The outcome of the trade is super one sided to KC, only some Bills fans would argue otherwise. However, to this part of you post, I would say they handed KC a prospect not a HOF QB. If the Bills traded Josh Allen in this past years draft for someone else's one that would be what you describe. Mahomes was not a surefire prospect. You are playing hindsight, you have to judge the trade based on what information was available at the time it happened. Analogous to two poker players going all in preflop, one with 7-8 suited and one with a pair of aces. A straight comes up for the guy with 7-8, that does not make that a good preflop decision.

Interesting Beane said he would stick and pick Coleman unless someone knocked his socks off. Yet one pick earlier he took a typical deal to swap with the Panthers. To me this says he had Legette and Coleman rated about the same and since the Panthers grabbed one of them, he took the other.

Chiefs Bills Playoff Replay / Bass Kicking
Matt_In_NH replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
He does not exude confidence to me....and frankly never has....he has not had a lot of big moments.....that kick last year was by far his biggest kick in his career and he shanked it bad. The Lions game on Thanksgiving to win the game I believe hit the upright but it was good. The Philly kicker needs a 59 yarder in a rain storm and drains it.....Butker hits all his big kicks. Tucker is mostly money except in the playoff game vs the Bills which was an anomaly. There are 13 active kickers with a higher career FG% than Bass. Not sure his contract was justified but we are stuck with him for now. Hopefully he can turn it around in big moments next year. -
In hindsight, should we have traded for Diontae Johnson?
Matt_In_NH replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
From what I see he has a $10M salary plus roster bonus in Caroliina and a $6M dead cap for the Steelers this year. Maybe but I think they are better off getting younger and trying to find a real difference maker on a smaller deal. -
I think moving on from BB is one thing, calling the owner of the Falcons unsolicited and telling him all the reasons he should not hire him is something else. They don't like each other but they are tied at the hip for the crazy run they had together.
-
That is not why, the reason is Kraft is super sensitive and did not want to be picked on. BB wanted nothing to do with that shot.

Bills sign Chase Claypool, Smoot, Jones
Matt_In_NH replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is low risk because there is no financial commitment and no one is depending on Claypool. He will not be a bad apple that spoils the bunch because the Bills organization is driven by leadership. If he starts with nonsense he will be gong. -

What are your thoughts on the Steelers QB situation?
Matt_In_NH replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Much better than last year -
This is interesting, probably had this agreed to ahead of time and Ross tested the waters. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/tom-brady-shuts-down-jokes-152723845.html

Bills apparently cockblocked the Pats*** at the end of the 1st round…
Matt_In_NH replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I have no issue with the trade back. Beane did say they figured it was a WR. -
I get that their play time can affect things but you have to try and win the games with the guys on your roster. I mean what is Beane gonna say, hey McDermott I know Coleman is out this week with a hammy but leave Hollins on the bench cause we need that 5th round pick next year.

Matt_In_NH replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane specifically said the bolded did not happen. That is what I figured too but he did not ask and KC did not offer. But I think the rest of what you are saying is true, they likely had 2-4 guys bunched up and so trading down to get better picks later made sense. -
The difference is Brady and everyone who participated signed up for the roast. That is what you saw, it was not hard to predict the topics they were going to go after. These things are as brutal as you can get....that is the point to go where you are not supposed to go. Those who participated knew what they were signing up for.

Matt_In_NH replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
To the bolded, the reality is we don't know, the Chiefs could have taken Coleman, the Bills did not have knowledge of who the Chiefs were taking. I don't think the Bills wanted Worthy. But my point is we dont know how the Bills had guys but it is likely they had 2-3 that they liked "more or less the same" and so trading a couple spots was not a big risk they could not get one of the bunch. If they truly like Coleman above and beyond the others they would have stayed at 28 and selected him. It is very possible they liked Legette about the same and when the Panthers selected Legette it made additional trade downs more risky for them. To the second paragraph, the Bills had no idea the Chiefs wanted Worthy, any of the other WR's or a DT or anyone else. If the Bills did not select Worthy, the Chiefs could have traded with whoever had 29 and got Worthy. I have no issues with the trade, it sounds like you think I do.
