  1. I can nit pick too. Coleman was the first pick we used, like I said. I never said first round. Isn't that fun. I'm literally doing 3 different things, checking this while I watch TV, eat, and get ready to go shovel some snow. I'm as likely to format my responses on here as I am a text message to someone while I'm out doing something. I do enjoy the critique. Makes me think of when someone doesn't like the color of rust oleoum I paint my wheel barrow.
  2. What's do you do to guarantee that something changes? The front office has made all the moves you could ask for. They brought in Diggs. They drafted Kincaid and Coleman both first picks in their draft years. Then they went out and traded for Cooper. Diggs needed to make that catch. Kincaid needed to make that catch. Bass needed to make that kick. Offense has been a story of good games and singular failures at key times. All of the belly aching for a deep threat seems to be oblivious to the fact that teams plays us in cover 2 most of the time (so no one is getting deep) and Josh has a fairly dubious record on connecting on deep shots. He can throw it 30 yards across the field running out of bounds the wrong way but get a guy 5 yards behind the defense 40 yards down the field and Josh will put it short or out of bounds half the time. Not that we don't need one but a speed guy or a vertical threat is not the silver bullet everyone thinks it is. The offense needs to keep doing what it's been doing. Get better if it can but mostly close out games in the playoffs and that's not any one player. We already have players that can do it. They just haven't done it.
  3. Cooper wasn't lighting the world on fire in the regular season but he had a couple of decent games with us. What I had a problem with was that he completely disappeared in the playoffs.
  4. Wonder if this thread will make 161 pages like last years WR extravaganza. Some great takes in that thread. I'd like a WR in the draft but I'm with most people saying CB and DT early. Some people liked him last year and somehow I'm not seeing much noise for him this year but Tory Horton is still out there. Still ran a decent 40 after his injury. Might be a nice pick available after we have a CB and a DT.
  5. Is he going to do more than the 13 seconds game? Money doesn't buy you happiness and offense doesn't guarantee you wins. It does help a lot. Still not a guarantee.
  6. Not including Rogers who is probably a future hall of famer, 2 out of the 3 teams you are using here had a QB that made the playoffs this year with another team. So as you would say your point gets lost immediately here ........
  7. Yet here we are in the playoffs every year and a top team in scoring as well. Top 5 on that list have how many playoff visits out of 25 chances?
  8. I'll bite. Tell me why Pola-Mao is a better safety? Or maybe Jason Pinnock? I'm certainly onboard that you shouldn't go into a season with Hamlin as your starter but I'd say the same thing about Rapp and if Bishop hasn't improved I'd say the same thing about him. If you're starting Cam Lewis at safety you probably have problems also. We have almost an entire roster of back up safeties and our best hope for legit starters are Bishop or maybe Forrest. I'll never understand why so many hate Hamlin and are complete apologists for Rapp. Bishop was a rookie who missed time early so he gets some slack but hopefully he's better this year.
  9. I love Cook. I don't think he's worth the 15 million but if Beane gave it to him we'd be better off than Knox and his contract. That said if Knox had been in the media saying he was worth 15 million I'd say he's not also. This organization has shown time and time again it will pay it's players even more than they probably needs to. It's the spouting off in the media that I don't get. I guess I'm just a fan of the quiet millionaire.
  10. Not sure Dalvin is a good career coach. Sure he got a big contract but that same contract probably got him cut, on his way to the Jets, and out of the league.
  11. That's a lot of claims with little to back it up. Please tell me about Rapp's lockdown coverage and Cole getting beat making plays some more.
  12. If you look at rating when targeted Hamlin was better than Cole, Rapp, or Douglas and was only .3 worse than Cam Lewis. Which is why in part arguing that any of them are good enough as starters and then saying Hamlin shouldn't be on the team seems crazy. Cole needs to be improved and it needs to show. Rapp should not be a starter. Rapp and Hamlin are interchangeable in that they both should be veteran back ups that know the defense, can make a tackle, but better passing attacks are going to take advantage of them.
