  1. Copied and pasted Correlation means there is a statistical association between variables. Causation means that a change in one variable causes a change in another variable.
  2. I think in this case correlation dose equal causation. You give up a bunch of rushing yards you lose more. There is a statistical association between the variables and a change in one variable (rushing yards given up) makes a change in the other (losses).
  3. I've said it before I'll say it again ......... he's a 1 tech like Jordan Phillips (who played for us) is a 1 tech.
  4. I don't hate the pick. Especially at this stage of the draft. I hope he's not supposed to be our run stopper though. He's big I'll give them that.
  5. The correlation between rushing yards given up and losses would be my guess. Higher the rushing yards given up the more frequent the losses. Look at the January games on that list. I count 4 January games we've given up over 120 yards rushing and have 1 win in those games.
  6. Would love to see us end the day with Horton and Maritnez. I wanted Harris to work out here as a change of pace guy. I think Martinez would be a nice down hill runner. Think I dropped some food on my keyboard. Some letters aren't working right
  7. We've spent how many picks on DE's and DT's? I can think of one time a player drafted by Beane led the team in sacks. They draft DE's for their run stopping ability and DT's for their pass rushing ability. We end up with DE's who get 7 or 8 sacks and DT's who get 5 sacks and we hold our breath against teams that run the ball well. It's the system we run. Oliver is a great 3 tech. Sanders looks like he'll be a good 3 tech. Same with the other DT's. Problem is habitually our "plan" for stopping the run is perfect execution on every play and keeping Zion Logue on the practice squad and calling him up a few times a year. If Sanders turns out to be a great pass rusher it will be a win over Carter and if he can sure up the run that will be a bonus.
  8. While I don't disagree if you can't stop the run you never get there because you end up cheating up your secondary. The easy answer is to have guys that do both. We forsake one for the other and hope that execution is 100 percent on every play. Then in big games we are so worried about the run we get caught looking for the run even though everyone on the field is out there to stop the pass.
  9. Imagine your pass rush not having to stop on the way to the QB because your DT's are getting thrown out of the club. Eagles took a 24 to nothing lead at the half and the Chiefs only ran 17 plays so if Jordan Davis only played 14 plays I'm not surprised. Chiefs RB's only had 7 carries all game. Wonder why they don't run the ball vs the Eagles but have 35 carries (24 by RB's) vs us?
  10. I actually think Biggers isn't a bad late late round pick but my guess is they'll just keep Logue on the practice squad and call him up now and then. We'll continue have anxiety about stopping the run on a week to week basis. That said we should be a nightmare on passing downs.
  11. Deone Walker is a 1tech like Jordan Phillips (who played for us) is a 1tech.
  12. Watched the Beane press conference and he made a lot of sense. An interior pass rusher is something you spend draft capital on over a big 1 tech. Having a nights sleep and watching Sanders some more I"m pretty happy with the pick. After some rest I came to the conclusion I was initially mad we don't have a run stopper not that we traded around picks and took Sanders. Sanders looks like he'll be a beast and great with Oliver and in the rotation over all. Beane says you can get a 1tech to stop the run anywhere. I hope he proves it.
  13. I've found out several things this draft cycle. One is that I shouldn't stay up past 9 or 10 o'clock. I generally get up at 3 in the morning for work but since I'm on vacation i've been staying up late watching the draft and my brain isn't working right that late at night. Second is that Brandon Beane is smooth and confidence (for the most part) inspiring. Watched his press conferences this morning feeling pretty good about life.
  14. Hell Tim Tebow was a first round pick
  15. Don't the Chiefs play a 3 - 4? Is he playing 3-4 end? Jones plays all over the line. Gillotte going to be a rush end I'd imagine. Just my two cents but I thought was one of the better sleepers pass rush wise.
  16. I thought Lott was going to start beside Jones? Your right about Gillotte though he's probably going to rotate.
  17. I must have fallen asleep for a few. So the Cheifs got an OT, Norman-Lott, Gillotte, and Nohl Williams. So four picks out of the first 85 selections. The Chiefs possibly picked up 4 starters. We might have 1 starter out of our first 3 picks.
  18. Cardinals with Nolen, Johnson, and Burch now that's a haul.
  19. Chiefs with Gillotte and Nohl Williams.
  20. So we have a pocket collapsing DE who isn't bendy but can play the run and a "pass rushing" DT who probably isn't going to help greatly with our run stopping but might collect 2 to 4 sacks in our rotation? Someone tell me why I'm wrong because no joke I hope I'm completely wrong. We just drafted a second set of Rousseau and Oliver (ceiling) or AJ and Carter 2.0 (floor).
  21. Maybe we'll take a 6'6" DE who has a high motor and is best described as a pocket collapser to go along with our squadron of DT's who are all 3techs who get 2 or 3 sacks a year and a pack of safeties who all run the 40 and finish behind Tremaine Edmunds and can't find their man until the ball is in his hands and he's 7 yards down the field. I'd rather complain now. Laugh about how wrong I was later and admit this is why I'm not a professional. I hope Sanders is a beast and Rapp and Bishop come out and play some lock down coverage. I was typing this and we literally did it.
  22. He's the closest thing to Hyde you'll find left in this draft. He's going to cover guys that Hamlin and Rapp (or Bishop) can't cover. It's part of the reason we don't get off the field on 3rd down. We could have stayed put and taken a DT and Mukuba.
  23. I'm not afraid of a 290 pound DT. Nolen had really high grades both rushing the passer and as a run stopper. Sanders is not Nolen. The fear (my fear) is that he's the exact same guy we traded up for last year. From now until he shows up in a game and plays better than Carter I'm going to wonder why we take pass rushing 3techs who at the end of the season have a sack maybe two more than the UDFA guy we picked up off waivers to stop the run because we are getting owned by the Ravens or Colts.
