He belongs on the trash. It’s not personal; it’s business.

I am a Nate hater who has been on the "replace Tyrod" train for almost two full seasons.  Tyrod isn't good enough but he has NOTHING to do with the fact that Nate is trash.  I was of that view before he was drafted here and he has done nothing to change my mind.

The term hater is so damned juvenile as if there's some personal vendetta against a player who someone believes lacks the requisite skill set to succeed at the NFL level.  It's rather comical and pathetic.

I have seen your posts in previous rtacks and you definitely do not trust the process the Bill's are trying to get the team better. The juvenile comments from 26 are out of lone but i expect them from your posts.

  6. The Nate haters love this. I just want to tell them ,you are off base in most of you diatribes against Nate and are blinded by your affection for Taylor. I used to be a Taylor guy too, but after three dismal years , gave up. I believe that Nate will be given a chance in camp to start. I also believe that McD/Beane will draft a QB, not sure where but I will trust their judgement. I will trust the Process, as  the Nate haters seem to be at odds with. This of course is IMO.

I don't believe McDaniels takes the Colts job if Luck's health is a big question mark.

    http://www.espn.com/blog/indianapolis-colts/post/_/id/22661/pressure-is-on-colts-gm-chris-ballard-now-that-hes-landed-josh-mcdaniels-as-coach

Ballard will have nearly $85 million in salary-cap space -- third most in the NFL -- to work with in free agency and the No. 3 overall pick in April's draft. The Colts are working under the assumption that they’ll have a healthy Andrew Luck (shoulder), who missed the entire 2017 season. There’s no excuse for the team not to be a better next season.

I agree , along with the fact that the Colts are pretty well set a QB with Jacoby Brissett ,who McDaniels is intimately familiar with, from New England. This is saying that Luck may need some more time recouping.

Once again it's a lame argument to make in support of Peterman because he should be assessed based on what he brings to the table which isn't much so I understand your attempt to deflect.

It is not a matter of fact which you so desperately try to lay on us. It is a matter of opinion that Peterman may not bring much to the table and you may or may not be right. I chose to find out during camp.

Such a weak argument.  Does every coach and GM in the NFL make the right decision every time to make them infallible?

I do not think a Coach or GM makes every decision right any more than any man makes every decision right in his life. Unfortunately, some of you think you know more than a professional Coach or GM ,and is patently obvious that some of you do not, and i am not just talking about the coaches from Buffalo.

If true this is an outrage of the highest order. An abomination. A kerfuffle. A conundrum.

How could any any competent staff see Peterman as anything other than Frank Reich at best, Gale Gilbert at worst?

If more, tar and feather them all immediately. Furthermore, send them all over the falls in a tar coated flaming ship with huge Ls on the side.

    Nathan freaking Peterman? Really?

Thats why he is the coach and you are doing whatever you do.

I took a lot of crap for saying that Bills fans aren’t informed. Obviously there are exceptions but we didn’t grow up playing the game, our media didn’t either, we don’t follow college football, and our high school football is played at a low level. We are incredibly loyal and passionate but not knowledgeable.

That brings us here, 23 pages into a thread where some people believe Nathan Peterman is a viable starting QB option in the NFL!! Nathan Peterman doesn’t even believe that.

Oh, you are a mindreader too

  11. I know that Qb's Are generally picked i or 2 with a success rate of 50% or less. There have been cases where even free agents have become starters. Case Keenum in the modern era and Johnny Unitas in the dark ages. Das Prescott  was a 4th rounder and of course everybody know Tommy was a 6th rounder. I also know the odds are against  him but , wouldn't,t it be nice if the Bill's  could find a horse shoe at last. If McD is really in the kid's camp  and if we have a rookie QB in the draft who obviously won't start , we can see . I would like to see some optimism for our team and organization , rather than the continual sniping of our Coach and GM,

you'll see more, that is if he is part of the plan going forward? he'll get his reps in camp/preseason again but he'll be on the sideline as the back up watching when the season comes around.

that's where I see him and anyone should be able to see (or saw, he's still raw) he is far from an nfl caliber starting QB and still needs to work on competing for the #2 position which he may earn, could drop to #3 if the rookie shows promise.? if he were to learn a system and prove he can be at the ready when his number is called and settle down some I believe he will make a fine back up. maybe not frank reich level but definitely better then thigpen or any of the other scrubs they had in the past at back up.

he was literally thrown to the wolves and failed the test but if he is still on the roster come september, then they must of seen enough potential to compete for #2?

Thanks for your ringing endorsement of NP.  Peterman went through the number 3 to number two last year. The "thats where i see him", does not make it so and the rest of your post is conjecture. you are entitled to your opinion  but that's all

Watkins for Gaines and 2nd = Gaines hurt all year, something new each week.

Darby for Matthews and 3rd = Matthews didn't even finish season from previous injuries.

Wood 2 year extension = Wood retirement before contract even kicked in

Seymour for Clay = Both players ended up contributing for Carolina

Ragland for 4th = Ragland starting LB in KC

Dareus for 5th = Dareus looking great for Jacksonville while we left with dead money

Signed Rod Streater = Didn't play a snap this year

Signed Boldin = Didn't play a snap this year

    So, another Negative Nellie

I just think that Peterman sucks. I thought the same thing a year ago at this time. He played the position as poorly as anyone has ever played it!!! Fortunately McDermott isn’t a moron and there is no chance that they are dumb enough to give that scrub the starting job. He MAY not have a roster spot.
