  1. i get that the dudes initial post wasnt supposed to be incendiary but comparing one season of losing your qb after you've had 20 years of favre and rodgers and saying its remotely like what bills fans have gone through is just really dumb.

i get there was no offense intended but its just really stupid to try and even compare the 2 situations or even try and pretend that he has any idea what its been like being a fan of the bills.

  2. It's pretty sad that most of us are hoping for an average WR to come back this week knowing the season pretty much hangs in the balance given how pathetic the offense is.

But even with Matthews in the lineup no team is going to fear the Bills as long as Taylor is the QB and even a team like the Bucs who have one of the worst defense statistically can get on track against this offense.

    lololololol

this reads "I acknowledge our wr's are garbage. but i'm so bullheaded that I don't seem to understand that it matters and this is still all tyrods fault"

oh man. I literally LOL'd when I read this. its a classic.

  3. What is the time frame here?

2015 and 2016? or does that include 2017 as well?

because TT is gun shy. He doesn't throw it when he should most of the time.

The blame everyone else by Taylor is growing old.

Sorry... Did I say it was acceptable? Or am I saying it is not acceptable?

    It is the latter.

To me Tentative Taylor has not done enough to convince me that when the game is on the line he will walk away with a win.

The average of 2 great games per season out of 14 -16 games is not cutting it.

you stated "it could be" acceptable if taylor had any anticipation.... whether taylor is playing well or not the lack of talent outside right now is never acceptable. hands down. and to act like it doesn't play a role in his shortcomings over the last 2 years is completely laughable. people have posted his numbers with his starting wr's as opposed to with the backups. its night and day. and the only argument that's put up when these FACTS AND HARD NUMBERS are posted is "but but but, I saw people open. so that must mean it doesn't make a difference who's out there"...... its nauseating.

and again. we need better at qb in the future. i'm not arguing that point. heck.... I'm actually really interested to see what Peterman can do but I personally think if he were thrust into action right now it may be career suicide to a rookie, given the "weapons" we have at the moment.

  4.

Sure we can blame the defense in part for last seasons record, BUT that now improved defense s/b worth close to 3 additional wins.

Is our current talent level at WR & TE acceptable?

It could be if Tentative Taylor throws the ball with anticipation and not wait for the perfect opportunity that may never arrive

It seems very little has changed with TT from last season to this.

    Beyond injuries ......

How many games over the last 2 seasons did the passing game get abandoned later in games and the Bills lost because of it with both Sammy and Clay healthy?

just saying it may not be as bad as some Champions want to admit.

i literally LOL'd at this. the fact that you think its remotely acceptable is hilarious and speaks volumes about why these "debates" on tyrod are so pointless. minds have obviously already been made up and theres NOTHING that can be said to change views.... when somebody can look at this trash heap of wr's and say its acceptable all I can do is chuckle. that's just absurd.

FTR, i'm totally on board with finding a better option at qb. I don't think anything has changed with tyrod. I think he's an average qb with occasional game changing potential. I think the defense finally stepping up has shown how underrated his efficiency and lack of turnovers can be.... but to not acknowledge certain things like the talent in the wr corp that has routinely evaded the team over the last 2 years via injury or lack of caring by the FO is just silly. there are all of about 3 qb's that could carry this scrap heap at wr and TE to wins.

people need to get a freaking clue.

  5.

They weight the plays in DVOA - so a 9 yard run on 4th and 10 isn't a positive play and a 2 yard run on 3rd and 1 is a positive play. Factors in the opponent as well.

QBR has the highest win correlation of any passing stat:

    http://www.footballperspective.com/is-espns-qbr-the-best-measure-of-quarterback-play/

It actually correlates even better with predicting future wins than it does with past wins.

this will fall on deaf ears..... minds are made up.

  6. Stats lie especially Tyrods. Most of his stats are padded stats when the game is already over. Take a look at good old Trent Edwards the same stat garbage was thrown at everyone when fans wanted him replaced. Many games Tyrod would stink up the first 3 quarters then all of a sudden in prevent D he comes alive and pads those stats, well we lost but Tyrods numbers were good.SMH

of course.... when the stats clearly say he's been solid when he has his starters out there and doesn't support the "BUT I SWEAR I SAW THE 4TH STRINGERS WIDE OPEN ALL GAME" argument..... then the stats must clearly lie.

