  1. so hard to tell right now. I feel like this team is going to just make many changes going into this year.
  2. 2 things I think will happen. 1. I think we shift to picking up a good RT. 2. I think in the draft we hope this guy drops and If not we go best ILB or best WR available.
  3. similar? yep! but no where near as proven
  4. oh I would not be horribly mad about this pick at all... not saying that. just not my first choice
  5. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2023/story/_/id/35931704/2023-nfl-mock-draft-mike-tannenbaum-gm-first-round-picks-five-quarterbacks Jahmyr Gibbs RB, Alabama >>>>> Sigh I just want to say the Buzz around Gibbs is getting real. While we are struggling to get a true #2 WR, some are feeling the next move for Beane is to get a true 3 down RB on this team. With an aging Diggs and still not around him, it makes sense to flip to a stronger running game with a back that has more raw talent then what we have. I am no where near 100% behind this BUT.. If holds true that the run SHOULD open up for better passing then what are the other options? Lets just assume we are done looking for a true #2 WR for the sake of argument and figure out how we can make this team into more of a running machine where we run 40% and pass 60% ++. Well lets look deeper into what we need to pull this switch off. Just for giggles, yes? 1. Short up the left side of the line. Check. 2. A solid TE. Check. 3. A RT to compete better? Hmm? 4. a PROVEN high end trusted RB out of the draft? This does not seem so hard does it? Why McD would want to make such quick changes? That is easy... He is now calling the shots on defense, and we have a OC 1 year on that McD feels he trusts that is likely saying... "If you cant get me a true #2 WR on this team then we need to change!!!" Also, it has been well documented on these boards that Beane has been chasing a RB for years that can fit this type of bill. Though I do not necessarily like this direction, at this point it may be the easier direction to go in. For how long have we said everything we do is JA and nothing else? This will get instant eyerolls, pukes and disagreements but I get it.. How many times on these boards have said... we need our Thurman Thomas? EDITED Another source also has us going RB https://walterfootball.com/draft2023charlie_1.php?rbBot
  6. I thought I already did. Quickness. Reaction times to plays. Reading plays. Explosive Tackling. all better than Bernard in my opinion. Bernard for example horribly miss judges crossing routs... this dude? no.. lol
  7. though in part I agree with your statement.. Schemes can be great or horrible if run right/wrong. I can tell you that year one, several times McD took over and the D looked on target. Time for the HC to take responsibility somewhere
  8. more then mine.. but yea 40 time and size ? yep same person. Reaction time... quickness.. viciousness? coverage? Different beast. IF you think the speed and size tangibles are the only thing that matter then Idk what to say man. I never said i even necessary wanted this guy. I was just putting a scout report on a guy of position of need and fits around where we pick.
  9. every scout report, profile has him round 2-3. i really don't know where your getting this info
  10. I agree with this statement for the most part SPOT ON.
  11. so More Polished I agree. Bigger? Faster? Wrong on bigger. 1 inch taller but my man has the longer arms. He may be faster but not quicker. not close
  12. Un. Nevada I agree. this is a guy you want to bring in to compete. he is not a plug n play ILB round 1 early 2.
  13. This is so far from the truth. but you have the right to your opinion.
  14. At the College Level Toughness and speed are words used when talking about Henley. Last Season he had 106 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, broken up pass and an INT. Considered a 3 down starter and runs a 4.54(second best among the top 5 ILBS in draft) at the senior bowl he shined in coverage using his 33" arms(tops among the top 5). We are talking about a football smart ILB that many feel his head is on a swivel while out there. Size 6'1 225LBS 33" Arms Pro's Explosive first step Not just fast but quick too Athletic Has a good eye in coverage Athletic High upside Explosive Finisher (Flawless victory, Fatality ) no, but seriously, this is where I thought we lacked with Edmunds. Con's He is not a traditional ILB (loves coverage style defenses more than blitzing) He needs to learn the art of being a stack ILB Raw Needs work with hitting the right gap (Don't panic and think of Edmunds same issue here... this is very common for a young ILB) Footwork Does not read QB's eyes well (this is a good and bad thing) It means he does not jump on plays as much, but it also means he does not bite as much either. I think this one could fall right into our lap. 2-3 round projections.. as far as I am concerned? winner winner, chicken dinner
  15. couple other holes to solve first. Like ILB
  16. lol Athletic mocks again have a horrible history of putting players in positions for clicks.. that being said.. again.. good job.
  17. Richardson is way to low for a top listing but I could see him go that high. Johnston way to low as well. buuuut... All in All Well Done.
  18. I don't know if I would call #1 an unpopular opinion with hindsight.
  19. This is a whole lot of silliness here. Do the Fans overreact more to the bad then the good? Absolutely. BUT! The Criticism of Davis has been more then fair.. There is a reason why they tried bringing 2 old bears back at the end of the season. He was not producing.
  20. You know... It could happen but it would have to be some sort of Miricale with our cap situation... 3 1/2 months later.... Oh Damn this could happen! I want your crystal ball man.
  21. this is awesome lol
  22. 1. Mc.D likes to sit some of the positions for a year, Like WR and DE. These are players that can develop on the bench without hurting a "SB" ready team. 2. One thing Mc.D does not take kindly to is drops and fumbles. Shakir had 2 drops early in the season and Cook had the dropsies too. He does not tolerate it and I respect Mc.D for that. 3. I seriously think this GM/HC combo has a different philosophy outside their first draft. They try hard to plug holes so they are more wide open to the talent as much as position needed so yea.. 4. I don't think I would categorize our last 2-3 drafts as great... yet.. Does McD need to have more trust and faith in his rookies? Absolutely.. But that being said, if he feels the same rookies will hurt this team more than help.. Then they sit the bench. I would argue Davis should have seen the bench more while he was struggling and while Shakir was excelling he should of had more playing time. As far as the CB situation? that was tough.. No White do to injuries early on so he had to 1. decipher which CB was the better of the 2 and then decide if they wanted a vet. In short? I trust the process but the process needs to speed the heck up a bit.
