  1. @Gugny@SinceThe70s Well good start so far. I think the Mets might have the best opening day record all-time? It's the rest of the year lol. Do you guys do the Apple TV? Someone at work was telling me about it yesterday. I don't have it presently. Don't know the deal with it. Are most Mets games being shown on it this year?
  2. Yeah like the Edert kid from St Pete’s. North Carolina seemed to put forth the perfect game plan to shut him down. If he thinks he’s gonna all of a sudden be a star in a major program I think he may be kidding himself. Granted I don’t really have a college team I like or got into that whole scene. But if I were to watch it games like St Peters vs Monmouth on a local basis interest me more than Duke vs UNC. Thats just me though 😅
  3. From a local standpoint it was a very intriguing story. I usually don’t watch college hoops all that much on a broader scale. But it seems the team is all but breaking up. Holloway took a coaching job with Seton Hall and 3 other players are transferring https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/33676088/saint-peter-star-trio-daryl-banks-matthew-lee-doug-edert-enter-transfer-portal?platform=amp I mean I get it. Holloway went to Seton Hall and that’s probably his dream coaching job. The other three players can get bigger name recognition and don’t want to adapt to a new coach. But I mean the grass isn’t always greener per say. Why not build a foundation for that program going forward? Holloway coulda been king at St. Peter’s over time. Since there’s a lot of college hoops fans on the board be interested to hear thoughts.
  4. Since it’s rather clear how the OP feels, funniest post I’ve seen here all year and possibly beyond.
  5. There's no place like home
  6. Same here. I do enjoy the occasional drive into Staten Island. Some good parks there with some beautiful views that are underrated imo. I've driven into Brooklyn for the Botanical Gardens and Brooklyn Museum not that long ago. But yeah Manhattan itself I haven't been to before the pandemic. The last time was maybe 4 years ago I went to the Museum of Natural History. Too many people to take it and enjoy it. Plus it being a pain to get there despite it being relatively close.
  7. Yeah what makes it a classic for me is the NYC filming locations right before the city kinda has the gentrified feel today. Imo. Also right before the cell phone era as well
  8. Yes. First NFL game I recall was Super Bowl 25. So the Bills have been in my DNA since love it or curse it. My teenage years to early 20s though I didn't really pay attention too much. Probably would have if the team was stronger but that was the Bledsoe/Loesman/Van Pelt days. A combination of what I was going through at the time as well. I think once I started working full time I got into Buffalo again. 2007ish.
  9. Poor guy. That’s sad Die Hard With A Vengeance still remains of my favorites
  10. My thoughts exactly at first, stage job. But Smith seemed pretty emotional about it all. Regardless there’s that saying no publicity is bad publicity. I mean this is the most popular thread on Off The Wall. If that punch doesn’t happen it’s unlikely any other members care enough about it to start a thread here
  11. I still remember vividly his last game against the Dolphins his rookie year in which I thought he gave his best performance that year. Even when he threw a pick 6 he went after the Miami player to tackle him and try to go for the ball. At that point I still wasn't sold on him per say but I saw enough from him to think he wasn't gonna be a bust.
  12. This thread actually made me recall the McCarron controversy that summer in 18'. I read this and I tried to remember if Josh was projected to start right away. The McCarron trade at the time from the Bills didn't make a lot of sense to me. You know he seemed like an ideal bridge QB until Josh was ready. Funny how things in general that seem like a big deal at the time are forgotten about 4 years later!
  13. Im perhaps not the best judge of this but I never understood why at the very least #17 got some consideration to be a retired number.
  14. I tried initially but the work/school load crushed me. As I said immaturity was involved as I’d have probably been better off at community college or working a year or two first. Is what it is. I can’t change the past. But hey I thought maybe it might be more common than I thought
  15. Commuted to Rutgers locally. I have never particularly had school pride and still don't. The year I finished was the year they made their first bowl game in football. They were always pretty bad. But even now I still never got into them. All I do is get aggravated about how they use taxpayer money. https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/2021/09/10/how-rutgers-athletics-debt-uncovered-north-jersey/8259666002/
  16. I'm gonna guess the answer is probably no but I'll ask the question anyway. For me I did not. A combination of commuting to college, large University, immaturity, social anxiety, and course load. But maybe I'll be surprised what stories people come up with here.
  17. Solid guy/seasoned quarterback. It's a good pick up. Heaven forbid he should have to start his only seemingly weakness is his arm isn't very strong.
  18. Idk about NY State but this thread to me demonstrates the lack of group homes/support services for people like this. Someone disabled or what not but not old enough for senior care. There I say it if I lived in NY State I’d rather my tax money go to group homes versus an 850 million dollar stadium
  19. So someone alerted me to this story about someone I grew up with. We were friends in grammar school. That was until he stole money that was in my room. He apologized but it was the never the same. Haven’t heard from him in years until someone alerted me about this story https://nypost.com/2021/10/11/married-nyc-businessman-secretly-recorded-live-in-assistant-in-bathroom-lawsuit-claims/amp/ Seems he stepped his mischievous times 10. And not in a good way. To be fair I haven’t had any contact with him in many many years so I don’t know all the ins and outs of this story. But I guess it makes me wonder how much people change from when they’re kids?
  20. Answering the original question, I guess the LGBTQ community sees that more as the political party that will advance and fight for gay rights. I think it's pretty ironic many in that community love Obama when Gary Johnson the libertarian presidential candidate in 2012 & 2016 had their back before he did. https://reason.com/2012/05/10/gary-johnson-on-obamas-gay-marriage-rema/ It's one of many reasons we need more than two main political parties in this country IMO
  21. Well if anyone's interested and or bored I thought this was an interesting way to kill some time. Some Bills quizzes on this site. https://www.sporcle.com/games/BooYAH/nfl---top-50-bills-of-all-time?t=buffalobills This one asks to name the Top 50 Bills all time. I'm guessing the quiz was put together around 2016-2019 ish. You get the years played and position of the player on the side. I only got 17/50. I'll admit some of the names I wasn't familiar with of players before my time. If I had more time I might have gotten more. I kept spelling #51's last name wrong. I thought this was another interesting one, name all starting QB's of a game since 1999. I know I know unpleasant memories there. But I like not forgetting where the team came from https://www.sporcle.com/games/UncleBucko/billsqbs?t=buffalobills if you do play it you just have to type in the last name of the player
  22. The title made me think of this
  23. Uggh yeah I guess hope is a part of it. It's funny though you know Buffalo hockey I was never I fan of it but I found myself following it a little more than normal this year. A combination of not much else going on and I feel I na weird way it's sort of it in my genes to root for a Buffalo team trying to break out of a playoff drought. I still recall vividly that Bills game the year of the Stevie drop. 0-8, then won the next two and were showing signs of life. I looked forward to that game all week and I still don't forget how disappointed I was that day!
  24. I seem to get more and more disinterested but Buck being the manager now did grab my eyeballs. Since you have a son interested in baseball, do you know how popular it is with todays youth? I kinda recall even when I graduated high school 20 years ago Lacrosse was becoming the more popular sport.
