So he's currently got 5 more catches playing in 1 less game than with Taylor is that supposed to prove your point?

He's never had a defense that has held teams under 23 ppg so you'd have a hard time verifying that. Flip side the Pats have only given up over 20ppg 3 times in Brady's whole career and even then it was never more than 22. We could definately reach the playoffs with Taylor with a better defense. We could also do better than Taylor at QB. In one scenario we fix the defense and in the other we "simply" find a "franchise" QB. We should try to do both. Woods might not even break his own best for catches in a season. He's got more yards and he's in a passing offense but he's not lighting the world on fire compared to what he did here.

I'll bite. I could join the circle jerk but I think Taylor has some good plays. He does some dumb things also but I don't think he's "bad". He just isn't "put the team on your back good". We have a team that needs to be carried because it seldom plays defense for 4 quarters, and a fan base that expects Brady but has a roster that wouldn't be pass catching on most teams practice squads. Draft a next level QB? Yes please do it, but don't keep trying to force Peterman out there just because he's not Taylor. Then we have the case of Tyrod Taylor, whom Buffalo benched this week. Taylor actually ranked 10th in conversion rate (42.4 percent) even though he had the fourth-highest need yards (8.7). His ALEX dropped to -0.1 this season, ranked 29th. We've seen this continued change in Taylor's game. In his first season with Buffalo, his ALEX was +4.5, which ranked second in the NFL. It dropped to +2.3 in 2016, but still good enough for seventh in the league, and he was better at converting plays. Taylor's conversion rate was actually a career best this year, but alas he is benched after the Bills allowed 81 points in two losses. A big problem this year was the massive changes at wide receiver. Taylor was targeting running back LeSean McCoy more than anyone on third down, and those 16 targets produced a -10.9 ALEX. In 2016, Taylor's go-to targets on third down were deep threats Marquise Goodwin (+6.2 ALEX) and Sammy Watkins (+7.1 ALEX). Taylor did it when he got sacked for a 15 yard loss but every game there are drive killing negative plays. I am fairly certain even though Shady is a decent pass catcher we have one of the worst screen games in the NFL. It's frustrating because not only are we missing out on some easy yards but it goes a long ways toward slowing down a pass rush. Meanwhile if you suck at executing screens they are only going to come harder. I remember in particular an 8 yard loss in the second half. I wanted to beat up on Taylor for it again but watched the replay and it was the designed play. It was just either horribly executed or NE completely was ready for it.

My only caveat to all of this is that this is what the Pats do. For the most part nobody outscores the Pats. While most give this credit to Brady and the offense and they definitely deserve a share of it. The Pats defense always makes plays and most importantly they just get better as the game goes on. Teams that beat the Pats always have a defense that literally has Brady running and/or confused for 4 quarters. So as much as the blame will get dropped on Taylor and to some extent the refs for a reason. I have to say the defense, like the offense, only brought about half of what it needed to beat the Pats. We needed 4 quarters of offense and we needed 4 quarters of defense and we didn't get either.

Tyrod made some big throws in this game. The problem is, and some do not seem to understand, that you just aren't going to be able to throw on 3rd and 15 with any regularity You need to get positive plays most of the time. We had a number of really good drives. Tyrod had two bad plays that you will hear all week. He missed Clay on a deep route. Clay was open long enough Taylor should have thrown it, the corner caught up to him later but the ball should have been there. Then the sack. It had me yelling at the TV and is a mistake Taylor makes too often. I imagine he thought he could out run the guy but he didn't. He got dropped for a 15 yard loss and then it's 2nd and 25. To compound the whole thing they then ran Tolbert on 2nd and 25. Taylor actually made a number of nice throws, many of which were actually to the WR's. A lot of other games it might have been enough but the refs, a couple big negative plays, and the defense folding and the Pats were too much.

Well Shaw it seems you've soured on Taylor. Can't say I blame you. The sack was ugly. Really ugly. He made some nice throws. Some good plays. I still think he can play QB but no doubt there's a level of play above his that we are searching for. I still say being a good team starts with playing better defense and that's not on Taylor but the big games like today you need a QB who puts the pressure on the other team every drive. I would like to see the team get better and if they can bring in a better QB that would be great. A really good 0C wouldn't hurt either. It's truly a hard measuring stick to put everything up against because the Pats chew even the best teams up an spit them out. Brady spend entirely too much time surveying the field. His jersey probably doesn't even need to get washed after the game.

No negative plays. Taylor can make plays at QB. He does make some bad plays but with regularity he can make good plays. Put him in 3rd and 5 or 3rd and 3 and he'll do well. Try a 30 yard pass on first and he'll hold the ball and get sacked. Call a Jet sweep on first and get tackled for a 5 yard loss or get called for holding and you are basicaly killing a drive. Keep everything on schedule. Make positive plays.

Cooks clearly thought Hyde had the pick and then realized the ball was miles away but put two hands into him and grabbed him and the refs flagged Hyde anyways.

Everyone does realize some Taylor mistakes, some bad playcalling, overall we have moved the ball. You can't however move the ball or outscore someone if your defense can't stop anyone. Since the interception we haven't stopped them at all.

Too many mistakes, and the refs against us. Have to play near perfect and hope the refs leave us alone for one week.

For all the armchair QB's in here. He threw it where the play was designed to go. It's not on him that the play sucked. Missing Clay deep in the first half, on him. That play, on Dennison.
