Here's the deal with this article. Woody may indeed be a terrible owner, but this hit piece is the exact reason Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh should never be in a position of leadership in the NFL again. The article is clearly an attempt by their people to pass the buck onto ownership for their own failures. For example: “They keep on doing the same thing over and over: they change the football people. The football people are not the issue,” one former executive said. “It’s, ‘Hey, I have brain cancer.’ And, ‘Well, just cut off your foot.'”- Calling BS on this one. Joe Douglas drafted Zach Wilson not Woody Johnson. Joe Douglas traded for an about to be 40-year-old Quarterback, not Woody Johnson. The Jets had 8 different top 15 picks in the draft from 2019-2024. Somehow instead of turning any of those picks into a serviceable Quarterback Douglas collected edge rushers, cornerbacks, and wide receivers with no one to pass them the ball. It's clearly a football people thing. On the Jerry Jeudy thing. Yes, its stupid but Jerry Jeudy is the hill Douglas wants to die on? Was Jerry Jeudy going to somehow make the Jets a Super Bowl Contender? It's fairly clear the Jets hired two guys in Douglas and Saleh who lack an appetite for personal responsibility. Rather than take a look in the mirror for how the organization was run under their leadership they decided to cover their butts by blaming the guy who paid them millions of dollars to be failures.

Gonna go out on a limb and say he just may not be that good. He has some name recognition from being a former 2nd round pick but even in his best year he had 77 receptions, 851 yards and 3 touchdowns. He's going on 29 years old and has never eclipsed 1000 yards in a season, and rarely been over 11 yards a reception. I think the Bills probably thought they could get more out of him playing with a great quarterback. The likelihood is they overpaid for potential and will have to live with it through next season.

Lets not act like Jim Kelly was a puny 1930's quarterback smoking cigarettes at halftime. He was a 6'2 230 pound guy who could have played linebacker in the league. Players dont get to choose what era they play in. That argument should not diminish their greatness.
