The current left left and right debate here shows this. Two slivers of the population have many convinced that we are more divided and in some civil war with the future of civilization at stake. Such exciting narcissism!

No. This is it. That a tiny minority of admissions spots go to children of alum who made the entire school a better place through their donations is not the problem. This service, and the many others not busted, the many bribes not outed, and the many SATs cheated on...is an actual problem. My daughter will go through the admissions process this fall. I don't know if this observations speaks to all Muslim communities, as he implies. I've seen what he describes in many places. The exhausted majority of voters and non-voters in the US relates to this, for example. The extremes always make all the noise, get coverage, and grab moral high ground. So it has been. So it will be.

I welcome his critique. You all have more tolerance for a child molester who makes jokes about having sex with underage kids and a racist who celebrates violence against the people he hates than you do for a guy whose sole purpose in criticisizing is to help make this place better. You can filter your own friend groups. And you can always seek out the dark side elsewhere. It’s not like it’s been cut off from you. 8chan and Git are right there any time you want to see $&@#heads. PPP has been lightly moderated because it was once better. Maybe there’s a limit. Maybe some people found it.

I’d say, to someone’s point earlier, a place would be right here at PPP. And in news comments. The anonymous dehumanizing interaction that forums like this encourage is no small part of the problem when a lonely angry person goes off.
