I hope we don't trade Takeo Spikes.

and same injury as Julian Peterson, who was a force for Seattle and recorded 10 sacks. -
Granted we have another year of experience for the young safeties (which will be huge), I don't think the gain there offsets the loss of Clements. The one wild card here is Terrance McGee... perhaps he will step up his game a notch or two, in which case, we might not feel the loss of Clements as heavily as anticipated. However, from what I have seen of McGee, he has the athletic ability but just doesn't have the mental toughness to be an upper echelon corner in this league. When things are going well, he's as good as they come. If he gets beat once, it tends to stick with him and he gets beat multiple times after that. Maybe he'll improve, time will tell... but I think the fact remains that McGee will be a key player for us next year, more than we know.

... wait for it... wait for it... DOOMED!

THANK YOU. As Denver has shown us time after time, starting backs can be found in the middle rounds.

If Peterson and Lynch fall to us at 12

When "Teflon Tom" jumped on that deal in 2001, he parlayed pick #14 into Nate Clements, Travis Henry and Brandon Spoon. Granted Spoon never panned out, Henry and Clements together ended up being way more valuable than a mid first round pick. Good, starting-caliber running backs CAN BE FOUND after round 1! -

Doctor, You have not properly diagnosed the patient. The Buffalo Bills have many needs. - They are razor thin at running back - They will likely be in need of 2, maybe more quality linebackers (to replace Spikes & Fletcher) - They need a playmaking cornerback (to replace Clements) - They need defensive linemen (they need more depth at DL and DE) If they happen to lose out on Willis, there are plenty of other options that can help this team. If this team was a player or two away, honing in on a single player makes sense. Unfortunately, that is far from the case. -

This is the exactly line of thinking that made the Bills stupidly stay at #8 because they targeted "their guy" Whitner. The whole point of trading down is to aquire extra, high quality picks to fill out your roster. A lot of times you do so targetting one player, but in most cases, it is done to aquire extra picks. Suppose they trade down and Patrick Willis is gone. BIG DEAL. There are plenty of good players available in the draft and that's why they have a "draft board." -

Correction: You TRADE DOWN to a team desperate for a RB and collect an extra 2nd. Then draft Willis later in the first. -
Lions still looking to deal Tatum Bell?

When I suggested the same, I didn't have a whole lot of support from the peanut gallery -
LB thread.....For Defensive Geniuses

Agree, although I think Willis will be taken ahead of Timmons. With that being said, a smart move would be to trade down to #20 or 21, pick up an extra 2nd rounder and draft Timmons. -
In 2005, the Falcons were 10th in Red Zone conversion, scoring a TD 57% of the time. In 2006, after getting rid of Duckett, the Falcons were 27th in Red Zone conversion, scoring a TD 43% of the time. Coincidence? I think not. Bottom line is that Duckett is clearly undervalued and would be a good signing in the $1M range as opposed to the comparably expensive contracts the Bills dole out to the likes of Robert Royal, Peerless Price and Tutan Reyes.
-
Their names were Mike Vick and Justin Griffith. Uh, OK.
-
Get your facts straight... he was not a 3rd stringer in ATL, he was right behind Warrick Dunn on the depth chart. When they brought in Norwood, he became expendible. When used properly, Duckett can bring a lot of value -- especially in goal line and short yardage situations. Is he going to win the rushing title? No. Is he a homerun threat? Hell no. But he's an undervalued player who would address one of the Bills' major deficiencies over the past few years: goal line and short yardage. I for one am sick and tired of watching Rian Lindell trot onto the field for yet another 20 yard field goal attempt.
-
He's a solid goal line back. He averaged 10 TDs a season in ATL which is pretty damn good, especially for a team like the Bills who have had major problems punching it in and converting in short yardage situations. I remember when he played against Buffalo in 2005, our defense couldn't bring him down. He averaged over 6 yards a carry. He's not a homerun threat, but he is a solid short yardage back.... and most importantly, he's undervalued. Whoever signs him will get a bargain.
-
- He was a first round pick - He's only 26 - He has very little wear and tear. Barely played last year and was a short yardage back in ATL. - Difficult to tackle - Has not been injury prone - WILL COME CHEAP Why this team is bringing in injury prone softies like Chris Brown and old, past-their-prime veterans like Corey Dillon is beyond me. He'd be a great short yardage compliment back and will help alleviate all the goal line problems the team has had the past few years.

3rd and 7th rounder in 2007. 3rd rounder in 2008.

To move up for Peterson or to secure Lynch will cost alot.

Ever heard of Rob Johnson? Nevermind... -
Chris Brown likely to sign with Buffalo today

Let's see what the contract numbers are, but I wouldn't exactly characterize it as good news when you sign a running back who has shown a history of injuries at that young an age. My guess: 4 years $10M. -
I'm expecting the Browns to take Quinn with the #3 pick.
Dawgg replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's going to Detroit IMO. 1. Russell OAK 2. Quinn DET -
LOL, you really are a Bills Junkie aren't you? Moss hasn't even hit 30 yet. He has been stuck on the Raiders with one of the worst offenses and coaching staffs in recent memory. Couple that with piss poor QB play.... put him on the Pats and he will tear it up. Especially when he lines up across Terrance McGee.
-
When Terrance McGee is your top corner, Moss doesn't scare you? This is hilarious!
-
Yes, but according to this board, Brady is horrible at throwing the deep ball, so who cares???

This is about next year's football season for the Buffalo Bills. Not life.. am I pessimistic about the defense? You bet.
-
Indeed. Let me also flip it for you. : 4th Quarter, on the road, Bills are down by 4. They need a critical stop with 3 minutes left. Who makes the play? The run defense is porous. Secondary is very young...
