Do I get any credit hours if I go through all that?

I don’t know what the point Is anymore. It looks like that train has moved on. Now, if things change, then I’m interested again. Tyrod is the best option to win NOW, but I’m pretty confident they will find a preferred option.  The million dollar question is can they do better?

i would hope so, the bar is not set very high. 32 nd in the league

I believe the "clean house" comment to be sarcasm.  You would think all Bills fans would have thick skin by now, but maybe some are just on their last nerve.

As for this summary, I might look at a couple of the points differently than posted here.  One has to do with "the process."  The fact of the matter here is that this franchise has lost a culture that expects success (17 non-playoff years will do that).  Through 4 SB appearances, the culture assumed regular success and playoff appearances.  After our last SB, we appeared in the playoffs for of the next six years.  Unfortunately, after Kelly and the gang left, we found that we had not in fact built a successful franchise (such as GB, or Pittsburgh), but instead had a nice run with a Hall of Fame group.

I think the players jettisoned, including Watkins and Dareus, presented as me guys, not we guys, so McDermott felt the need to make it clear that type of attitude does not win and is not needed for our rebuild.  The Rams are winning because of a superior D line and Gurley, not so much Watkins.  Dareus has not make a significant impact since joining the Jags.  They both may have made some plays on the field that could have been helpful, but I suspect their influence in the locker room was not positive overall.

Although I agree, he's probably not much of a risk taker, I don't think we have enough playmakers to reward him for taking too many risks.  It will be fascinating to see if our drafts lean toward defensive, or offensive dominant.  The types of offensive players he's accumulated so far (Z. Jones, Benjamin) are more workmanlike type guys than take the top off guys.  Unless that changes, you are probably right, but I'd like to see a couple of burners with the guys we have now.  That would be fun to see what he does then.

For the same reason I listed above (limited talent), I'll reserve judgement on his ability to manage a game.  He's done some things I wouldn't do, but I suspect he's not in a position to get very exotic with what we put on the field, so again, until we can build a more talented team, this group is going to look very vanilla.  Remember how the Brady offense looked until he got Moss and Welker.  Once he had luxury toys to play with, he was a pretty vanilla QB also.

Although we've all waited far longer than we should to see a truly successful team on the field, I think what I've seen this year has been more encouraging than I've seen in a long time.  We just have to pray next year is not a significant regression.

I think McDermott is not up to date on football metrics & win probability. He knows Tyrod is limited but so is Peterman. Going 8-8 will be hailed as an achievement. The trouble is finding a QB. If they strike out, I doubt Pegula waits for things to turn past 2019. Pegula give Beane & McDermott 2018 to find & develop a QB. That gives them 2019 possibly 2020 to start competing for the playoffs. It shouldn’t take a competent coach & GM 3 seasons to make the playoffs. It has to happen either 2018, or 2019 or they’re both gone.

I agree with familykwi. There are two things that are overlooked in our discussions, they are the draft for 2017 , which was a success with six choices and six players that played. N.E. is a franchise who has Brady and a bunch of players. They do not draft well and they do not normally pay to keep players. They have excellent coaching. Romo said yesterday that Buffalo is on an upswing. I would believe that McD. , being a person who is willing to try a few things that work or don't work will learn from it and we will have a very successful  coach.I do not agree with Dr. Sack who wants to pull the plug after 2018 or 2019 because 2017 has been a very successful year, for the Bill's ,in retrospect.

Dumb. Gronkowski is hated because he plays for the Patriots. If he played for Green Bay and won SBs with Rogers, no one would care. It's no different watching football in BUF than anywhere else. Fans hate their rivals. No one outside of New England can stand the Pats , except for a few band wagoners . Just stupid comments beyond belief . Lastly, what fans think has zero to do with the success of the franchise or lack thereof. Edit : referring to the comments in the article, not by " Dingus"

Right on, I personally think that Gronk playing ever for the Bill's is a ship that has sailed, especially after the assault on Tre. I also question his maturity and judgement.

