I'm in the 8.3% of people (so far) who said bad move.  We'll see - hopefully I'm wrong.  For the record, I'm only considering this season/this year's team.  It's possible that Peterman is the worst QB since Jeff Tuel and we lose out, but that leads to some franchise savior QB in the draft or whatever.  But I choose to hold McDermott accountable to his stated rationale, which is to improve the team now, and I don't think it will.  Again, I'll be happy if I'm wrong on this one.

Tyrod's play against the Saints was indefensible, and I won't try to defend it.  He was terrible.  However, I thought he was one of the very few Bills who actually played well against the Jets, and I don't really understand why 2 straight total team collapses seem to be 100% the fault of the QB?  Is Peterman going to fix the lack of a pass rush, the inability to stop the run, or the inability of the O-line to run block?  Could any QB fix those?

Jerry Hughes, Shaq Lawson, Kyle Williams, and Adolphus Washington have been invisible for weeks.  If McDermott thinks this team is so much better than 5 wins, where's the accountability for them?

there is so much common sense in this post I don't even know how to handle it.

    JM,

Your still clinging to the inevitable that many told you would be the reality from BBMB days to here. Those who say getting to a WC is all that is important are short sightedand have no vision.

Fortunately, this coaching has vision and not the bone headed win now mentality that just inevitably gets them canned.

Tyrod Taylor flat out is not a franchise QB for the Buffalo Bills. I could see it in all honesty after his first 8-10 games in 2015.

I know it may be hard for some to comprehend but doing what it takes to sneak into the WC this year doesn't mean that the team would inevitably suffer long term.

    Haha, fair enough man.

IMO they won in spite of him not because of. IMO a QB playing as Trenative as Tyrod would have also got the same amount of wins this season he has because the rest of the team carried him.

We agree to disagree, one thing for sure we both want the Bills to win. It's a fresh start go Bills get excited man

taylor had really solid games and really nice throws during our start. hands down. I have no clue what you were watching.  you say the team won in spite of him becuz your mind was already made up. that's been obvious.

i'm always excited to see a new young player for the bills. i'll be sitting there rooting for him and my heart rate will be jacked up like it is every other game. but I don't believe for one second that the move gives them a better shot at winning now.

It’s TV manufacturing a story.  They are using comments by TT from a month ago when he stated African American QBs are held to a different standard in general.  It’s literally fake news, it was NOT said in regards to his benching.  One of the most irresponsible stories I have ever seen.

it was really bad. i'm watching it here in my office going "are they REALLY putting that headline on the tv?" just bad.

Your calling me the worse man, why because I posted my opinion and it's not throwing rose peddles at Tyrods feet?

I understand you do not like I give Tyrod little credit but IMO he is a big part of the problem, in fact the biggest considering he is in the driver in this QB driven league IMO.

he's won more than he's lost. and I claimed you're the worst becuz you do things like use horribly small sample sizes, like just one game, for the foundation of your argument and then say anyone that wants to see taylor keep starting must like 50 yd days. as if that's how he's played all year...... that's really foolish and just.... the worst.

You’re not listening to what they’re doing. They are trying to win now. They are also trying to build for the future. If Peterman works out, win now. If he doesn’t, build for the future. They are being extremely methodical about this. That’s the process. Do you really want to be the Dolphins of 2016, sneak into the playoffs in a fluke year and go nowhere? I would be happy the drought was over but I’m glad we have a coach and GM that are levelheaded enough to push for more than that.

no. i'd like to sneak in and still have the ammo to go get the future. which is a realistic scenario with taylor. does anyone really think the rookie is gonna get it done. i'm blown away at the hype on this board. I think it speaks volumes. history says its not gonna work. hopefully i'm wrong and we found a gem.

Tell yourself that the Bills used one of their third round picks.....hell, make it a second rounder....to pick Peterman.

      Now you feel much better!

but they didn't..... becuz he could be had in the 5th. and I still wouldn't feel very good about a rookie 2nd or 3rd rounder midseason btw

They are trying to win now while also building for the future. They’ve said it again and again and every decision they’ve made makes sense in that context. If the 5th round rookie isn’t running the offense better, oh well, they get to take their franchise QB next spring. If that guy sucks then they’re on the hot seat in a couple years. It’s as simple as that.

They might genuinely believe Peterman’s traits give this offense a better chance moving forward. Let’s see what happens.

how is that caring about the now? that's literally the opposite. thanks for the confirmation.

It's a fresh start, I expect growing pains of a new rookie, I also expect McD will be looking hard at our OC and evaluate him at seasons end the same with Peterman.

