  1. Sorry should've clarified fan/media wise if they don't make the SB next year. I personally believe the Pegulas will keep him as long as he wants and want to emulate what the Steelers have done with very few coaching changes.
  2. Bingo. I think the defense is good, but they bought their own hype and rank over the results which happened too much.
  3. -Frazier is overrated and propped up by McD, the D's talent, and Josh -If this exact game was in Buffalo they win because of being home -Josh will win MVP next year because he is just going to be soo damn pissed off he is taking it the distance -Goodbye Cole, Sanders, & Hughes. We have replacements and the cap space can be used elsewhere -If they get a true CB2 stud pass rush issues are minimized. -BB should be the new DC... ok that ones for laughs
  4. That is fair. The Bills luck was atrocious all year long. OT wise I guess my thought is this. Bills get a chance to answer and score. KC now again gets the ball where points win the game. Either way its one of the same to me. If you adjust OT I'd rather see a 10 min quarter period AND then the OT rules we have now if it is still tied. Regardless the game should never have come down to a coin flip and the defense/coaches can thank everyone for that.
  5. Remember on offense they run a lot of RPO's so Josh many times is making some of these calls not Daboll. I really think honestly that if the Bills fail to reach the SB next season the calls for McD to go will be pretty loud. You only have so long for a window and you do not want to lose all of it because you wouldn't make a change.
  6. Well that sucked haha. The hero died in this one and it will linger until the Bills are headed to their next SB with an AFC Conference Banner. I have been reading and seeing a lot of people's reactions and it is going to be a game that goes down on the list (you all know the list). With that said here are some thoughts I have from the game and season in general. Maybe it makes you feel better, maybe worse, maybe you are still angered everything is cool in my book. 1. Allen- Starts and ends here. If you are a Star Wars fan like me his Jedi training is complete. Josh the last two years has shown he is one of the leagues best players, but there was still going to be that time when he had to go toe to toe with Mahomes in the biggest moment. The game will show a loss for the team, but Josh got a W. If you want to be the best you have to have the ability to match the best in the brightest moment. Last year in the AFC title he wasn't there yet, he is now. The fact he was straight up injuring Chief players running the ball was unreal. Every major media analyst I read said he was the best player on the field (with respect to Mahomes who was also sublime). From the 2nd half of the Bucs half on the light has come on for Josh on how to take over games even if he is not at his best OR that he can absolutely be a world crusher when he is on top of his game. Many questions lingered into this season if Josh was a one year wonder, if he could do it again, could his playoff performance match how well his regular season games have been. The answer to all of these now is yes yes yes etc.. The question that everyone media wise seems to be asking is when will Josh win his title because the lights are finally at the max. 2. 13 Seconds. This is going to be haunting Bills fans until they break through. My thought on the failure of the defense stems from getting burned by Hill on the prior possession for a TD. I hated that they basically played a prevent D that was conservative to the max, but they seemed to be in that mindset to not lose the game because of what had occurred prior. What bothered me was when the ball was still on the KC half of the 50 why defenders were not instructed to take PI penalties if needed to stop completions. KC had two timeouts and didn't need to go a tremendous distance even with the limited time to tie it. To me the idea should've been never let KC by the 50 until you forced a hail mary even if you mug a guy. The mentality just looked so soft it was frustrating as a fan. In regards to the kickoff of doing a squib or booming it, I think that is fine but there was legitimate risk of Hill or another guy breaking it where the Chiefs were in a place to try something. It never was a perfect solution but the kickoff thing bothers me less then what happened after. You have the #1 defense and the broke like a dam . 3. Defense. Speaking of the #1 defense not good Vern not good. Tre White certainly was missed back there, but your All Pro safeties had their worst games in a while. One of my issues with the defense that is turning into a problem in general is they seem to care more about the headlines then reality at points. Stats and rankings are great and all but when the big moments came yesterday they failed again like they failed last year. The defensive line missed so many tackles on Mahomes who credit to him was like a damn eel slipping away. I really feel the defense is missing a tone setter in a nasty type of way. I have been watching the Man in the Arena thing and Rodney Harrison is very interesting because he is an admitted jerk, but his entire goal is to be that way because its all about winning. The Bills defense can use a guy like that and I truthfully think because Edmunds is the QB on D they go off his personality which just isn't a fighter in that sense. Milano sometimes will lay out a guy and do that, but I really think in game like last night having a guy who could light