  4. I believe it started with the  "Just give it to them game"  which they got a phantom P.I.  call on the ensuing play and won the game from the one yard line. every since they have been devoid of holding calls in the first three quarters of games. They will get a penalty or two when the game is in hand. yesterdays game was emblematic of the calls favoring N.E. .On the Running play that Thompson was called for holding , the official knew that Buffalo was going for a big play. He has to stop the momentum, so he throws a flag. Even Romo said it was a chicken sheet call and Shady was already by the spot of the "hold".When Hyde was called for holding Cook the official should have to report for an eye examination. Cook had his arms encircling Hyde. It was a typical N.E. win, call the penalties on the opponents in the first three quarters when in is a momentum stifler and when you get enough points , then you may get one or two called on the Patriots to satisfy the "evenness" of officiating. If, the Pats. are in a close game the opposing team doesn't stand a chance. The officials suddenly can't seem to spot the ball where a N.E. runner or receiver landed. always gets what they need for a first down. When they can't win any other way there is always the replay official. It isn't just Buffalo, the whole country knows  and detests the Cheatriots.

Sorry but TT is our only chance to win in Miami. As bad as he has been at times throughout the season as much as he cannot rise to the occasion (like today) he is still better than a pretty mediocre rookie. You have to have sniffed gasoline to think that Peterman could somehow be better right now after that potentially career destroying performance in SD and then if that wasn't bad enough, getting his bell rung on a stupid play vs the Colts. What could possibly make you think that he could get it done at this point against a fearsome pass rush like the Fins have. They would eat Peterman alive. The bottom line is both qbs suck, TT just a little less at this point.

Are you sure it is a little less, from what i've seen of both i would say TT has to go and Peterman is the unknown entity due to his lack of game time.

  6. Time will tell , with our new scouting dept. ,Beane and McD.they should be able , with all of our draft choices, get a some of our needs and free agency will help. possibly a trade or two in the mix. The QB position is the nut that has to be cracked. i see were Rosen said he will not go to the Browns. He will go to the Giants. I wonder about the Bill.s. I have read that he is about the only prospect that is """ready". The rest of the QB's are a crapshoot and we might as well wait until our pick in the draft to take one .

Bortles makes bone headed decisions, but his talent is above that of Peterman who was a 5th round flyer pick for a reason.  He's not some premium prospect just waiting for his talent to bust out.   Hold out that hope. Meanwhile, I'll look to the 2018 draft for a long term solution.

I saw plenty and it was .  That's why he returned to the role of backup QB.

And you are expert enough to to say that Peterman's a bust after the limited time you have seen him. You are wasting your time posting on this board because if you are that talented all 32 team want you.

We've seen 1 quarter in one game, 1 half in another, and 1 half in one more game from him. That's it. AND he's a rookie.

To act like we know what we have with him is hilarious. People still try to campaign for Tyrod as if he'll somehow change. He's a 7 year veteran with 3 years of starting experience & the only changes he's made are for the worse. What could you possibly find appealing about that?

How unfortuNATE  that we didn't get to see Nate more . We have seen Tyrod for three years and unfotuNATEly he has come up short in the area of quarterbacking.

  9. Romo , when the game was lost in the fourth Quarter ,said that the coaching in Buffalo was on the right track and they are going in the right direction. I am sick of the coach bashers , as if they could do what is required in the situations that the coaches face. Hindsight is all the bashers can do . Some of the decisions are right and some are wrong. I'll stick with Romo. I think he know's a heck of a lot more about football than most of us.

There is no way you can talk to the posters who think Peterman through five interceptions on his own. He had Help, one from a back who on a pass that should have been caught and two on "lookout" blocks that allowed him 2 seconds to pass.Whether the blocks were the result of malice by the blockers is a matter that the coaches will have to sort out. Bosa said "he didn't block me". McD is going to be around awhile and I would think that a marginal tackle would think before "playing games" with his future.

  11. With Rosen and possibly Jackson being the only NFL  ready QB.s I think that Peterman will be more ready than any other QB that the Bill's can draft. Remember that they traded the picks in the first round and they obviously didn't know what they had in Peterman., hence Beane saying were going to draft a QB. Things change , it could be a ploy , it could be true ,or they may take a QB with one of their multiple picks ,or trade their picks for one. Most of the posters are already on board with trading multiple picks for a chance to move up. It is a crapshoot, to move up and you have to sure when you invest that amount of rehsourses in it.See the Manual, Losman and Watkin's trades. I have heard that Rosen is the only sure thing in the draft and he is going to be long gone when the Bill's make their pick. Therefore i think it is Peterman's job or a retread until Peterman or another rookie can seize the job.
