I believe the origin of this nickname comes from Beane's family history of sailing ships. "Steady as she goes" was the oft heard phrase on journeys across the sea to whoever was steering the ship. Peterman in a way is steering the metaphorical ship of the Bill's offense. The "Eddie" part is just to make it rhyme. Hope this helps OP.

I agree with you, but Mack's cost controlled 5th year didn't result in any playtime with the raiders in this case. It did result in a big return tradewise though.

I don't think the spot is as black-and-white as most fans think as far as winning that challenge. It's hard to tell when the foot might have touched out of bounds or the knee hit the ground. I think they got a crappy spot, but I'm biased. I wouldn't call it indisputable. Also, why bother using a challenge in preseason? I know they keep score but as a coach you're not really trying to win in preseason, it's primarily about evaluation for the coaches (and avoiding injuries).

Clay and Croom to me are the locks. O'Leary has been a nice story but I think his status will come down to whether the coaches want the steady hand or potential (Thomas/Lee). Also, I don't think it's been mentioned, but did you know O'Leary plays without gloves?
