NFL Week #14 - Jets at Bills - Post game thread
TFBillsfan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Perspective: A win is a win, 10-3, still #1 seed with 4 regular season games to go. NYJ have a strong D and are trending in the right direction. They have to feel good even losing. However, our team and coaching staff continue to make too many mistakes. Happy with the win but not happy with how they won. OFFENSIVE: Weather was atrocious but Dorsey thought long developing pass plays was the way to go which had me shaking my head. Almost totally abandoned any semblance of a running game. McKenzie, Knox, Devin with some critical drops. Would love to see the Bills draft Josh Downs, slot WR from NC. Diggs and Davis needed to be more involved and it’s inexcusable they weren’t. Josh continued to not take the easy positive yardage plays especially in the 1st half. OL struggled mightily in the first half. Dawkins had a wicked block at the goal line for a TD. They only converted on TWO 3rd downs. Another bad coaching challenge by McDermott. How hard is this? I keep waiting for some creativity by Dorsey but don’t think it’s coming. GREAT GAME BY T BASS! DEFENSE: Only gave up 10 points. Groot made impactful plays. BIG hits by Ed, Milano and others on White. Almost 50% success rate on 3rd down by NYJ. That’s unacceptable and has been a trend in the wrong direction. Solid game by the DL and LB’s. However they were much better when they attacked. When they didn’t results weren’t good. Continuing the negative trend of bad tackling. Secondary gave up way too many easy passes. AGAIN yes this team is winning but the lack of execution, game planning, poor tackling and giving up 3rd down conversions are very worrisome. Can’t recall if this team has played even close to a complete game yet. Everything seems way too hard right now. I’m sure some may say it’s far too negative but if this team is going to reach its goal, they’ve got to get better. LETS GO BUFFALO! Now let’s take care of MIA! -
Four out of the last five games the Bills play are playoff teams or one game out of the playoffs. If the Bills get the #1 seed, they will have EARNED it. LETS GO BUFFALO!

Seattle, Detroit and Philly are in great shape assuming they hit on their picks. Obviously free agency impacts draft needs but OG, Safety and an impactful WR are the most likely needs for us.

Bills should be super close to healthy outside of Von. Now is the time to stack wins and play to their potential. IMO, they’ll need to win all five to secure the #1 seed. Cinncy is most likely winning the AFCN now so the head to head against them will be big as well. First things first, take care of the Jets and Dolphins. Both vivid reminders if you don’t execute and protect the ball, you’ll get beat. Jets continue to gain confidence and MIA certainly has weapons.

Chiefs at Bengals Game thread - 4:25 PM Kickoff
TFBillsfan replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great to finally get some help from other teams this weekend. Bengals and Dolphins have a really impressive WR core with multiple playmakers. Hopefully the Bills can capitalize on controlling their own destiny with the #1 seed. -
Ed Oliver named AFC defensive player of the week
TFBillsfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Congratulations and well deserved. Hopefully this is the start of many impactful plays from him down the stretch. -
Panic? It was a simple question comparing what a key opponent is doing and hearing from other Bills fans their thoughts.

Von hopes to be back vs the Jets, source seems legit
TFBillsfan replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would be two extra weeks IF he were available for the Jets but didnt play until Cinncy. He would miss NE, Jets, MIA and Chicago. That would be five weeks from the Detroit game. -

My point is even IF he were able to go and cleared why not let him get even better for the stretch run. -

At this point, I don’t bring Von back until the Cinncy game. Let him get as healthy as possible. If we cant beat the Jets at home and the Bears, we have much bigger issues.- 61 replies

Looking ahead to the stretch run this week alone, KC has added Melvin Gordon RB, Bryan Edwards WR and now Brandon Williams DT to their PS. At the trade deadline they added Kadarius Toney WR who just injured his hamstring. We traded for Hines who is barely visible on offense and just signed John Brown to the PS. Any concerns that Beane isn’t being more aggressive or do you feel the KC signings will have no impact? Right or wrong KC seems to be going all in to stack their roster.

Ugly game. Would have loved if George Pickens would have been available when we picked in the 2nd round.

Hopefully McDermott, Frazier and McDermott create an effective game plan vs NE. Bills need to improve in the RZ, don’t gift NE any turnovers and tackle well. This is a huge game for the Bills if we want to win the division. Worried Dawkins is going to be out. NE has Mac throwing quickly which will mitigate any pass rush. The D has to bow up this week. If they can get out of NE with a win the 10 days before their next game will be very beneficial for their overall health. Would be nice for the Bills to leave no doubt early against NE and bury them.

Dolphins @ Bills - When do we find out if moved to Sat?
TFBillsfan replied to gmanbfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
With our current health, I hope our remaining schedule doesn’t change. I’m good after the NE Thursday game playing the rest of the regular season on Sunday. -
Everything with NE is mostly quick passes which is gonna minimize any Bills pass rush. Will need to tackle well and our LB and secondary are gonna need to make plays. Bill’s also can’t make stupid mistakes against NE.
-
And in reality if he would have just focused on breaking up the pass instead of going for an interception on 4th down, it would have never occurred. Rewatching it really punctuates a very bad defensive play based upon the situation. I somewhat disagree. It’s not like those teams played great against the Bills. It was more the Bills continuing to make self inflicted mistakes and turnovers. Everyone of those games if the Bills executed basic football fundamentals, they would have easily won all of those games.

Is it too optimistic to believe Morse, Dawkins, Groot, AJ and Edmunds will all be back vs NE? Obviously Von will be out and Tre’s workload should increase. Not sure how bad Dawkins ankle is but hopefully minor. If not would hope everyone is ready to go against the Jets with the extra time off after playing next Thursday. Cautiously optimistic we can be close to full strength down the stretch! LETS GO BUFFALO!

It’s probably accurate to state both coordinators need to be better. I give a Dorsey a slight pass as it’s his first year. Frazier is a former HC and experienced DC. The lack of pressure or calls to generate pressure is ridiculous. He continues to let mid tier QB’s pass on them with ease. Yes they’ve had injuries but consistently letting teams go on long score drives and converting on 3rd a long is troubling. The 4th qtr D has been atrocious lately. Something has to change.
-
They are a good offense when you’re tackling stinks, give Goff plenty of time, give the receivers plenty of cushion and allow them to continue converting 3rd and longs. It’s been a reoccurring trend by the D for most of the season.
-
You realize we play MIA again so that scenario isn’t valid.
-
In addition to the secondary, rarely does the DL beat their man one on one outside of Von. Watching other teams it seems to happen more frequently For example, I counted 3 times today that Bates totally whiffed on his man. For all the money and draft capital that went into the front four they have to start making a bigger impact. Especially with a depleted secondary.

McKenzie looked liked he was struggling to understand the play calls today.
