  1. With the exception of the world cup or certain tournament matches, it's a huge plus. Australia-Norway match was great. Kerr came up very small though. I was looking forward to seeing her play. Shoot-outs suck but the better team advanced today.
  2. The big American sports would barely exist without them. Without that ad revenue, no massive TV deals. Without massive TV deals, no advertising, salaries, hype shows, stadiums. If the NFL proposed going commercial free for TV in 2020, the league would implode in an instant.
  3. Just spreading negativity for the sake of making the world worse? I don't like NASCAR, golf, and many other things, but I don't care that others do. Good for them! Go do something you enjoy and have a great day. We will all be dead in 2 breaths.
  4. Its part of the game for some people, mostly depending on the league or country of origin. It’s not the norm but it happens. The uncertainty of extra time is one of the best parts of the game. If you don’t think so, you’re probably not a soccer fan. Most fans love that part of the game.
  5. No commercials is why it doesn’t work here too. If Bud can’t show its frogs, good luck getting ad revenue. Americans want to be told what to eat, drink, and drive.
  6. BillsChan is the preferred name for PPP these days.
  7. No one has tested them yet. There was a fair amount of grumbling going in that they had not looked as sharp and other teams were rising. So far the opposite looks true. And at every match, they are the draw of the tournament as far as fans go. It’s a funny higher pitch rise of excitement on any breakout—sounds like a Beatles concert. Funny. Hopefully France, post Spain, can give them a game. I don’t see Spain giving them trouble.
  8. The breaking news on this video will come next week. But the the one thing that video does prove is that you can Tweet while high.
  9. On to Spain. US by far the class of the tourney so far. No one close. Morgan’s possible injury worth watching.
  10. Goal differential was almost a certainty to not come into play vs Sweden after the US won 13-0, and by the time the US game against Chile started, Sweden had beat Thailand 5-1, so the goal differential issue was over. The US Women out-earn or nearly earn the same as the men. They make coin. The rest of the women's teams don't but in the US, they are gold. (And the US Men suck donkey dick.) https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-womens-soccer-games-out-earned-mens-games-11560765600?mod=hp_listb_pos1
  11. It’s nice to see you guys are still playing the oldies.
  12. Besting Sweden lines them up to play France. That’s not ideal but who cares. Got to beat the best to be the best.
  13. Goal differential is over. That’s why they did what they did. This team is going to the next round. No need to burn everyone out in a game they are going to win. Next game is more real, though the winner will play France, which is a tough reward for the victor.
  14. The team celebrates him round at the stadium. Here’s hoping all the attention he’s about to get takes him off the wall finally. He ran ran a lot of yards a long time ago. No need to electively pay him tribute. The records will still be there but strip him of the praise for it.
  15. Stephen A Smith has opinions too. Gets his face on page 1 of ESPN every day. Good luck with your strategy of saying “stuff” Thaddeus.
  16. So they won’t draft a guy if he doesn’t pick up because one time (vaguely) before cell phones, an unnamed team drafted an unnamed dead guy? Quoting Twitter opinions is bad enough. This guy seems like The Onion of sportswriters.
  17. two guys rubbing mustaches criticism of [religion of choice] gun purchase requirements anti pollution legislation the other side’s media The kid on the lawn
  18. Why does this matter? Does this Twitter-dingdong not understand that a team can pick without calling the player? Getting through on the call to the player is irrelevant.
  19. Glad the outrage machine is tired of Megan Rapinoe and is churning out copies of this video. What's next?
  20. On Tuesday he was on his way to Canton so he’s behind on the 2:1 ratio. Panic!
  21. 11starts into his career at OTAs with 3 of his top WRs out after one great and one bad practice seems like the right time to panic. Live in the moment brother.
  22. It is. But there’s wanting to beat the best and there’s wanting to beat the bad sports. The later is an amplifier. See Patriots, New England and Gronkowski, Rob.
  23. They are celebrating US soccer on behalf of the men's team, which may not score a goal for the next 8 months. Yes, I found the celebrations excessive. Thankfully the Thai players didn't retaliate. I did not find the scoring excessive. Passing the ball around the defense for 45 minutes of keep away is more insulting than scoring, and if you watched, they could have scored 20 goals in the second half if they just lobbed balls into the box. Thailand couldn't keep possession for more than 2 passes. It was target practice and the US women were only going for goal when they had an easy path. But by dropping 13, they now have an even bigger target on them. I have no doubt that the outrage machine will be in high gear tomorrow. Stephen A. Smith will have a rant that ESPN.com will be pushing all day.
