What Bengals & Chiefs fans are saying about the situation:
thenorthremembers replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fair enough. I agree it was definitely emotionally driven hyperbole. I am usually better at not doing that. Goes back to said cousin, he is a real piece of work. My bad there. -
Ryan Clark had a really great quote on Monday night after the injury in regards to football players regretting playing football after a major injury and he said, and I am paraphrasing "No, because before we were ever pros, before we ever made millions doing it, our first love was having a football in our hands." It really struck a nerve with me. Since I was 5 years old football has been my passion. I've been blessed with a beautiful life, great wife, amazing kids but before all of those things came into my life, some of the greatest joys I've known is playing or coaching football. I know that seems so trite, but its true, to this day even when I am just playing catch, football brings me such great joy. From word go having a football in my hands just felt natural, it was the thing that cleared my head, and even in chaotic situations on the field brought me some odd solace. My oldest son is the same way. Playing football and basketball is his spark. I dont know how I could take that away from him even knowing the risks. My younger son could care less about football, but his passion is skateboarding. It was innate, the first time I saw him at a skate park, even just with a scooter at 5 years old, it was like I was seeing him in his element for the first time. Should I tell him to stop because people have gotten hurt really bad skating? I dont think I could. We all have a choice, we can try avoid risks, try and live a long life even though its completely out of our hands or do what we love knowing that it could end our lives prematurely. Either way we will suffer, its inevitable in life. I want everyone in my family to live very long lives but I also want them to enjoy it because its the only one they get.

My son is the third generation of my family to play football. I've played or coached for the last 35 years. Neither my son or I have been injured playing football. My father required shoulder surgery after a high school football game when he was growing up. I did however take a comebacker to the face pitching in high school breaking both my orbital bone and giving me a concussion. Very lucky it wasn't worse. My immediate reaction to Damar's injury is that neither of my boys will play football again. After letting the initial emotion subside, and thinking about what I wrote above. I realize freak accidents happen im every sport and in every day life. His exact injury happens in baseball, lacrosse, and hockey. People die in car accidents daily. Should I never drive my car again? Its likely my kids will get hurt whether its in football or not, but I can't live in fear of that.

What Bengals & Chiefs fans are saying about the situation:
thenorthremembers replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wouldn't have expected anything less from Chief's fans. I have a cousin who is a huge KC fan and he couldn't represent their fan base any better...arrogant, loudmouth. I love that they use the Belcher situation as an example but completely ignore the fact that maybe the NFL was wrong then. Maybe the Chiefs shouldn't have played that game. I have nothing but respect for Mahomes as a player, and Reid as a coach (not including as a Father for obvious reasons) but their fanbase is complete trash. -
Yes, they were playing dirty. They were jacked up beyond belief. The Hurst thing I was a little less concerned about because it was in the act of a football play. The Hendrickson thing was complete garbage and should have been a penalty and a fine. He even gives Josh a kick towards the end of his gymnastics routine. They showed out as good stewards of the game after the Hamlin injury but the week leading up to the game and the way they came out punching shows me that they carry themselves with some serious arrogance.

The Phins; from 8-3 to 8-8. An epic collapse
thenorthremembers replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
Starting all these posts when one of the AFC East teams still likely makes the playoffs is kind of silly. I take just as much enjoyment in those teams losing as the next guy, but at least wait until the collapse is complete. Bills still have some work to do themselves. -
I think most national people just expected the greatest show on turf after week 1 and 2. They also expected Josh to take another step and be the front runner for MVP. Still think he is the most valuable player to his team in the NFL but he has also regressed to his mean throughout the season. Its less sexy than destroying everyone they play. Its the ebb and flow of the season. The Bengals are the hot story right now. I think with consistent winning you just see less fanfare. Still feel like the Bills and Chiefs are the favorites in the AFC but the writers and TV people have to put out new stories.

Those were my exact thoughts last week. It was surprising to me how many times on the same drive he was willing to let it go into really bad situations. Multiple times last week the ball was tipped up into the air for anyone to catch, the Pats just couldnt get there . I think Joe has all the swag in the world, but part of me wonders how he will do when they dont have as much talent at wideout.

Watched a fair amount of the Bengals/Patriots game last week, other than the Patriots completely melting down, one thing stood out to me, Burrow's arm strength doesnt match his confidence. He is a very accurate kid, but man did he throw a lot of passes that should have been picked. Josh is up there as well dont get me wrong, but I'd like to see the stat for % of interceptable passes that someone like PFF or Football Outsiders would have.

Some of the jerseys were cool. The song in the background was an absolute assault on my eardrums.

The only thing anyone involved outside of the player cares about is whether they have evidence in a court of law that they followed established protocols.

Pretty arrogant of him to write about it in multiple books. -
Carr Benched. Stidham Starting Rest of Season
thenorthremembers replied to wjag's topic in The Stadium Wall
Saints, Titans, and Commanders are all teams that have connections with Carr. Titans would be a really good fit just wonder what they want to do with Willis. -

If anyone ever believed it was more about winning than it was money then I have a bridge to sell them.

Russell Wilson and His Divisive Entourage
thenorthremembers replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree here. I think he was a talented player but since he married Ciara he seems very concerned about image and celebrity. How many other active players sit with Goodell in his suite during the Super Bowl? -
I said it in another thread but limiting penalties is usually based solely on the crew the Bills pull on a given week. Things like offensive holding, and roughing the passer and based almost solely on the individual refs interpretation of a rule. Cheffers was awful last week with the holding calls. Some crews let these guys play and others like Boger, Vinovich, Blakeman and Hussey want to be tv stars.

Week 17: Bills at Bengals on MNF
thenorthremembers replied to Beck Water's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree on the 1st point. I think the second point depends on what ref crew the Bills pull this week. Each group of refs call holding completely different and Cheffers and his crew are one of the worst. For me if I see Cheffers, Hussey, Vinovich, Blakeman or Boger I know it could be a long day. -
Denver isnt as bad off as people say. If they cant bring in Sean Payton, they should be first in line to bring in Eric Bienemy. They can restructure contracts and walk into free agency with over 71 million dollars. They also have Miami's first round pick. I have to believe Wilson's season has a lot to do with Hackett. If not, find a suitable back up, and hope having a better coach helps.