  13. 4th quarter carries. Cook 37 for a 2.4 yard average. Davis 53 for a 3.1 yard average. Davis averages less per carry because they give him the carries at the end of the game to run out the clock. More than half of Davis's caries were 4th quarter running out the clock carries. If you look half to half Davis averages 5.3 and Cook averages 5.8. It's certainly plausible that Davis just gets a much larger percentage of grind the game out carries otherwise their averages would be far more similar. Do I think Cook is a better home run back? Yes. Do I want to pay him 15 million? Not for a second. Am I undervaluing him? No. He's not worth 15 million. If he runs his mouth all offseason and signs a 13 million dollar extension then good for him and welcome back. He runs his mouth all offseason they offer him 12 he doesn't like it and they eventually trade him away I'll wish him good luck and Davis will run somewhere around 1,000 yards and put up double digit TD's.
  14. Cook was out for the Jets game I was at and Davis ran for 97 yards had another 55 receiving. There's alot of positions where our starter is out and I'm worried it will effect our whole game plan. Cook is out and Davis starting does not instantly make me think we can't run our offense. I'd love to have Cook back and I'm not against him trying to get paid but I think everyone knows we are not toothless without him in the offense.
  15. I think (for me) a large thing Cook doesn't understand is that from what most people have seen if you put him out there 3 downs and he's missing blocks and Allen gets hit several times because Cook can't pass block he's going to embarrass himself. The way we take him off the field because of his pass blocking is almost a tell about whether we are running or not.
  16. I don't completely remember but wasn't the beginning of the end for Dalvin not taking a pay cut and getting cut from the Vikings? A trip to NJ and bam lights out. You can self advocate all you want and I agree RB's are undervalued but know how far you can push things because the reason RB's are undervalued is because they are very replaceable. I'd love to have Cook back but it's not unthinkable that Ty (hypothetically) could start 17 games behind this line and put up 900 to 1,000 yards.
  17. Princely weighed in at 244 at the combine. All being opinions. There's many different ways to slice a draft. With two picks fairly close here it's conceivable to get both a DT and Princely. I wouldn't dislike that either. I personally feel like projecting pass rushers is much like pass catchers and is very hit or miss and later pick guys will produce as much as early round guys. That said I like the prospect and I certainly wouldn't be upset with the pick but I want a top DT more than a DE project. If we got both I'd be all smiles.
  18. There's a difference between Hamlin is good and our defense was better when he was in there. I do actually think last years defense was better with Hamlin and Rapp than it was with Cole and Rapp. Right or wrong it certainly wasn't something I'd hang my hat on. I also think the last two years and especially this last year we have played the worst coverage of the Mcermott era. We mixed a matched a motley crue of DB's much of the year.
  19. Take CB first, then your preference of DT. I like Collins but there are several good ones who will be there at 56. Take David Walker later in day 3. He's got the production and actually a little more size. Ezeiruaku wouldn't even be starting if we took him anyways. He'd keep Solomon company.
  20. Visit should help the local economy. He'll be stopping somewhere to eat.
  21. Honestly with all the migration on the defense I think a generational talent has a high probability and I don't think we need to "go get them". Given Hyde, Poyer, and White all leaving we have great opportunities for someone to really step up and be great. From a CB perspective I honestly think the right guy could come in here and be the next Tre White. Injuries aside he could have been generational at CB. Until the injuries he was top 5 year in and year out. I'd love to see Amos but that's just the guy I think fits best. Several guys out there that look good in the draft. In this defense you could really see someone be a difference maker at Safety. Unfortunately I don't see anyone on this roster doing that. Maybe Bishop becomes a coverage guy, I don't see it but I couldn't be happier if I'm completely wrong.
  22. Trade out West for Nohl Williams and Thornton for Evans and I'd be all in for that. Not that I know a lot about or have a problem with West. I just feel like we need more than one CB and with Grant and Collins drafted I'd feel comfortable taking a second corner and not a third DT.
