  1. Derrick Harvey Dustin Keller Jordy Nelson
  2. I'd rather have Clady, who has played tackle his entire collegiate career.
  3. Hmmm... should I take the Pats? Seems to be no more spots left
  4. Don't think taking a safety in the Top 8 is a bad idea, per se... BUT... Roy Williams, Sean Taylor (RIP), and Laron Landry are in a far superior class than Donte Whitner and Huff. 2006 was not a year to devote a top 10 pick to a safety... important position, no argument there... but Whitner simply is not in that class (yet). I for one would be thrilled to eat crow if I see it happen this year, or any year for that matter That said, I think it was fairly evident even before the draft, that Whitner is not in the same class as Roy Will, Sean T, Palomalu, etc... Go Bills So in my view, your numbers still don't justify that pick.
  5. ... and we picked him the top 10. Huge difference. Taking a Top 15 player in the Top 10 is just not a smart thing to do, particularly when your team has a number of holes (as the Bills did).
  6. What they paid to move back and get Poz was ridiculous, especially with David Harris still on the board. Marv said after the draft that the Bills were aggressively trying to trade back into the FIRST ROUND to get him.
  7. Chris Kelsay signed a 4 year deal with $8M signing bonus and an initial roster bonus of $3 million. 2008: $1.4 million, 2009: $3 million, 2010: $3.7 million You amortize the signing bonus over the length of the contract and his cap figure is at LEAST $3.5M annually. Hardly chump change for an average player.
  8. I'm not saying Schobel is overpaid. Because we overpaid for Christina Kelsay, we had no choice but to pay Schobel market value, even though he had a few years left on his deal!
  9. If you were talking about Chris Kelsay & Derrick Dockery, I'd be right there with ya. We were forced to overpay for Schobel after grossly overpaying for Christina Kelsay.
  10. Schobel is not the problem on this defense, far from it. Did the Bills make a mistake in paying Chris Kelsay top dollar and thus forcing themselves to extend Schobel with a few years remaining on his deal? Yes. But he's still a pretty f-ing good player. If the team can find another very good rusher opposite Schobel (Kelsay doesn't count), then he has the potential to flat-out dominate. Make it happen Russ Brandon.
  11. Frankly, I don't know what the future holds. But I'm willing to give this franchise (and it's ownership) the benefit of the doubt given the recent string success they've had. From my vantage point, they know what the hell they're doing. To insinuate that the Sabres, in one off year, can be compared to the mismanagement that is the Buffalo Bills is awfully harsh.
  12. Facts: Golisano bought the team in 2003. He has owned the Sabres for 4 seasons now (one season was cancelled in the labor dispute). 2 out of those 4 seasons, his team has made the conference championship. That is pretty f-ing good. Contrast that to the Bills' long-standing streak of missing the playoffs in a parity-driven league, it looks even better. Golisano also made a number of moves to bring the fans back to the stadium. He lowered ticket prices, made some key front office hires, and brought respectability back to the franchise. Judging from the fact that his teams have made the conference championship 2 out of the 4 seasons over which he has presided, one would think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. As for Ralphie, actually screw it.. I'm not even going to go there... appreciate him keeping the team in Buffalo, but not much more than that.
  13. Over the years, they have drafted well and made some solid trades. Let's see what they do this year. The Bills, on the other hand, have been void of talent going on 10 years!
  14. Nice knee-jerk reaction. Let's see how long the Sabres remain out of playoff contention before comparing Golisano to one of the worst owners in football. Given that they have a solid coaching staff and an excellent front office, I have hope for the franchise. The Bills, on the other hand, have been an inept franchise for a decade, in large part, thanks to our bumbling owner.
  15. Did you know Jason Peters is one of the dumbest humans alive? He's still a great tackle though
  16. He also said OL... I do think that if we stick to #11, taking either the best DL or OL is the right way to go. And then we can watch a Steve Smith-like receiver fall to our laps in round 2. If the WRs are all gone by then, we take a top-notch Tight End.
  17. The Giants didn't spend THEIR first rounder on Plax... so I don't really think that's a valid comparison. I think what the Giants did in last year's draft is a perfect example of how I'd like to see the Bills play it -- they found a starting CB in round 1 and managed to get a good young receiver in round 2 (Steve Smith). Both players were instrumental in the team's championship run. I think this year's draft is very deep at WR and thus the need can be addressed later in the draft. The Bills have no depth at O-Line, are stacked with 2nd-rate players at CB, and could always use more young talent in the DL. I think those 3 areas are better served with a first rounder... and James Hardy will fall into our laps in the second.
  18. This part's not accurate.
  19. Because this team is a lot further from competing than a lot of us think. I'm all for finding a big, tall wide receiver to help out an inept offense and a young quarterback desperately in need of some weapons... in ROUND 2. We need an infusion of young, cheap talent at the lines and more playmakers on defense. Until you address those needs, spending a top-15 pick on a WR is a luxury this team simply doesn't have... - Our OL is very thin. One injury and we're back to square one. - The DL needs more playmakers. Stroud is coming off an injury... I hope he plays lights out, but he has a lot of mileage on him, make no mistake about it -- there has to be a reason why Jax was so willing to let him go within the conference. Adding a young stud at DE will do wonders for the 3rd down defense that was so woeful. - We lack a true #1 CB. We have a roster full of second and third cornerbacks but this team needs a lock-down corner that can match up one on one with the likes of Moss, Braylon Edwards, etc... If they trade down, grab some extra picks and THEN take a WR lower in the first round, it's something I can live with. Thankfully, however, this draft is VERY deep at WR. It looks like it can wait until the 2nd round.
  20. AKC, please stop wasting your time arguing with people who don't really understand that a dominating interior defense is a virtual must-have to win regularly in the NFL. Let them fantasize over WRs and RBs... there's a reason why they drink the kool-aid year after year. These are the same people who have predicted an 11-5 record for the past 5 years. It's a beautiful day out here in Cali... go out and enjoy it. I would be, were it not for these damn taxes
  21. And they sure regret making that pick, judging by the barrage of signings they made in free agency.
