well we would already know either way at least right? Or would you be making excuses for Rosen too? I can hear it now "He had to come in for Peterman unexpectedly as a rookie and last year was only his second year but he seemed to be improving. He still only 23 years old and UCLA seemed to be playing a pro style offense but he wasn't making pre-snap reads. He deserves at least two more years to grow."
-
Exactly. This is why I didn't want Allen. Even if he reaches his ceiling how many years will it take? This thread is a good example of why it's a bad idea to take project QB. The OP wants to give him more time, ok but we are wasting a pretty good defense while we wait for the offense to catch up. Then once he is good(hopefully) he is paid over 30 million dollars a year making it hard to keep talent around him. Will the excuses be back then? If we had Mahomes, Watson, or Jackson (in the right system) last year we are super bowl contenders with our defense.

gotcha. I’d be willing to overpay slightly as long as the years weren’t too much. Transition or franchise tags might be a better option considering they will go down if the cap does and gives more time to decide what Allen’s contract might look like. Even if the cap goes down they will have the space until Allen’s contract goes up so might as well spend it on Milano as opposed to overpaying someone in free agency.

Plenty of time before Ford, Knox, Epenesa and future picks need extensions. By that time Murphy, Hughes, Star, etc. will be off the books. At the very least franchise or transition tag Milano for a year until we know if Allen is getting big bucks. If the cap goes down those tags will also go down. Only on this board have I ever heard fans worry about the salary cap implications of extensions for future draft picks.

McDermott contract extension
Rock-A-Bye Beasley replied to Estro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How easily we forget the Peterman debacle and the first half against the dolphins coming out of a bye last season. Let’s celebrate! this could be true. QB is kinda important and both of our wildcard -exit teams had below average ones. What would the best at the most important position have done? -

how do you define “ in the running”? vegas odds are 1 in 32 for Bills to win the super bowl this season. -
McDermott contract extension

no harm. But the risk is that the Bills continue to lose to good teams. Even if we are 9-3 next year but get blown out by SF, KC, and SEA while being out coached, there’s a good chance we have the next Marvin Lewis on our hands. edit: 9-3 through 12 games -
McDermott contract extension

I hope you’re right. I would have waited until after week 12 to see how they’ve played against SF, SEA, and KC not to mention the division games. I also want to see if the game management improves now that he has hired someone to help deal with those decisions. What’s the benefit of extending him now as opposed to next offseason? Maybe you save some money if he wins 12 games but I don’t imagine you risk losing him. -

Tyreek is a good player but he benefits immensely from Mahomes. Look at his stats before Mahomes. His sophomore season was basically John Brown last year. Then Mahomes arrives and his numbers explode. I would put Evans ahead of Hill and Beckham, but OBJ could have a bounce back year. -
Browns out of the bid for Clowney

Clowney is overrated because of the Michigan hit? that take reminds me of “DK Metcalf is overrated because of his combine and physique” both are so very wrong. -

Then keep going. Seems like there are only a handful “Redskins” being most offensive because it’s so on the nose including the logo. -

Nope to all -
Misses the point? What’s the point? You’re talking about winning the division and your evidence is making the playoffs. Wins or losses against the patriots have more effect on the division tie breakers, so McDermott’s record against them matters.

I’m having trouble finding the information about when signings are no longer counted in the comp pick calculations. I suspect the Cam signing was well past the deadline but can anyone confirm? if so, the 3rd they’re going to get for Brady leaving was salvaged on the same day they lost a 3rd for cheating. huh? The question was who is going to win the division. Nothing was said about playoffs. It’s easier to make the playoffs now with an extra wild card team. Another statement that has nothing to do with the question.

McDaniels did fine with Tebow. Cam is much better than that.

The weakness of Coach McD

I have no doubt he considers all those things. He just makes the wrong decision repeatedly. I can’t shake the comparison to basketball. Like I said before, it would be laughable if a basketball coach at any level repeatedly gave up possessions and cited any of those reasons. Not sure why football coaches get away with it. It’s probably more likely to turn the ball over in basketball. -

Haha It’s not a “mathematical formula”, it’s pretty simple common sense. Even basketball teams with big leads will do the 2 for 1 because it’s such a fundamental part of the game. I would rather have a turnover or 3 and out than willfully give up a possession in a game before it’s over. Not only is it stupid but it’s cowardly. I thought it was hilarious when McDermott just wanted to run the clock out at the half of a game and singletary ripped off a big gain, ruining his plans. I could envision him saying “ok guys you can try but only a field goal then let’s go inside” -

Maybe if you’re up three scores or more, but mcdermott has never been in that situation. He has done it in games the Bills are trailing and the other team is reviving the second half kickoff. -

The most frustrating thing is the end of half kneel down or run the clock out and the people that defend it. Why is it that football coaches get a pass for this? Can you imagine if a basketball coach was called out for repeatedly not attempting the 2 for 1 and his response was “well what if the other team stole it from us!” the more offensive possessions you have the better chance to win. It’s not up for debate.