a guy up would've been the swing to get the defense from being on their heels so much. 4. One Score Games- The BIlls went 0-6 in one score games this playoff. It was almost self fulfilling for the season to end that way. I understand one score games are a partially a product of luck and circumstance, but their failure to win even one of PIT/TEN/JAX cost them homefield which probably swings the day also. I found out the Bills have not won a playoff game on the road since Miami in the 93 AFC title. You can't help feeling jilted after that many close losses and wonder what could have been if they could've stayed home. 5. Homefield- In the same vein I feel the team learned an agonizing lesson also last night. Coming into the year the motto was we want to host the AFC crown in our building and force everyone here. I truthfully think some players understated how tough that goal is and the work to get there. Without a doubt the season changed the 2nd half of the Bucs game on, but I think the team truly understands after the season they had what really needs to be done if they want that. The comparisons to 89 seem to be more true in many respects then before as I hope the Bills now get that every team will be throwing their best shot at you weekly as they will be favorites again next year. You are not sneaking up on anyone and it is up to your own work to get what you want. It is a crappy lesson but hopefully it sets in. 6. Davis- Can someone please explain to me why Gabe Davis was not included in the gameplan for what felt like the first 10 games. Next year let him be WR2 and roll with him there. 7. Passing Offense- in general I actually am most excited about for 22' as Davis has emerged, Knox has now proven he can be a TE1, Mckenize is fine as a WR3 if needed, and Singletary did quite well as the top back the last 8 games. The offense seems to finally have found an identify that can throw like crazy but run when needed. If you told me next year we are running Diggs, Davis, Kumerow, McKenzie, Knox, & Singletary out next year with Beasley and Sanders gone I would say I am good lets roll. I would assume probably a cheap FA addition may happen also. 8. Coaching- If that was Daboll's last game it was a good one outside of a few running calls I didn't care for. Overall though I appreciate how he helped groom Josh and transform the offense into something I look forward to weekly. Frazier on the other hand just makes you throw your hands up. He has done well in a lot of ways, yet the defense has crumbled in some big moments multiple times in his time here. Last night is a pretty bad blemish with his unit and the end of game play calling. As for McD the proverbial hot seat is now a thing. The expectations next season will be SB or bust as they will for the following years after. The buck starts and stops with him and the end of game leaves a lot of questions at his feet. The window for a SB is never going to be wider and the Bills have 5-6 years where Josh will be at the height of his powers. If McD fails to get this team in the next season or two to the title, the calls will come for him fair or not. 9. Sports- In sports nothing is linear and every championship team has a path of its to get there. People love to compare this current group to the 90s Bills and the trials and in many ways it is similar. But on the flipside they also could be like Mannings Colts who after making the AFC title in 2003 suffered two bad losses in the divisional round before breaking through. John Elway never won his titles until literally his final two seasons and suffered so much heartbreak before finally getting his ring. The hope this year was the Bills would keep ascending as they have kept building up, instead they fell short earlier while losing a major opportunity to get to the big game on their own terms. The pain of today is knowing this is a team that is championship worthy but the opportunity is now done for this year and there is no true certainty of when the breakthrough may be. I feel pretty good knowing with Josh that day will be here in the next few years, but the crappy reality is they blew such a good chance and we now basically wait a year to get back to the same place and see what they can do again. I just really hope that that breakthrough is not many years away if at all.
  7. I would say from last year until the end of this decade every year is basically SB or bust for me. Doesn't ruin my life or season if they do not make every year as it is extremely tough even with a good team, but they have the QB, roster, and coach to be in play every year. If after this decade you said we hadn't won a title I would say they failed to meet the goal/expectations while I enjoyed a nice period of success. Same as with the 90s Bills they failed to finish the job, but it was still a great time to be a fan and period of football.
  8. I would move the score to a TD difference as the Bills MO this year in losses have been close and heartbreaking, but otherwise if the Bills lose this is the script. My personal fear with KC is with White out Buffalo tries to adjust coverage to take away Hill which opens Kelce up more and we can't answer that nor the heavy screen plays the Chiefs have been running I personally think both QBs shine in this game and it just ends up being a coin flip, but if either QB were to have a semi off day it is because the defense forces them to be one dimensional in how they have to play the game whether it is Allen not running or Mahomes not being able to leave the pocket.
