  1. 3 plays that exemplify todays game. 1) Foster losing the ball in the sun while having 2 or 3 yards on his defender and a very well thrown ball. 2) Couple of plays later an excellent coverage beating play with double crossing routes and Allen hits McKenzie right in the hands. He drops it. 3) Next would be the Croom fumble. We really could have been in or won this game very easily. NE has been letting very average teams hang around and even beat them and today we had our chance and blew it. Hell NE was even taking drive killing penalties on offense just to help us out but we had no intention of stepping up today.
  2. I imagine Rogers sees much more coverage that makes him throw short. They are probably trying to keep everything in front of them. Where as with us, until Foster came along, they probably had little fear of our passing game and figured they could jump a route at some point for a pick. In other words they are probably playing close to the line of scrimmage and daring us to throw deep. If Allen keeps hitting Foster for big gains like he has you will probably see defenses change to take that away and then there will be more short passes.
  3. Again if we had kicked the field goal this is a 4 point game ...........
  4. If only we had kicked that field goal ................ it'd be a 3 point game.
  5. I'm with you on this. Daboll has been fairly creative and they are scoring points. Definitely need help on the line and better talent at TE and WR but I feel fairly good about the direction of the offense. The defense disappearing when it's needed most is now the troubling thought of the day.
  6. The one thing this team has specialized in for 20 years is finding a way to lose. Sometimes we play pretty well, sometimes we don't but either way if the game is close more often than not we get penalized, give up that big pass play, miss a field goal, take a sack, get tackled and move out of field goal range, jump off sides on a field goal try giving them a first down ect. ect. ect. Teams that make the playoffs year after year and win Superbowls do just the opposite. They put the game away when it's close and they don't make the critical mistakes. We made plenty of mistakes today and let them hang around but all of that would have meant nothing if they only made a couple more plays in the 4th qtr. No matter the QB or how well the defense is playing this team needs to find a way to stop shooting itself in the foot.
  7. Textbook defensive choke in the 4th qtr. Same offense and same mistakes we've been making all year. The defense is supposed to the strength and the difference maker. The offense put enough points on the board that this game should have been winnable vs the Jets.
  8. He improved from "maybe we should cut him this offseason" to every two or three games he shows up. By shows up I mean 4 catches for 60 yards or something that a good reciever does in the first half of most games they play. He appeared to have all the tools when he was drafted to be like a Josh Reynolds or even a Cooper Kupp but he just drops too many passes and continues to do so.
  9. Can't have your defense giving up chunk plays in the 4th qtr when you have a lead. Reminds me of the Rex days.
  10. I think people have this all or nothing complex. I can say I think Allen is great and has tons of potential to be great for the next 15 years 100 times but if I say I thought the pass he threw at the end of the game was a little short people lose their minds. They treat it like if you don't worship the ground he walks on then you think he's a bust.
  11. Anyone else see the no calls on the Pats DB's in the Viking's game? Clearly they call it different for the Pats.
  12. I did a quick count and I'm pretty sure we are up to 6 games with double digit penalties. I know it seems like the refs are out to get us but those are negative plays that kill our drives and keep the other teams drives going. It's just way too many penalties.
  13. It also looked like a "perfect" throw would have been into the end zone.
  14. I really don't see any difference in what either of us said other than you seem to think excuses make it a perfect throw and I don't. There are plenty of reasons why it was a hard throw to make. It definitely looked like it made it to Clay and he had a chance to catch it. It also looked like a "perfect" throw would have been into the end zone.
  15. He was amazing all day outside the pocket. He seems to get happy feet in the pocket a little and has a few throws he kind of fast balls. Every QB has a few throws a game they'd like back. Overall he looked great.
  16. It was amazing that Allen kept that play alive. It definitely appeared to make it to Clay and it looked like he had a chance to catch it. It was not a perfect strike. Given the amount of running around Josh had to do and the distance I can't blame him. Josh made a great play and Clay didn't but it wasn't a perfect throw.
  17. So quick count, if I got it right, we've had six games with double digit penalties. That is nuts.
  18. Allen looks great but he IS making mistakes. He is a rookie and by all means he looks like he should be a very good QB for many years to come but not admitting he has to finish putting it all together is not being realistic. There were a few throws he'd love to have back and plenty he made that were great. End of the day if you want to blame the QB you could say he missed Foster and missed Clay. If you want to be realistic you would say he made enough plays to win and that Clay should have caught it. Either way Allen looked very good and we still didn't win.
  19. Clay or Foster were both throws that only needed to be a little bit and they would have been TD's. Allen looked great. He should have a great future in front of him.
  20. Maybe the most violent foot toss I've ever seen. Lucky he didn't get ejected on that one.
  21. True. There's enough plays there to win that game. Just need better discipline and less ref involvement.
  22. Refs didn't help but the missed extra point meant we couldn't kick a fg to tie and the punt muff was just bad luck/not paying attention. Three turnovers and 13 penalties is a bad recipe.