    ..... "SMH"

    Site specific games and totals.

he wont.... he's just swear up and down he's seen the 3rd, 4th, and 5th stringers wide open all game every game and claim that routinely missing your first and 2nd options in the passing game for extended periods of time during a season shouldn't matter........ becuz eye ball test

  7.

    Yikes!

    @FieldYates

Currently healthy Bills WRs/TEs: * Zay Jones * Andre Holmes * Brandon Tate * Kaelin Clay * Nick O'Leary * Logan Thomas * Khari Lee

how anyone can see that lineup and then proceed to crucify taylor, I have no idea.... I honestly don't know if I can remember a worse cast of "weapons" in the drought. its impressively bad. I can only chuckle becuz at one point last year I think I remember saying close to the same thing. LOLOL.

  8.

...he's here for the duration of 2017.....he'll never be confused with Air Coryell & Dan Fouts, but even if he puts up pedestrian numbers and gets you "W" weekly, what else matters?..TEN would be nice.....OBD STILL drafts a QB in the 1st of 2018 IMO.......

What a great scenario though.... win some games. get a taste of post season and STILL have the ammo to go get a top talent in the draft.

  9. Reality is if you are such a good QB then show it and carry a team with your arm or legs to at least a playoff game, that is reality. This team appears to have a top 10 defense and we know Shady is a top 3 RB. I am just going to watch this season and see if Taylor can elevate his game and take this team to the playoffs.

becuz our run game has been such a threat this year right?

meanwhile there's no mention of what looks like a bottom 5 wr corp in this post. that's conveniently left out in these sort of posts

there are all of about 3 freaking qb's that could take a team on its back if the defense and run game let down and they were stuck with these "weapons" to throw to....

its hilarious to me how much this gets glossed over by anyone saying he needs to be able to prop a team up on his back.

The defense was the main reason the Bills didn't make the playoff last season. The offense put up a lot of points.

now that he finally has a defense around him we see exactly how UNDERVALUED taylors ability to take care of the football was.

I personally don't think much has changed with taylor other than the fact that he seems slightly more patient and we finally get to see how beneficial and VALUABLE his ball protection and efficient play(that's been around for 3 seasons now) can be with a consistent defense.

  10. the steelers have played absolutely NOBODY and that trend continues this week. 0-4 browns, 2-2 vikings, 1-3 bears, 2-2 ravens and then the 2-2 jags this coming week.

meanwhile we've only played one friggin team thats less than 3-1 and even the jets are 2-2.

this one hits home with me becuz I live on the outskirts of "stiller" country just south of erie, pa, and just like every other year every single fan walks about yapping about the "stairway to seven" and how they HAVE to be the favorites this year. blah blah blah blah blah. BARF.

  11. beyond the sarcasm In my last post

when he passes for 35 or more times TT is roughly 2-7.

There will be games where he needs to pass more than 35 time and get a win. He's capable enough, he's just not great at it.

living in steeler country I distinctly remember the talk, until about year 5 or 6, of how bad big bens record was when he had to throw the ball more than 30 times a game. it was staggeringly bad. they won a superbowl with him during that span. now big ben finally developed into an amazing qb that could basically win anyway he pleased at one point and I doubt taylor does that. but we still may see some development from him. obviously not to that degree.

my main point here is..... while it would be nice to have a gun slinger that can put a team on his back, it doesn't mean a certain qb isn't a solid option just becuz he doesn't make a living doing that.

  12. I've never been a Tyrod hater. I want him to do well. It's actually the Tyrod "lovers" that I think live in a world of delusion.

Tyrod has gotten the job done the last couple games, more from the mistakes he's avoided than the plays he's made. It helps having the best scoring defense in the NFL.

As a final note... I'd pick a game where we get more than one offensive touchdown before chest bumping about the QB. He's been fine, but please let's just get a consistent season together before running around anointing anyone.

an asset that has been completely underrated the previous 2 season becuz of how inept the defense was.

I personally don't think much has changed with taylor and think the qb search will, and probably should, continue. but the guy has won more than he's lost and its silly how many people downgrade his ability to play efficient football and PROTECT THE FOOTBALL. such an underrated part of his game and now finally with a defense that can hold its own we see how valuable it can be.