To move on from the last staffs QB and drafting QBs to try to find a franchise worthy QB is what I was pointing to as trying to get better at the position, I love McD now for the move.

As for the hype I think fans are just sick of the Tyrod excuses and watching him play Trenative protecting his stat line not worrying about pushing for the win something Peterman pointed out he won't be doing, Peterman is all about the win and will fight to get the win. I don't understand how you could not be excited for the kid unless you would rather have Tyrods 50 yard days.

Tyrod is known here for a protector of the ball but is punt after punt  turnovers?

lololol. dude you are honestly the worst..... again. becuz tyrod does that every week right? becuz he didn't have a real nice start to his season as whole when they were 5-2...

you're just the worst sort of guy around here. I've said numerous times i'm ready to move on from tyrod. ready to draft the next in line. but i'm not ready to put the playoff push in the hands of a rookie 5th rounder when the starter had shown more good than he had bad this year... I hope he pans out. unlike you will acknowledge the GOOD and the bad with him as a qb. something you cant grasp when it comes to taylor. I don't care who's starting as long as they win.

  8. 3 minutes ago, Stank_Nasty said:

right. becuz that's what he does every week. lets go ahead and nit pick stats from a bad game and act like that's how he's played all year. lets totally wipe his solid start off the map. becuz..... 50 yds last week.....i'm not even a big tyrod guy, man. I want a new qb to go forward with after this year. but this hype for a 5th rounder amidst a playoff run in a weak AFC is ridiculous.

what happens when he plays like a 5th round rookie? which history says will probably happen.... would that be considered trying to get better at the position?

Some would rather see another 50 yard day from Tyrod then give a new rookie a chance at success.

Tyrod shot himself in the foot two weeks in a row, next man up. The NFL is what have you done for me lately.

Get excited man the Bills are actively working to get batter at QB something we haven't seen here in a long time. Support the change, it took Chicago years and 5 OCs before realizing it was the QB.

     Go Peterman, Go Bills

right. becuz that's what he does every week. i'm not even a big tyrod guy, man. but this hype for a 5th rounder amidst a playoff run in a weak AFC is ridiculous.

what happens when he plays like a 5th round rookie? which history says will probably happen.... would that be considered trying to get better at the position?

  10. so i'm assuming the people on this page apparently think the 5th round rookie is apparently gonna come in a light it up in the midst of what should still be a playoff push?

what happens if he just plays like a 5th round rookie? is everyone still praising this regimen then..... becuz that's honestly whats probably gonna happen. I pray to god the kid lights it up but you guys on this specific page are cracking me up.....

I mean.... one guy saying he's sold off all his tickets becuz we benched our starter in the midst of a playoff push for a 5th rounder rookie. good lord. i don't know what all those people are taking but I want some!!!! ....in fact I would venture to say with the way the Oline has been playing and the way the defense has caved, this is exactly the scenario you don't want your young qb in. that's the recipe for ruining a player.

I agree. Only two reasons why we might have a chance - the drubbing we took last sunday SHOULD bring out the best in players and coaches, and Rivers not playing. Clemons is a dinker and we'll take that all day.

I don't disagree but he honestly may not have to throw more than 10-15 balls. I don't think I've ever seen such a horrid 2 game stretch in run defense.

Two more losses to play with my friends.  Gotta get to 10-6 somehow.  I don't think 9-7 gets it done.  So they can't lose to the LA Chargers.  In my opinion, at best they will split with NE and Miami so there's your other 2 losses.

next best team after buffalo is 4-5. 9-7 will most likely get it done for somebody.

IKR. Looking at their record, and without Rivers, we're lucky to be in this position to win this game. Yet, it won't be an easy game. The rest of the team is legit. And they were rounding into form. They played Jags tough man. They almost won if not for that stupid pick by Rivers.

i'm usually quite the optimist but if you look back on the last 2 games its no far fetched to think we still get handled even with clemons trotting out for them. they can pressure the qb and have 2 very capable dual threats at rb. a solid recipe for the loss right there.

Thanks for the informative post.   What was not 100% accurate?   I said there's a reason he doesn't start.   That's 100% accurate.  There IS a reason.   I don't know and you don't know what it is, but there IS a reason.

You actually think there's NO reason he doesn't start.   You think that for the past 20 weeks the coaches NEVER discussed who should start at right guard?  NEVER talked about it?

I think you need to explain yourself.

i agree with you here but don't you wonder even the slightest how we saw him finish the season so solid at center last year that he couldn't be even a slight upgrade at RG.... I just wonder if they value his depth and versatility slightly more than his small upgrade at rg. I dunno. just spit balling.
