The Deep State War Heats Up
BeginnersMind replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Her goose, I believe, is cooked on this. The EU has no interest in giving more and the UK wants more... someone will blink but without the backbone to enforce their own deadlines, the EU is in the driver's seat. Nothing happens in Europe in the summer so this won't be on the table again for real until the fall. Yeah. Everything. There's hardly a news story that isn't linked in this thread. But you're right to call me on the Crowell thing. Pats news is definitely Deep State material. -

For not believing in the Deep State blood cult theories...I'll go ahead and take your diagnosis as a compliment. May is finished. She overplayed her hand on the March deadline. But they still can't figure out how to exit on terms they like. -

Only a blood cultist would use the term Black Magic. -
Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
BeginnersMind replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That’s known. And I’m sure he was a drug user in his punk band days. I’m more curious about what else is out there. I fully expect people to link his father in law to Pizzagate and the like, but I’ll be more interested in real stuff. -
Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
BeginnersMind replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Beto will have to survive the skeleton digging phase but assuming he clears that with normal wear and tear, he’s going to do well in the primary and be one of the few Dems (like Biden) that could win the general election. Most of the Ds have no shot in the general election. -
Vaccines and Trump: Your stance?

The way I read that, and forgive me if this is your point, she’s saying that they have little evidence at that point (paucity) and don’t believe he will win, so based on those two things, they are not burning sources and using all tools to go after him. The “politics” is in the text where her human (not conspiratorial coup!) bias is that she compares a deeper investigation in the future with an insurance policy. That’s her personal politics and has been on display in her many loverboy texts. But no government worker is an automaton without biases against “the man,” whoever the man may be in any given election or appointment cycle. There was undisputed evidence that Russia was working to divide the electorate and Trump was the large beneficiary. Even Trump admits to Russian tampering (some days). They investigated. Good. No collusion with Trump (we assume). Very, very good. The rest is so much made up horsehockey by both sides.

Lombardi tweets Barr might not be the only flip

There are a few other things happening these days too at the more competitive schools. First, and this is not necessarily the worst thing, colleges are obsessed with admitting "first generation" college students. WaPo has a recent story that notes these kids don't do as well despite all the extra help they get once they arrive, but that is making admissions tighter. And as far as I can tell going through the early stages of the college process with a junior now, all you have to do is check boxes to assert that you're G1 student (that being said, these days it's pretty easy to debunk unless your parents are totally under the radar). Second, and this is huge these days, international applicants to elite schools, in particular, are way up. Harvard is 20% international students. Many schools are the same. The international pool takes up a lot of spaces that it didn't used to, and those students are attractive because they pay 100% full tuition. No scholarships. Just cash in. So they are uncomplicated sources of money (and good students but not always the best). Third, there are some other cute ways to game the system on tests. Setting aside the pure cheaters that got busted, we have been asked multiple times if our daughter (a straight A student who scores in the top % on standardized tests) would need special accommodations for test-taking, ie, extra time or anything else. This seems to be shockingly easy to secure and a surprising number of her friends, who are all totally fine, take advantage of it. Most of Operation Varsity Blues came from one organization. Can you even imagine how many others are out there, and how many other times there was just some direct payment or small-time cheat that happened. It's not surprising at all...but given how much some of these dopes were spending, it's totally insane. Skip USC, give your kid 500K, and send them to Canisius.

Exactly. He was probably a 1000 yard WR. -

Tom, who doesn’t read your posts except when quoted, was talking about the plane crash. The chicken dinner is yours, winner. -
Florida Human Trafficking
BeginnersMind replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Admittedly cherry picking one for simplicity, do you think yesterday’s crash is worthy of consideration as an act of the nefarious Deep State? Or maybe, just saying, it could be brought up in the Deep State thread when there is any proof of a bad act by a member of whatever the Deep State is. -

BeginnersMind replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Here at PPP, yes. I will try a final time. I see pages of threads dedicated to fuzzy photos of women in the street, missiles blowing up SpaceX rockets, a link to yesterday's crash as "possibly" Deep State, pages dedicated to the number 17 and Q, and on and on and on. But of course, because it goes against the "Trump is the Savior" narrative, the human trafficker selling access to Trump to Chinese government operatives...gets no traction. It's as much of a non-story as the others but the PPP conspiracists are so into their own narrative that they can't see how blind they are. If there's been much doubt that I am against the conspiracy-ing of this once-politics board, I'd be surprised. -
Florida Human Trafficking

I'll quote it for you: "The gang here can go 12 posts on a hazy image of a woman on a street in Brussels ("look at her purse!"), and 6 pages on the cover-up of RBG's "death," but this won't get any attention. Not that I think it's attention-worthy yet myself." See how positive I was? Try again. -

Four of Six on the case. I responded to a post in this thread because it was about trafficking. But thanks for quoting me. It’s how I get paid by the Deep State.
