  1. I do not understand what you are complaining about. The Bills did this very thing last year to set themselves up for the future and people complain (How can you trade away talent) they got extra 2,3,4 and picks for this coming draft. Who have you heard the Bills are not willing to trade? There are reports of what they are looking for with both KB and McCoy about the only tradeable pieces on O and they want to hold the D unless they get blown away. The issue is you are damned if they trade and damned if they don’t because of the fan base.
  2. I totally disagree - in Chicago and LA - the GM was in place a year before the coach and started the roll over before the coach was hired. In LA - the offense was totally redone with Goff, Kupp, Robert Woods, Cooks, some new o-line over the last 3 years - at least 50 percent of the starting offense is new within the last 3 years. This off season they remade the defense with guys like Peters, Talib, Suh, Shields at minimum. The difference was the rebuild started under Fisher, but the QB was already picked. They then hired a coaching staff to fit what they had already started to build on offense. Chicago is the same - that team has totally changed under the GM that was in place a year prior to the coach. He found his QB last year and then brought in a coach. They got 3 brand new WRs in FA this year, they got all new lb’s via trade and draft, new TE, new DL, new DBs within the last 2 years. That roster has seen 60% turnover in the last couple of years. Both places kept guys that were working and traded both players and draft picks (lots of draft picks- including several #1 picks) to get the players on the current roster. Indy’s new GM immediately cut at least 4 starters from the defense to begin a rebuild on that side of the ball - the offense was never the issue - so there was minimal changes to that unit, but in 1 year nearly 50% change over on the defensive side - and my guess is if they miss the playoffs- more changes will occur on both sides. The NFL is about constant change and turn-over - the difference seems to be (at least to me) when you get your QB and what you have for contracts when the guys are in place. You can then work around and begin either building or cutting down based upon the QB position and contracts. Once you get the QB - then you can start building a team around him because you know what you want the offense to look like. Even KC (which had a Pro Bowl/MVP QB in Smith) made changes to the offense to better suit Mahomes. The difference because they already had a QB - they were acquiring offensive talent well before Mahomes arrived and therefore had people in place when they made the decision to move forward with Mahomes. Put Mahomes or Watson in Buffalo last year and both are failures - the team was no different last year to what Allen is dealing with this year - both would look like the projects they are.
  3. Except he is not staying on the Broncos practice squad. He got called up to the active roster to replace Kelly. My understanding was if they did not move him up to the active roster he would be on the Bills active roster. It is not like he declined to stay in a lower place as you are insinuating - he had a choice between Buffalo and Denver’s active roster and he has been in Denver’s system all off season and up until now - easy choice for the young man.
  4. Does he want to come here? Keeping tabs to me - means we reached out and want to bring him in, but he is not ready to sign here. He might be waiting to see if something else opens up on a better team or at least back to the team he has already been on. You make it sound like they are not trying to get some of these players.
  5. My guess - and it is only a guess, but with the change at QB for the next couple of weeks - Foster would have been even more of an unused asset. DA will need more short and intermediate routes and that is where Cam comes in along with Zay. Josh Allen could use a guy like Foster where as Anderson can not. Josh just was not at a point trust wise to use Foster consistently and Foster did not make the plays when they tried. I would not be surprised to see other changes to the WR group in the next couple of weeks since Anderson has not worked with any of these guys - a change is less of a big deal than when Josh was QB.
  6. Why - is Anderson the answer? If JA does not play - it does not matter who is at QB. The options are limited and sometimes you have to play guys like Thad Lewis or Peterman. I quite frankly do not care who plays QB if it is not Allen - neither are long term answers and neither are winners -so quite frankly just trot someone out and get the game over with.
  7. Watch and hope for the best. Why do I care if it is Peterman or Anderson out there playing - neither are the future and neither are there to take the job. They are filling in until JA is ready again. I do not understand why people act like Peterman is some kind of McDermont project. He played best in the preseason and as soon as it was obvious none of it transferred - McDermont benched him. It is not like there is some huge upgrade sitting out there waiting to go in. I think they know what they have and between Peterman and Anderson both are just JAGs - so I really do not care if either one plays.
