Well than perhaps I am the cynic for pointing out that his protest began only when his football career stalled.

Racism certainly has not "proliferated" in this country in the less than two years since Kaepernick apparently discovered its existence.  But for those who get their news and views from social media--they could be excused for thinking what you claim is true.

Also, when you have 45 million in the bank, it gets real easy to fancy yourself a "clarion of the oppressed".  But he's not speaking for them--this whole kneeling/sitting/standing protest is solely about players vs owners at this point.  It occurred to none of these players until Kaep sat in 2016 that they should be protesting or sticking up for or doing anything at all for 'the oppressed".  They actually see themselves as the oppressed, since that CBA they couldn't wait to sign in 2011 was agreed upon.

I don't agree with your hypothesis that Kaepernicks career had stalled ,the 49 ers were going through a leadership change and were in effect getting old. Maybe he wasn't a fit for the niners anymore but a stalled career is because of a further calling and the lack of opportunity by NFL teams. Stay tuned for this because it isn't over.

It is ridiculous to think that the protest is a player /owner  thing. It is a racial protest or weren't you listening .The proliferation  of racism has increased in the last two years as the president  with his policies and actions  supports  it.

That's the part I disagree with--and which I addressed in my post exposing the cynicism of Kaep's late-to-the-movement protest.

This discussion has been front and center now and had been raging for 4 full years before he woke up to it.   He did so when his starting job and fame were not in jeopardy.

"His grievances" didn't seem to exist before 2016, yet his stated issues were burning up front pages and dominating public discussion for years by that point.  So, he has added nothing to the topic he claims to be supporting or protesting---instead, he has opened a tangential discussion about patriotism, real or fake, about Trump and about owners vs players.

I don't agree with you calling Kaepernick  a cynic . The things he was protesting against have been in the news for a long time but, with the instant news and the shift in the political scene , the racism has proliferated in the time which you said. He has traded his position as a football player for a clarion of the oppressed. Not a lot of people would have the guts to do what he has done and history will remember him, Favorably .

  3. As I said in an earlier post that, is not the flag or the anthem that our servicemen fought and died for . It was for our RIGHTS. The Supreme Court has over and over again said that a citizen CAN  desecrate the flag. It is within our free speech right. I would not do it and the vast majority would not do it , but it is our right. It is our RIGHT To protest . Colin chose to protest in the manner he thought would draw attention to the  lack of justice for minorities . Unfortunately , the president decided to politicize his actions .This is what polarized the country. Even the president does not understand the constitution with regard to our rights. The posters who say that everyone must stand for the anthem and flag are only partially right, Active duty service people and  some contractual situations must stand . The NFL is between a rock and a hard place because any effort to legislate a dictum to the players , would make their correct null and void.

I’m annoyed by every bozo who’s annoyed by the players kneeling, so you should then have to pass the money on to me.

Everyone knows why they’re kneeling. Some would rather follow Trump’s lead and twist it because they don’t want to address the real issue.

Precisely !, but  the posts don't bear,,everyone knows why they are kneeling. They are clueless as to their own rights and do not know what the real issue is,

I wish those of us who are annoyed by it, could sign up and have the fines paid to us. I wouldn't mind it all if that happened. I wonder how much money it is? Say I got 100  bucks for every bozo that kneeled down. That would be pretty sweet. I think I am some sort of a dick because that thought actually makes me happy. I would probably even be hollering for more of them to man up and kneel.

You are a person who has NO idea what they were kneeling for. They are kneeling for a basic freedom of justice for ALL. Not just the boneheads that think the "Justice For All"  in our pledge was meant for you and not all Americans.

  6. I am a veteran . The right to protest is inherent in our roots. ( The Boston Tea Party ) in case some of you want to look it up. My service , i would like to think was not to glorify a flag or anthem , it was to defend our freedoms. The freedom to protest is one freedom which every American should defend to his/her  death. The intellectual lightweight  4Fer  in the White House  chose to make the protest political and the NFL  bit.  MLK  and Bobby Kennedy  among others  paid with their  lives for our sacred right to protest. Colin Kaepernick  has paid dearly for his just protestations. The NFL has taken  the path of  ignominy. I am sure that  a solution can be worked out if politics can be kept out of the solution. For the rednecks out there  , I am a caucasian.

