I do think he was an undesirable starter. But what evidence do you have that he was the worst starting safety of all 32 teams? I mean, I'm not denying that, but that is a pretty strong statement, so I wondered if you looked at all the starters for the other teams and compared them somehow.
And shifty. And the difference about his shiftiness is he did it at full speed while moving down the field, like changing directions didn't slow him down at all. I'm always amazed when watching his highlights.
In 2024 Josh Allen's cap hit was $30.4 million. They restructured him last year and pushed money into later years like they usually do, but not quite the full amount they could have, if I remember correctly.
The narrative that Josh Allen is doing everything by himself and has no help has always been false. For one thing, the Bills have built a very good oline in front of him. They've made trades for big name receivers (Diggs and Cooper), they've been more balanced on offense and gotten good running production. The narrative is just false and always has been.
Edit: All the normal contrarians reacting negatively, I see 😆
That is not slow for cornerbacks. Hamlin isn't slow. Rapp plays faster than his 40 time suggests, I think. His slow 40 time was a surprise.
Look, we don't have a bunch of burners, but they are not slow as a group. It just isn't the case. Go around the league and look at 40 times for corners and safeties and you'll see that ours are perfectly average.
We really don't. Christian Benford has good speed. He has an 8.14 RAS. Good size and athleticism. Cole Bishop is very athletic and fast. He has an RAS of 9.82. Even Damar Hamlin was a decent athlete with an RAS of 7. He wasn't slow or unathletic like some claim. Evan Cam Lewis is fast. He ran a 4.44 40 time. He is plenty athletic.
Taylor Rapp is probably a little slow, I'll give you that. Elam was very explosive, but he is gone now and he sucked anyway.
So, there isn't any truth to the Bills secondary being slow or unathletic. That is just a myth.
Yeah, the longer time goes by, the harder and harder it is to provide evidence. But, justice is better served late than never. If he did it, he deserves to be punished for it. But they need to prove it. Innocent until proven guilty.
I don't think QBs like that exist anymore because that isn't how the college game is played and NFL teams don't wait for guys to develop in that way, so to succeed you have to have some athleticism and rare physical attributes today.
I actually think a lot of those elite pocket passers would carve the league up, though, like Brees and Manning. That was the height of the QB position. QBs aren't mentally at that level anymore, in my opinion.
