  1. Ok going back to my original expectations if you told me our defense had a big stop and sacked Lamar at any point in the opening quarter I would have been happy. I was expecting a boat race anyways.
  2. Can you imagine if we draft a CB in the first and 6th and again the one drafted in the 6th becomes our starter? Mind you I could care less as long as we get a starter but it would be a tad ironic.
  3. Offense I love but expected. This defense has me excited.
  4. We're getting some good pressure. Coverage needs to hold up.
  5. Solomon in there with the chase on Lamar previous play.
  6. Not worried about our line I'm worried about our coverage.
  7. Maybe we should look at what they're doing on defense.
  8. That season Otis Anderson got over 1,000 yards and averaged 3.1 yards per carry. It was the epitome of pounding the rock. Two big plays (aside from the kick) I remember is the catch short of the sticks that they turned into a first down. I think it was Baker (might have been Meggett) but we had him short and he fought his way to a first. Also I thought Hostetler was done after Wright flattened him. QB's were made of different stuff back then. I used to watch The George Michael Sports Machine.
  9. I couldn't see him keeping a roster spot this season any ways. It's basically like telling him you can come back next year and try again without getting cut. Next season when he's only needed to be the 4th or 5th DT and he's still on a rookie contract maybe he has a chance.
  10. It was almost a different era but Elway found his SB wins later in his career. I think no discussion in futility would be complete without mentioning Schottenheimer's run in KC. He was there ten years and had some of very good teams. I think one got the cover of SI as a SB favorite. All of those teams didn't make it to the SB. The thing is you can't stare at the ditch. Put your eyes where you want to be and enjoy the ride.
  11. I thought that sounded really high and therefore no way it could be true but we certainly could double last years TO's. Looking at it statistically we turned the ball over well over 20 times every season before Brady took over so even if we did actually double the turnovers from last year it would still be significantly less than we used to turn the ball over. I'd like to think Brady's offensive philosophy and design will keep Allen from going back to the 15 plus interceptions but I could certainly see us having more than two fumbles lost on the year. I think last year was a beginning of a complete rebuild on the defense. I'm hoping our draft and FA signings show some returns which helps keep us grinding the clock with 4th quarter leads.
  12. I can agree with the logic you employ with almost everything except the "Keon and Kincaid are healthy" line of thinking. Kincaid hardly ever seems completely healthy and even when he is it's short lived. I absolutely agree that if they are both healthy 120 catches would be achievable and Kincaid would be the lions share of those catches but using the phrase no doubt to describe an outcome dictated by Kincaid's health is where I lose faith. I still think this offense works and works well and even feel pretty confident Keon will do most of what his part would be but I can't say there's no doubt Kincaid will get 70 or 80 catches.
  13. I think they are trying to really get some speed at CB. Hairston was a 4.28 guy and Kimber is a 4.39 guy. I'm not sure that focus will pan out as they seem to draft Elam for largely the same reason and our only big hit at CB was Benford who was a 4.5 almost 4.6 guy. I like adding Kimber to the PS but I really wish they also had Alexander on there. The only turnover we got all preseason was a FF by Alexander.
  14. Nick Nash cut from Atlanta. Not a track guy but fast enough and a former QB so he knows where and how to get open. Also like Keondre Jackson who got cut from Baltimore. Another box safety but looked good in Bowl games and invitational games and good in the game I watched this preseason. I also like Damien Martinez at RB. We don't need a RB but he offers something we don't have and that's a bigger guy who can still run and has some pretty good feet.
  15. I'd like to see Zy Alexander make it back in some capacity. Practice squad would be a good start.
  16. He gave up more yards and as many TD's as Douglas and a 94 QB rating which isn't good but is better than Douglas's 122. ................ ah .... yes yes I did
  17. How come nobody has signed himi? My guess is he's not healthy. If he was he'd be asking more than we have to spend anyways but that I'll be the first to admit you can juggle the cap. I don't think he's healthy.
  18. This bothers me more than signing Phillips. Klein was the whipping boy beforer Elam and he's not any younger or faster or better at covering anyone. Hopefully Dorian is even better is pass defense this year and Klein doesn't see the field.
  19. If we beat KC last year there's two plays everyone would have remembered. Cooks goal line carry and Phillips blowing up the KC line for the big sack at the goal line and then pressuring Mahommes again 2 plays later.
  20. Weird Pro Football Reference says we had a 70 QB rating throwing at White in last years playoff game. We were 2 for 3 for a whopping 9 yards. White gave up 200 yards on the season and 150 of it was with the Rams when he shouldn't have been starting because he was coming back from injury. I don't think White is the old Tre but I think getting our stories straight is a good start to figuring out what he can do now.
  21. Walker is literally a 21 year old version of 32 year old Jordan Phillips. Maybe they just want Phillips to give him a jump start to playing as a big man that's not a 1 tech in the NFL. I'm certainly not going to crap on Phillips because he loves playing here. It's not his job to decide who's fit to be on the 53 man roster. He probably has as much to offer as anyone else after Oliver, Sanders, Jones, and Walker. Maybe they are going to trade Jones? Who knows.
  22. Our coaching staff loves a high motor edge edge setter/pocket collapser. As much as our staff wants pass rushers they draft run stopping DE's and pass rushing DTs. Solomon being the outlier who probably has the most upside as a pure pass rusher.