  9. Quality Control Manager & Lead for "Special Projects"
  10. With GM's you really need to use the long view. Rushing a QB pick still will not fix the fundamental issue of building the roster to have depth and the talent to maximize that QB's skill set. The Chiefs and Bills both targeted QB's which they had very specific visions for and how they would support them. As fans I get you always want QB asap, but at times it pays dividends to wait a little for your guy. This is a QB weak draft and Schoen would be walking into a team that needs a full on autopsy before making adjustments. Jones probably isn't the guy but god knows what exists with him or some of the skill guys given the prior regime. You are 100% correct that you need a guy like an Allen for your long term success, but the foundation has to be ready to build on without any lingering issues from the prior build or lack there of. If the Mara family is not onboard with a total rebuild any prospective GM/coach would be a fool to take it.
  11. It is not just FA but trade also. Most players are fine with Buffalo McCoy came, Diggs approved the trade, Hyde was a great signing. You do have a few which it is a no go but that is true for virtually every city as some players really have no desire for the big lights of NYC either. With Buffalo winning it makes it a much better destination. I would agree prior to 2017 it was not as easy a sell as the team had limited success and the area takes a little to learn and love.
  12. While I really hope that Daboll and Schoen don't leave they certainly have earned it and going to an NFC opponent is far preferable over AFC. I would be very curious to see if they go to the Giants as a GM-Coach pair how much they try to mimic what Beane and McD have done. In many respects they would be entering a similar situation to the Bills in 2017: -Cap is a mess -Some talent exists but no one really knows to what extent -Culture is non-existent -General direction of the franchise is rudderless -Starting QB can do some things but has warts at the same time I would be curious on how this could play out. Beane is a disciple of cap mgmt and maximizing your assets from cap space to draft picks. Would Schoen be willing to eat cap the same way? McD was big about building a culture of competition and earning your spot. Daboll has proven to be good most of the time with the X's and O's, would he focus on culture in the way McD did. Personally I think the smartest thing McD/Beane from the outset was just taking a year to evaluate what they had while building competition along the way. 2018 was the sacrificial lamb cap wise and QB development wise. The Giants could do similar as their talent in certain places isn't awful and I could truthfully see Daboll making the offense into a competent unit. What are your thoughts on this and if the Bills plan would be copied to any degree if at all?
  13. Bills 28 Chiefs 24 Football fans finally get the matchup people have wanted with Allen Mahomes as both have strong days. KC gets out to an early lead on the Bills compliments of a Pringle screen TD in the first but Allen rallies the boys with Diggs getting a TD on a Slant from 5 yds out. In the second the Bills get sack fumble from Jerry Hughes on Mahomes and Singletary runs one in from 15 yds up. KC moves the ball late in the half but the drive stalls and they are held to a FG. Up 14-10 out of half Buffalo gets the ball and goes on a 7 minute drive to score a TD to Davis from Allen. Up 21-10 the Bills trade possessions until KC moves the ball and get a TD from Kelce to narrow the gap to 21-17 entering the 4th. Sensing blood in the water Allen methodically gets the Bills downfield and finishes the drive on a TD run to get Buffalo back to two score lead 28-17. The Chiefs move quickly to get a TD with a few minutes to go to make it 28-24 on a Hill reverse TD run, but the Bills offense is able to run the clock out. Allen 22-31 275 yds 2 TD 43 yds rush 1 TD Singletary 64 yds 12 att 1 TD Diggs 8 rec 118 yds 1 TD
  14. JAX fans I have noticed are probably the most insecure fanbase in the league. I kinda get it because if you are a fan you are routinely dumped on the way we were during the drought except you have no real fanbase or culture, no great history outside of the late 90s, opposing fans regularly take over, and your owner has actively tried to make your team be in London. The actually Jag fans I have met are incredibly defensive, but its like dealing with a JV squad who you really just shrug off and move on.
