By all accounts Sanders should be a great pick. Walker seems like coaching would make the biggest difference for him. Who has more upside Sanders or Walker? Touche ................ you got me there.
-
Tell me what Benfords 40 time is and then explain how a 4.56 means he can't play corner.
-
Zy Alexander have a medical flag? Surprised he's still available.
-
Obviously never take just one source for the the absolute truth but here's one write up. For a seventh round pick I'll take it. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Kaden-Prather-WR-WestVirginia
-
Second half of the draft Beane is pulling gems out of the rough left and right. Prather has great size and most of the ingredients to be a decent WR.
-
This late I'd still take Wease or Prather at WR. Like that they drafted some DB's we had Benford, White, Hairston, Johnson and a bunch of nothing special.
-
Yes you need to draft pass rushers but you sure as hell need coverage guys. Hancock and especially Strong could have been drafted much earlier as DB's. Both should be able to help in a variety of ways. You want to rush the passer you have to keep the pass from coming out early. This is a defensive over haul and I love it.

Bills 5th Round Pick (#1) : Jordan Hancock - CB - The Ohio State

Sounds like we have a whole bunch of box/shell coverage safeties and this is finally the guy who can play coverage and possibly safety. I'm getting overly optimistic but I like the pick. We need guys who can stop passes from being thrown. -
Bassa might be a decent fit.

If it comes to a late late pick Prather can catch and Lambert Smith can run fast in a straight line

Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky

The eagles also drafted 4 DB's in the last two drafts because it's not all just pass rush. Mahommes had no where to throw and the pressure got there. If he has the ball out in 2 seconds pass rush is a lot less effective. Mitchell and DeJean had as much to do with it as the D Line. -
Is this a make or break season for the defense?
Maine-iac replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's almost as if the only problem we had on defense was pass rush. We've done little to go after stopping the run or coverage with the obvious exclusion of Hairston. Granted a nice side effect of all the young DT's is hopefully some of them end up being good run fits but it's not why they were drafted. -
Zeek Biggers here we come .... JK we don't draft 1 techs.
-
Can we just find a way to get Horton?
-
Walker is going to be Suggs like.
-
Which is too bad a couple years ago before he got hurt he was on fire. Looked like a plus 1 tech and was very disruptive beside Oliver. Hopefully these young guys come in and look like someone lit their hair on fire.

How are we even going to carry this many DT's into the regular season? How many DL players do we have now?

Bills 2nd Rnd pick in 2025 Draft : TJ Sanders - DT South Carolina

Copied and pasted Correlation means there is a statistical association between variables. Causation means that a change in one variable causes a change in another variable. -

I think in this case correlation dose equal causation. You give up a bunch of rushing yards you lose more. There is a statistical association between the variables and a change in one variable (rushing yards given up) makes a change in the other (losses). -
Bills 4th Round Pick : Deone Walker - DT - Kentucky

I've said it before I'll say it again ......... he's a 1 tech like Jordan Phillips (who played for us) is a 1 tech. -

I don't hate the pick. Especially at this stage of the draft. I hope he's not supposed to be our run stopper though. He's big I'll give them that. -

The correlation between rushing yards given up and losses would be my guess. Higher the rushing yards given up the more frequent the losses. Look at the January games on that list. I count 4 January games we've given up over 120 yards rushing and have 1 win in those games. -
Would love to see us end the day with Horton and Maritnez. I wanted Harris to work out here as a change of pace guy. I think Martinez would be a nice down hill runner. Think I dropped some food on my keyboard. Some letters aren't working right

Bills 2nd Rnd pick in 2025 Draft : TJ Sanders - DT South Carolina
Maine-iac replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
We've spent how many picks on DE's and DT's? I can think of one time a player drafted by Beane led the team in sacks. They draft DE's for their run stopping ability and DT's for their pass rushing ability. We end up with DE's who get 7 or 8 sacks and DT's who get 5 sacks and we hold our breath against teams that run the ball well. It's the system we run. Oliver is a great 3 tech. Sanders looks like he'll be a good 3 tech. Same with the other DT's. Problem is habitually our "plan" for stopping the run is perfect execution on every play and keeping Zion Logue on the practice squad and calling him up a few times a year. If Sanders turns out to be a great pass rusher it will be a win over Carter and if he can sure up the run that will be a bonus. -

While I don't disagree if you can't stop the run you never get there because you end up cheating up your secondary. The easy answer is to have guys that do both. We forsake one for the other and hope that execution is 100 percent on every play. Then in big games we are so worried about the run we get caught looking for the run even though everyone on the field is out there to stop the pass.
