I do not see them letting him go. He'd be too hard to replace. With his age, they can give him a long contract and spread out the cap hit.

Bills Coaching Staff Changes Thread
jkeerie replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thank you so much for this! I consider myself knowledgeable but not about X's and O's. So I often don't know whether to attribute an issue to players or the scheme. There are so many opinions on this board...but those as knowledgeable as yours are rare. I appreciate the instruction. -

I can agree with this and that is what both McD and Beane said in their pressers. Do you think coaching changes are warranted? -

Thank you for this explanation. You are obviously very knowledgable about the X's and O's. So based on this, what do you see as the root cause of our defensive struggles last Sunday? I'm really interested in getting an educated, objective opinion. -
Bill Parcells says Josh Allen needs help

Great minds! Stevie Wonder said the same thing. -
Exactly! The entire team sucked...which does include the coaches. McD said as much in his presser, as did Beane. We as fans think we have the answers. We definitely need better players. Some on defense we'll get back as they come back from injury. I can't help but think that with a healthy Hyde and Poyer, even without Von, we would have been better on Sunday, but I'm using just what I've seen in the past. Offensively we are lacking and need to bring in new blood. The coaching needs to be better though on both sides of the ball to better utilize the players brought in.

Didn't Denver think the same thing?

Von Miller loves the guy and raved about him in the end of season presser. -
Mel Kiper is back and you won’t like it

Thank you for this. I'm familiar with Parker Washington being a Penn State fan. I just saw, I think a CBS sports mock that has the Bills taking O'Cyrus Torrence, G from Florida. They mentioned him on that same broadcast in conjunction with the Senior Bowl. Is the better depth at interior OLine or WR in this draft? -

I was listening to the NFL on Sirius XM briefly this evening and they mentioned that this is not a great draft for WR. Can any of our resident draft experts speak to the depth and strength positions in this draft? -
Old Buffalo Bills Message Board

I was on that board. -
I cannot argue with this.

Remember, though, after that incident we would have been down half of our secondary, losing Damar and Taron who went out with a head injury earlier. So...not sure what we could have adjusted or even what we could have learned.
-
I couldn't agree with this first part more. That game...and that incident...ended the Bills season. Their focus was gone. It was no longer on football. Interestingly, how many of us fans in those moments during that Monday night game said and felt the same thing? Suddenly, who cared about football. Please let Damar be okay is what we all collectively thought and prayed. The rest of the season be damned. That's why I'm bummed by all this vitriol. We actually got what we said we wanted at the time. Well...that was it for the season. We got by the Pats on emotion. Then nearly lost to the Dolphins because they came into the game with their own energy and emotion. I didn't expect the Bills to get past the Bengals. They came in with an edge. The Bills had nothing. They were overmatched on every level. Hopefully, it leads to the necessary changes in this off-season. If it doesn't, I will likely share in some of that vitriol. For now...I'm good. But go NFC!

There was only one game this year when I appreciated Frazier. That was the KC game. The defense he dialed up on the last play that resulted in Mahomes getting picked off by Taron was masterful. Having said that, I think too many times he coaches scared. There was not a DB within 10 yards of the Bengal receivers in this last game. I'm so done with his passive defenses.

If we move on from Frazier, Wilks is who I would expect. Word is Panthers really want an offensive minded HC.

We as fans had a hard time getting over that Monday night. Many of us decided that the rest of the season was irrelevent. Think what it has been like for the players. The team was not the same after that night. Yes, Damar, recovered...but the man, their teammate...who plays the same game they do...still almost died while playing that game. So...I actually saw it as the end of this season. The way the season came to an end...against the very team when the incident occurred...was what I expected. So...the players will go through their off-seasons sorting out feelings still. Some...will be able to think about football, being better next year, etc but for some it stopped being about football that Monday night. McD, the coaches and Beane have to get back to X's and O's, who stays, who goes, etc. We will see how the off season plays out.

I'm listening to the presser now. His point about Spencer Brown at the end was "We're not going to give him a roster spot. We're going to bring in competition." This year, none of the O linemen they had on the roster could unseat him...not because he was good, but because they were worse. At the time we had the top 10 pick, we were still building both sides of the ball. He went with Oliver on the defensive side. Then he got Diggs the following year. As I recall, most folks were happy with both those moves. He clearly believes he needs to see much more from Oliver. The Bengals got Chase because he played with Burrows at LSU. They had a chemistry. Who did Josh play with at Wyoming that would be as immediately compatible? I think that's why Beane went with veteran receivers to help Josh so they wouldn't both be learning at the same time. As to the rest of the presser, I don't expect Beane to trash anyone in the media...just like McD. So these folks that are hearing "run it back"...I"m not hearing that. I'm hearing some things he's happy with, but that they have a lot of work to do.

Everybody's Feeling Stung right Now but please.....
jkeerie replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
Totally agree with this. In fact, I'm sort of glad we lost big to the Bengals. In the close loss last year, we thought we were one player away, so we get that player in Von and Beane drafts for depth. It worked in that we beat KC again and that one player was the difference maker. But with all the injuries, the depth was severely tested and didn't hold up. We thought we were set offensively because of how well the offense played in last year's division round. This year's loss showed a boatload of problems on that side of the ball. I'm anxious to hear what Beane says today in his presser. There is very little else to say in terms of threads critiquing the team and the usual "off with their heads" posts. I will be hopeful to read of some coaching changes that I believe are warranted. I am most anxious to read threads from knowledgable folks regarding the draft...particularly oline and WR prospects...and who the Bills might target picking at 27 (according to NFL.com). Also, who would you re-sign, who would you bring in to replace players that should be let go. etc? -
Thank you for coming. Have a nice day...elsewhere.

1. Unless he's willing to come cheap. He looked shot, but he was injured. 2. No argument. 3. Could he move inside? 4. Agree or sign him long term. 5. No argument. Dorsey will continue to put too much on Josh's shoulders. 6. No argument. 7. If Singletary is willing to sign a team friendly deal, he still has value. 8. Disagree. I think Tre will be fine. He was coming around but may have been impacted by the snow today. More tentative. 9. Yes. 10. Yes 11. Yes. 12. Diggs will be fine. See number 5. 13. Not sure. Let's see what Shakir can do? 14. Can't argue with this. Need a better WR corps in general.

Against weaker opponents. Stop trying to compare apples and oranges. The Bills lost to a better team today. That means they need to build a better team.
-
He hasn't gotten one interview this year and he's not likely to. I do agree the Bills need to make a change. Let's hope they do.
-
No. This one doesn't hurt. This team stopped thinking about football when Damar happened. At that point, football became an afterthought. There was a happy ending but it had nothing to do with winning football games. And that's okay. The better team actually won today. The Bills have lots of work to do...yet again. But it will be done in the off-season. I will watch the rest of the season andl enjoy it with no regrets. This was not a season of "what could have been." This was a season of what was...difficult, harrowing...but when it comes to football...it was what it was.

In my opinion, we played with a backup oline as well. Maybe one or two could be starters on a real oline. We need ro set a higher standard.