  15. As I was born in 88' I have no idea about this 83 game. What happened or caused it to be the Wild West?
  16. As the back to back 2015 and 16 off season champs I salute the Browns for this
  17. Titans over Bengals 28-20 (I think people are really underselling TEN too hard) Bills over Chiefs 30-24 Packers over 49ers 34-20 Rams over Bucs 27-23
  18. You really have zero clue what your talking about. Try ripping off your big toe nail and tell me what you mobility is. People criticize stuff like this or turf toe etc.. and have zero clue how much even something like losing a toe nail impacts your ability to move. These guys are literally the peak of athletics and injuries that limit them even 10% have a massive impact on what they can or can't do. I have no doubt Lamar tried to make a go and it just wouldn't happen. I blocked a shot in hockey that went right to the bone on my leg and I thought my leg broke, I can't imagine what his situation was. The Ravens had a cursed type season of injuries and even with that had multiple chances to get in. Truthfully their great failing was losing so many once score games. I will say this with Lamar eventually wear and tear is going to happen which will slow down some of his dynamic ability. They have to let him pass more and utilize that piece of his skillset if he is going to be an elite player 10 years from now. He is going to get a big money deal though and the Ravens and their fans will feel good about what they had regardless of this year.
  19. That is my thing. EVEN if everything settles this summer do you want to be the guy bringing that circus to town after everything. The moment things go sour its a 10 alarm fire in the making.
  20. With the current roster 3-4 years or so before age really sets in. NOW the window doesn't shut after that as with Allen he will keep it open to a decent degree, but there will be some change. Typically most franchise QB's see their first act and then there is a 2nd act. The key is once the roster turns over how fast you can infuse new impactful pieces to keep it going. If you look at Big Ben the 2000s he had one group of players and then the 2010s another group. They did reinfuse him with talent Brown/Bell etc.. but never got past the Brady hurdle and their own hubris. The one thing with windows is they close before you realize it. You can basically pin point with every great QB and team when there's truly closed. For the 90s Bills their last great gasp was the Steelers loss in 95. After that Kelly was pretty much done in 96 physically and the gas was dry. BUT going into 96 you wouldn't have thought that at the time. In 2019 the Pats window clearly closed as Brady and a decent defense got rolled by the Titans at home. But people still thought until he left they would reload and be good. The Seahawks exploded like a supernova in 2012 but after their loss in 2014 the magic never came back. I think a lot of people would've figured another SB run would happen but here we are and they faded. In general windows being open are really really tough in all sports. Golden State in the NBA ran super hot for 7 years and then fell back for two. The examples are endless. For the Bills it is reasonable to say they probably have 3-4 years here. One of the other things thought is outside of NE/Brady most of the time you get maybe 1-3 cracks at winning the title. Brees and Rodgers each have only one a single title, Ben won 2 and went to 3, Manning went to 4 and won 2, Eli won 2, Russel Wilson went to 2 won one, etc.. It is incredibly difficult to get a ton of cracks and once your there that could be your only shot. Marino went year 2 and never again, but Kelly went to 4 and Elway 5. So yea maybe the Bills win the SB this year (god willing) but it is very possible despite the window being open that could be our only crack (not complaining if they win). The AFC is loaded with young talented QBs in Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, & Jackson who will all challenge Allen even with his and the Bills window open. If they all eventually get even one crack apiece this decade, that leaves four chances for Josh to have his or go. That isn't including either that some young hotshot comes in to join the crew like Lawrence. In general what I would say is feel good about the fact at some point in probably the next 7-8 years Allen and the Bills will get their chance at the crown and make their run god wiling. How many more times they do after that? There is just soo much that goes into it and you need a little luck too
  21. I think part of it for me is the drought years were such killer that since 2017 on its been just relax and enjoy the good stuff because the bad really is that bad.
  22. I wasn't old enough to remember those, but I am with you just one game at a time and enjoy what we are going through.
  23. Baltimore had an insane amount of injuries though losing their top3 RBs, both top CBs and then Lamar. Anytime a QB like Lamar goes out I tend to give some leeway as the Bills without Josh or Chiefs without Mahomes would struggle too. Now next year if they miss yea I'd agree.
  24. I am going to go with the LA Chargers. It feels like this is the life story of the Chargers history, have a great QB, team has talent, proceed to waste said QB and talent due to coaching, bad luck, and poor play at the worst time. Some people may say Cleveland but I was not as high on them as some plus injuries wrecked their lineup along with 5 losses by less then a TD. Baltimore also just got wrecked by injuries and luck in one score games too so I wouldn't put them in this. The other team I'd consider is Dallas who is a talented team that just flames out yearly when the bright lights come.
  25. Both sides have reason to fear the other. Each team has a QB who is an other world Demi God who makes play and can take over a game which no answer is possible. There are only two other QB's who have a similar aura and both are older and not as mobile being Rodgers and Brady.
