  1. ESPN article said he tried to hold up. Sure as hell doesn't look like it to me. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25647670/kiko-alonso-miami-dolphins-ejected-following-scrum-set-hit-sliding-josh-allen
  2. I missed the memo ............... and Mahommes did also ?. ps Funnier if you saw the Chiefs last game.
  3. Yup ........... completely what I expected. I'm not going to argue those points with you. It will not make a difference.
  4. To Zay's credit he has improved this year. He went from being horrible all the time to only being horrible half the time. All this from a person (me) who expected him to be like Cooper Kupp or Josh Reynolds. When I saw him in the Senior Bowl I thought he was going to be great. He still might but he needs to learn how to consistently catch the damn ball.
  5. Allen totally reminds me of a less refined Big Ben. Ben used to run more (not as much as Allen) and the team around him was much better. The Steelers defense was better than ours, the running game and O-line was better, and the pass catchers were much much better. Ben was not setting records passing his first few years but he made big throws and big runs and with the team around him was a winner. Allen is always looking downfield. As the game slows down and he learns the art of taking some more easy throws his completion rate will increase and his interceptions should drop. That said he doesn't have to be as efficient as Brees or Peyton to be a great QB. Great QB's are defined by a few plays at key times and not necessarily having 70 percent complete.
  6. I'll preface this by saying I really like Allen but that said this is the same group from last year. Funny how the song has changed from horrible QB to horrible WR's. Granted I thought it was horrible WR's the whole time but fans love to play to a narrative.
  7. I like our QB. I like our OC. There's enough there to like. I like our defensive coaching staff overall. I think some offensive upgrades on the line and pass catchers would help but learning how to win has eluded us for many many years. When the penalties stop. The dropped balls stop. The bad clock management stops. I'll feel a little more comfortable about the idea of learning how to win. Hopefully next year is the start.
  8. We left at least a handful of very good plays on the field with drops, lost balls, or fumbles. Allen also threw a couple of bad picks. Get rid of the picks, make a few more catches, don't fumble and I think we are in this game. Wouldn't hurt to take McCoy off the field and sit him next to Clay. He just can't seem to get positive yardage on most plays.
  9. I have no problem with McCoy per se. It does however amaze me how useless he is in this offense. His running style seems to require big holes and no penetration. He's also much more uselss in the passing game than I thought he would be. I do think Allen has trouble recognize which plays to swing it to the back early on but I still am amazed that McCoy is basically useless. Again I'm not saying McCoy is doing anything differently he just doesn't seem to fit this offense.
  10. There were numerous times that there was a checkdown. Allen is very bad at knowing presnap which plays to swing that ball out quickly and when to stand in the pocket and look down field. That said he is a rookie that will improve every week. He's also making a number of big plays looking downfield. He and Foster just missed a TD this week and there are at least two others they just missed on the last couple of weeks to go with all the others they hit on. Once he gets the feel for that though he'll raise his completion percentage and we'll move the chains a little more often. I can't disagree with this except I have to add that Daboll's scheme is working better each week. Foster is catching TD's and he's very close to catching more. Allen does need to swing it out to the RB a little quicker sometimes but with that said McCoy is worse at catching the ball than I thought he would be and this week in particular the droppsies seemed to come back around for everyone.
  11. 3 plays that exemplify todays game. 1) Foster losing the ball in the sun while having 2 or 3 yards on his defender and a very well thrown ball. 2) Couple of plays later an excellent coverage beating play with double crossing routes and Allen hits McKenzie right in the hands. He drops it. 3) Next would be the Croom fumble. We really could have been in or won this game very easily. NE has been letting very average teams hang around and even beat them and today we had our chance and blew it. Hell NE was even taking drive killing penalties on offense just to help us out but we had no intention of stepping up today.
  12. I imagine Rogers sees much more coverage that makes him throw short. They are probably trying to keep everything in front of them. Where as with us, until Foster came along, they probably had little fear of our passing game and figured they could jump a route at some point for a pick. In other words they are probably playing close to the line of scrimmage and daring us to throw deep. If Allen keeps hitting Foster for big gains like he has you will probably see defenses change to take that away and then there will be more short passes.
  13. Again if we had kicked the field goal this is a 4 point game ...........
  14. If only we had kicked that field goal ................ it'd be a 3 point game.
  15. I'm with you on this. Daboll has been fairly creative and they are scoring points. Definitely need help on the line and better talent at TE and WR but I feel fairly good about the direction of the offense. The defense disappearing when it's needed most is now the troubling thought of the day.
  16. The one thing this team has specialized in for 20 years is finding a way to lose. Sometimes we play pretty well, sometimes we don't but either way if the game is close more often than not we get penalized, give up that big pass play, miss a field goal, take a sack, get tackled and move out of field goal range, jump off sides on a field goal try giving them a first down ect. ect. ect. Teams that make the playoffs year after year and win Superbowls do just the opposite. They put the game away when it's close and they don't make the critical mistakes. We made plenty of mistakes today and let them hang around but all of that would have meant nothing if they only made a couple more plays in the 4th qtr. No matter the QB or how well the defense is playing this team needs to find a way to stop shooting itself in the foot.
  17. Textbook defensive choke in the 4th qtr. Same offense and same mistakes we've been making all year. The defense is supposed to the strength and the difference maker. The offense put enough points on the board that this game should have been winnable vs the Jets.
  18. He improved from "maybe we should cut him this offseason" to every two or three games he shows up. By shows up I mean 4 catches for 60 yards or something that a good reciever does in the first half of most games they play. He appeared to have all the tools when he was drafted to be like a Josh Reynolds or even a Cooper Kupp but he just drops too many passes and continues to do so.
  19. Can't have your defense giving up chunk plays in the 4th qtr when you have a lead. Reminds me of the Rex days.
  20. I think people have this all or nothing complex. I can say I think Allen is great and has tons of potential to be great for the next 15 years 100 times but if I say I thought the pass he threw at the end of the game was a little short people lose their minds. They treat it like if you don't worship the ground he walks on then you think he's a bust.
  21. Anyone else see the no calls on the Pats DB's in the Viking's game? Clearly they call it different for the Pats.