  8. They threw on first down twice on the first drive alone and at least 5 times throughout the game. Not a ton probably 35% of the time or so they throw on first down, but way more than once.
  9. I have never heard him say this, but to me the reality is that he does it because it greatly increases his balance and ability to cut. Physics being what it is by moving both hand away from his body - it allows him to slow sideways motion and come to a stop quicker and begin moving the other direction faster and with less stress and energy. I don’t think myself it is to misdirect defenders only because he almost always holds it like that in his right hand whether cutting to his left or right and if he was cutting right and it drew defenders toward the ball - it would draw them into his cutback. I do agree that it does probably draw the defenders eye and maybe gives them something to think about allowing him a second to get back to full speed and get away. You also only see it when he is in the open field as he typically gets it tucked away well before the defenders get to him. Overall - I think Shady is just a very right hand dominant player as he rarely switches hands or tucks it on the left even when running toward the left sideline when RBs are taught to tuck closer to the sideline in case of a fumble. He almost always holds and tucks right handed and getting the arms away from the body helps with balance and agility his 2 best attributes. I will say it has to drive coaches insane that at this level he is that freewheeling with the ball, but it works so you let it go, but aggggghhhhhh!
  10. I agree - I would not mind seeing him make his way back to this squad. I would love to see a KB trade and a re-signing of Reilly or Streeter - potentially a small drop off with some Reps already in hand.
  11. Maybe they talked to Anderson after the trade with Oakland and maybe he wanted to wait - see if a contender needed help or maybe he thought he was done and did not want playing time. The point is we do not know why, but as I see all of the other moves this FO makes - I will assume they had reached out and something at that time point was not right for either the team or the player. Since the Bills looked at several FA QB’s during the last week of preseason and weeks 1 and 2 of the regular season - my guess is they wanted some additional help in the QB room and were just waiting for Anderson (or others) to decide the time was right. I feel this even more with how the news leaked - Mort works with a lot of agents - so my guess is the report came to Mort from Anderson’s agent in a last ditch effort to see if any potential SB teams needed his services first. The Bills have been locked down pretty tight and leaking that Sunday morning before the game does not seem like how this new FO works - hence the agent probably leaking and the only reason the agent would leak was to try to drum up additional business.
  12. Simple - because Hughes is athletic enough to do a zone Blitz concept to force an offense to scheme to block one way and then bring the pressure opposite or drop extra into coverage confusing the QB. The issue was not Hughes dropping into coverage- it was Dareus and Mario dropping into coverage because they are not athletic enough if the pressure does not get home. Even then teams utilize the zone blitz scheme and drop unexpected guys into coverage all the time - you need actual pressure to make it work though. Under Rex the Bills got little pressure and therefore the zone Blitz packages are less effective.
  13. And how long does it take for a QB and WR to be on the same page. Route Running is not just here is the route - Go. It is site adjustments, blitz recognition, variable routes depending on coverage. We saw it with TT - it takes several weeks for these guys to even get comfortable and for the QB to see his speed and how to lead them. WR is one of the more complex positions because you need to be in sync with the QB and it does not surprise me they have not just switched out the entire WR Corp. My guess is they are hoping for them to come together and you see them working out WRs weekly - they will begin to make small changes as the year goes along when they feel the bad play outplays the potential chemistry. I know we all want quick fixes, but many of these guys get picked up and dropped week after week and guys like Coleman got picked up, cut, NE practice Squad, and cut and is free, but people wanted the Bills to keep him.
  14. They have brought him in more than once - probably to discuss options. If they keep 3 QBs through this week (which is not a given as they have cut guys on both Friday and Saturday already this year) they may have a plan to cut Peterman and put Jones on the PS and want to confirm he will do that before making the move.