  13.

    STATS ARE USELESS.

    Thank you for your participation.

    You just don't get it.

Having the fewest passing yards in the NFL is NOT a great achievement. It may hide faults when he is called upon to be a passing QB.

when he passes for 35 or more times TT is roughly 2-7. If anything I'm off by 1 game at most.

while the people that rely on them too much sometimes look foolish. is just as ignorant, just on the other side of the spectrum.

  14. I think its brought up basically every topic so...

we WAY underrate it. That's a QB rating over 100 in 5 of the last 7 and about 108 I think. He always gives his team a chance regardless of his garbage "weapons."

while it may get brought up, Kirby is 100% right. I personally find myself quite frustrated with taylor becuz of his inconsistencies throwing the football but one thing is for sure. the anti-tyrod establishment hold absolutely no value in the fact that he just simply DOES NOT turn the ball over. now that the bills finally have a defense its very apparent how big of an asset that can be. VERY UNDERVALUED. totally agree, mr. Jackson.

  15.

The sad thing is that what I was posting was indistinguishable from a lot of the crap posted on the board.

I was actually mocking the practice of "If you ignore all the good stuff, everything sucks" attitude. "Barry Sanders broke a few long runs; if you ignore those, he had a bad day."

sorry. voice inflexion is hard on a forum. and you're right its sad that I can take it seriously becuz of some of the crazy that comes outta here.

  16.

What's wrong with crediting players with their performance? Clay had a monster day, and was responsible for making Taylor look moderately ****ty, instead of the completely ****ty that he was. Why is it so hard to see this?

was he responsible for taylor plopping 2 long passes right into his hands? clay had a GREAT day. taylor delivered him the ball.

FTR I didn't like taylors game as a whole but your reasoning is beyond stupid.

  17.

12-20 for 182 yards today. If Clay doesn't have a stellar game Taylor is 7-15 for less than 80 yards. There is no other way to put it: that is just awful, awful QB play. Stop crediting Taylor with Clay's stellar performance.

this cant be serious.... its got to be sarcasm, as taylor was obviously the one dropping them in smoothly to clay.

So because clay caught passes that were thrown to him Tyrod didn't do anything? What about the passes that hit zay in the hands?

You don't negate anything! That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

right?.... he's got to be kidding around

  18.

My way of describing it is this :

The Pro-TT guys think the glass is half-full.

The Ant-TT guys deny there's a drop of water in the glass, deny the glass exists, deny there's a universe for the glass to sit in.

No one suggests Mr. Taylor is heading for Canton, or he solves the Bill's long term qb needs. That includes all his supporters. They just say he's played better than some give him credit for and still has a potential upside. Sorry, people, but that ain't a radical view.

Meanwhile, it's common for the haters to say Taylor isn't even a starting quarterback - hell, isn't even a quarterback at all, but a running back in disguise. Whether that's a "radical view" or not, who knows? The bigger problem is it's counterfactual and brain-dead stupid. Most of the heat generated in the Great Tyrod Message Board Wars comes from haters trolling and supporters taking the bait. Since trolls will always be among ye (to paraphrase scripture), I guess we just need to stop taking the bait.

the bolded made me chuckle and its spot on.

  19. Wonder how much better it would be for the season if those 4 TD drops had been caught. Clay Tolbert Jones x1 Jones x2.

Clay catch would have negated a int. Jones x2 was no deal as he tipped it to Holmes. Tolbert I thought was a catch and TD as he did not go to the ground to make the catch but not clear on the rule now.

well the Tolbert one is a none issue becuz on the next play it was a td pass. and on the play the jones one is a none issue becuz it was caught anyways.

  20. Exactly my thoughts.

They changed schemes and lost a lot of coaching and personnel talent(all self inflicted). They have 0 playmakers outside of McCoy and Taylor. It's a match up league.

And when the offense struggles Taylor will get the blame when the FACTS are that the personnel guys stripped the team of talented offensive players and coaches.

IMO the running game will struggle for most of the year. That should not happen considering where the rushing game was the past couple years.

I agree. I mean...... can anyone think of a wr corp worse than this one at the moment? a lumbering slot wr on one side and rookie with what looks to be a case of the dropsies on the other. YUCK.