  7. I expect the Defense to be considerably better with the shore up of the line. The DB's are set . LB  is a little bit sketchy but i suspect there is help coming after June 1st. The Offense is going to be better because we will have a QB that throws to  Wide Receivers  , no matter which one of the three starts. The WR's can't help but be better than last year.. Shady has help this year. We have a new Offensive Coordinator . I will expect 10 plus wins this year.

  8. I think it is to early to be concerned about  the WR position now. We have all of the OTA's , training  camp and preseason to go. Dupree showed some moxie last week. O'Rielley , Ray Ray , and Proehl  showed something and Streater, Holmes along with Jones , Benjamin  and Kerley could condense into a good WR corps when the season starts.

Honestly wouldn't be completely surprised by this if the staff wants to redshirt Allen. I think Peterman has about the same level of natural skill as McA and could show something. It would be pretty hard to swallow the media BS if we do announce him the starter though.

McD will make the decision and what it is ,people will just have to deal with it.

  10. Peterman was the unfortunate person who got caught up in the Tyrod Fiasco. No matter who it was they would have been castigated by the Tyrod followers. Un fortunately ( I know , I know it is your favorite worn out joke CB 26) Peterman threw the interceptions with some help by his teammates. I really do not understand the vitriol against Peterman with many of you. Let's face it Tyrods never coming back and Peterman didn't have anything to do with his demise in the eyes of the Bills. Cut the kid some slack and we will see what he can do. GO BILLS

  11. I cannot believe the narrow mindless of some Bills fans and i say fans with some disbelief. The TRUE Bills fan would want Peterman ,McCarron and Allen to  in a  contest for the starting job whereby there is a high level of progress for each one  and the coaches have trouble determining who is going to start. That said , i believe Peterman , if he beats out McCarron,, will start game one and McCarron will be traded. Allen will come in when he is ready..

  12. I can see an OL of LT  Dawkins , LG Teller, C  Groy , RG Miller, RT McDermott. They will have all of the OTA's and training camp to get ready and with the same system in effect , the preparation it should be better than it was last year. For WR I think most of us are forgetting about Brandon O'Rielley , McD. likes him.

Don't get me started on Timmy Ho's.  It's been a constant source of aggravation the past few months. Can't get anything right. I'm about done with them.

It used to be good until they sold to Burger King !

Thanks for keeping it real, man. I'm very concerned about it. Instead of getting excited about finally having a great prospect in a Bills uniform after 30 years, I think it's a perfect time to piss all over that, and worry about the Wide Receiver situation.

There are plenty of serious threads in which to discuss Josh Allen. This is not one.

A topic about Josh Allen is not a topic about Wide Receivers. I know from previous posts that you were not high on Allen. I was. We will wait for 2- 3 years to find out . So , for now,  let your bias against him cool.

    Those are my Top 2.

I started following football about 1971 or so. Lamonica's Raiders were always good and exciting to watch. I remember being astounded when my dad told me that he used to be on the Bills. I couldn't figure out how that could have possibly happened. You know what? I still can't.

According to rumors at the time there were ' Mitigating " circumstances in the trade of Lamonica

  16. I said earlier that i would not trade our QB's  for many in the league. I firmly believe that given that Josh Allen becomes the QB i think he is going to be. I would not trade for any team in the AFC East ,South, or West,  I might trade with Pittsburgh in the North. In the NFC  East I would trade with Philadelphia. In the North I might trade with Green Bay, I probably would trade  with Los Angeles and San Francisco and maybe Seattle in the West. I wouldn't trade in the NFC South. I would want a younger   QB  with the exception of Rogers who should have  a few years left .

Quantify "worst".  Are we talking week 1 starters?  Backups?  Potential?  You noted "situation", so let's play all-or-nothing.  If the Bills have the worst, then there should be no team you wouldn't want to make a wholesale swap with, then.  If we are the worst, it would only make sense to perform a full swap with any other team.  Right now would you trade all our QBs for all of Miami's?  Jax's?  Detroit?  Tampa?  If you answered 'no' to any of those, you don't think we have the worst QB situation in the league.

There are very few teams i would trade even up for all of our QBs