  15. We may know, after year 2 - some guys like Brees showed flashes, but did not bloom until later. Mitch Turbisky has shown flashes here in year two, but it may take him another year to actually show whether it will be a success. Some people are anointing Mahomes already with only a quarter of season 2 in the books just like they did with Jimmy Grappalo at the end of last year and Watson after his start last year. The jury is still out on all 3 of these guys until they do it longer. There is already talk in LA about drafting a QB to replace Goff because they feel it is the best way to keep talent and get draft picks back. If they decide to move on after next year to save cap space is he a success?
  16. So what is a reach at the draft. An early first round pick that was in the mix to go #1 overall? A guy taken 3rd, 7th, 10th, 32nd, 2nd round, 3rd round. Every QB drafted this year needs work and are reaches for different reasons. All of them struggled and only 1 started the season as a starter. Again you can troll all you want, but JA is no more of a reach than any of the other QBs drafted - they all need work and we will know if 3-4 years if any or all of these guys will work out.
  17. So although this is just another troll thread (great just what we needed) - I will say since every QB drafted since the beginning has not played in the NFL - all QBs are projects and so any that you consider successful by whatever measure you would like fits the answer. In realistic terms - the QB that just became the all time leading passer was a 2nd round project. The guy in third Farve was a 2nd round project. There are a bunch of Super Bowl winners and Hall of Famers that were 6th round or later and several UDFA’s including guys that were bagging groceries. Therefore if your question is really about project QB’s - there are a ton of very, ultra successful projects. If you really mean that JA sucks and this FO should be gone which seems to be your current mission - I saw wait and give it time because many QBs get better after 4 games.
  18. Yes, but the Titans also have the number one Red Zone defense and their job is to try and stop the Bills. Good teams come away with 10-14, but sometimes good teams like GB miss a bunch of FGs and lose. The Bills went for the end zone with Zay and he was well covered and Josh put it in a place that could not be picked off. The facts remain the Bills came away with enough points to win the game - their objective. The last drive may have been different if Tennessee had scored a TD, but they did not and the Bills only needed a FG on the last drive to win. They also wanted to make sure that Tennessee used Timeouts and had no time for a comeback - both missions accomplished. We actually beat the TD percentage that Tennessee has been playing and our defense held them to 0% TDs in the red zone - so another positive.
  19. I agree with why have KB go deep, but I believe that the best way to try and make a trick play work is with your standard offensive players. If they had had put in Foster and taken KB out - it screams deep pass/trick play on the opening offensive series. I think they thought if they could get a bite and have KB deep 1-1 or behind people maybe they get a big play and get him involved early, but he is just to slow and it did not fool anyone. Would be nice if it was Zay or even Ray Ray running that route, but again the idea was to look as much like a run as possible and that leaves KB free to try and get deep.
  20. They threw multiple screen passes. One was to shady that was immediately blown up and Allen had to throw it in the dirt. They threw a WR screen to Ray Ray on the final drive. They hit Shady rolling out of the backfield a few times - not a full wheel route, but the same concept. You are correct they can not count on the running game every week, but they are running a variety of plays and throws. This is the exact type of game plan I would expect - easy throws- lots of runs - roll outs and sideline throws. It would be nice if his WRs and TEs helped him out a bit more. I get it they are not world beaters, but the throws are there and you get KB or Clay dropping them or Holmes not making a play and letting the ball get picked off.
  21. I agree - he even looked back like he thought the throw was gone. Still could of got roughing, but it sure looked more like he had him at the end of the pump fake and then let him go.
  22. I think it was autocorrect - if you misspell Ryan Lewis the device will autocorrect to Phillip Gaines almost every time. Simple mistake - LOL ? We see it with posters on here where autocorrect changes the correct player they should be referring to - sometimes it also tries to fix their spelling and makes the grammar of the sentence go way off - and on some occasions I think autocorrect actually rewrites their entire post into complete nonsense because I can not believe a rational person could have as hot of a take as we see - pretty sure it is all autocorrect. Sarcasm Off In reality - writers at all levels are lazy and editing is very poor - go to any sports, news, or entertainment site and read a few articles and they are littered with mistakes - misspelled words, incorrect words, grammatical errors, and my personal demon that I despise most: entire sections repeated because they used copy and paste to move something, but did not cut it from later. It gets worse as the devices think more for us.
