Another Fan

The Fitz love nowadays sometimes seems a little weird to me. I know he's a very likeable guy and seems to have fully embraced being a Bills fan in his retired life. But after he got that contract extension in 2011 he played average at best. His stats in 2012 only look respectable because a fair amount of those TD's came in garbage time situations. And if he had a solid game he would ruin it a fair amount of times by throwing a dumb INT late. The 2012 Titans game for example. Speaking of 2012 this was the season as a Bills fan I felt the team had the most disappointing season of my life at least in terms of not meeting pre-season expectations. The 2021 playoff loss to the Chiefs wasn't that horrible for me to digest because prior to the game my gut said the Bills would lose a close game.

Being how popular this thread is with a Hot on it the last hour, perhaps its my unpopular opinion now many fans think a lot of stuff they are afraid to post on here for fear of being ganged up on by the majority.

Me understands Josh could use more help with the O-Line, RB situation, and at times WR's but sometimes it seems he's above any kind of critiquing of his play. All one would have to do is watch Kurt Warner's Study Ball of The Bengals playoff game to show sometimes Josh doesn't read the field the best at times. I realize you can't compare Josh to any of the Bills QB's of the last 20 years but that fumble at the goal line against the Vikings was brutal. If that was any other Bills QB of the last 20 years including Fitz that lost the game like that that would have gotten very very ugly for their sake. Now I realize Josh puts a lot of pressure on himself to be the best and is conscientious of his play.... but at the same time he is being compensated to be an elite QB in this league. So no I have no qualms criticizing/critiquing his play when necessary

I mean in baseball all I really look at is batting average, rbi, home runs, and on base and fielding percentage. It gives me a good but not complete idea. Football seem thing more or less. Basic statistics on players to have an idea Stuff like quoting WAR in baseball and PFF in football strikes me as people that love the smell of their own fart types. I mean not all but some people that use that extreme analytics as the end all be all. Wasn’t Josh Allen like the lowest rated QB on PFF at one time? Or something like that

He was a bit before my time to really appreciate his game but I’d lean toward yes. Or in the top 5 at least. I know his 3 point percentage wasn’t the best per say but that was before the 3 point shot became as specialized as it is in todays league. Plus there’s no teams today like the bad boy Detroit Pistons teams that would have shut the 3 point shooters down by um any way possible

Much less hype presently. On March 16, 2022 the Bills signed Von Miller which is almost a year ago today. I would say from that point up until the Bengals game the team was extremely hyped on these boards. Even after the Dolphins first round game I still thought the consensus on the boards was ah well we are the best team and it's good we got our clunker game out of the way early on in the playoffs. A lot different vibes here now.

I wouldn't argue with anyone that thinks Josh isn't a top 3 QB in the league. But that was just a STUPID move on Cole Slaw's part

I have a bad case of the Sunday Night Blues tonight and was in a sentimental mood. So I glanced at Jean Paul Muller's channel on YouTube if there were any old Bills games worth scrolling through. His Youtube channel is easily the best for Bills games from the 1980s to 2000s. That's when I came across this one below. Jets vs Bills from 1990. No pun intended I figured just based on the year 1990 the Bills would have won this game something like 51-3. But it's a very good underrated one. Enough for me to want to start a thread on it. While I don't claim to be an official Buffalo Bills games guru I thought I had heard of or read about most exciting nail biter games since the late 1980s. This one I dont recall hearing or reading about anywhere. Some Jim Kelly magic in the last 2 minutes

@SinceThe70s The 90s is when I started following baseball so I always think of Franco as Mr Met. For better or worse But his best years were really with the Reds. He probably deserves to be in their Hall Of Fame.

Well I mean Gooden was good from like 1984-1991 but after that he wasn't really the same pitcher and well he had all his other troubles. Ron Darling had good years with the Mets as well. From 1984 to 1989 but he kinda leveled off after that. Also, he was never really strong in big games. 1986 Game 7 against the Red Sox, 1988 game 7 against the Dodgers. Rick seemed to have a pretty steady decent career after he left the Mets. I mean not bad at all for a guy that seemed more the quiet afterthought of the 86-88 rotation

Then I’m thinking didn’t the Mets have a pitcher with that same last name? So yeah it refreshed my memory Rick Aguilera was the one that almost lost Game 6 against Boston. But then I looked at his post Mets career and he actually did pretty well. Won a World Series with the Twins and was an all star closer. While the Mets didn’t trade Nolan Ryan by letting him go, I’d say that was one of the more underrated bad trades of the organization. Him for Viola. Outside of Cone, I’d actually say he had the best career of any of the 80s Mets pitchers. Thoughts?

Even before that brief period they had some success there was a group I think called Rutgers 900 dedicated to trying to get Rutgers out of the Big East to focus more on academics. Their point being their real competition lied with the likes of Princeton, Lafayette, Penn, etc.... I mean I am not an academic, will and can never be an academic, and think that professor in that article I posted lives exclusively in his ivory tower. Yet from me a common humble man's perspective is it makes no sense what Rutgers top historically push their football program into something it isn't. There's might be worse programs but I have a feeling they dont have the shady undertones to them

I'll start of by writing I went too school there and didn't have the best experience. So perhaps there's some sour grapes. The school initially actually won the first college football game ever against Princeton. And I think they won the 1st national championship as well. But since then it's been bad. The school decided to compete in the Big East at some point where they were more often than not overmatched in the 20th century. In 2001 there there was a big push to be competitive in the Big East. Greg Schiano got hired. He struggled his first few years. And now all of a sudden the big push to join the Big 10 were the team is the laughing stock of the league. To make matters imo worse they are not even likeable and I dont want to root for them. While I agree with most that the cutting down the season is my biggest pet peeve. The season is just to damn long After the Mets lost I just with every fiber of my being cared less after that point. And this is not a jaded Mets fan talking…. the 2001 World Series Yankees/Diamondbacks was my favorite one to watch in my lifetime

I was watching an old Mets/Yankees game from 2003 and I was surprised too learn Todd Zeile was a Yankee at one point. I have no memory of that at all. I associate him more as a Met as he does some SNY broadcasts. But I think sports like life time will usually point somewhere to where they will naturally be even if they swift off the curve. Ryan Fitzpatrick I definitely think of as a Buffalo Bill. Even though he was a Dolphin and Jet. And that one year with the Texans he I'm paraphrasing in the huddle said he wanted nothing more badly in his life to beat Buffalo. Ditto for Rex Ryan. I defiantly think of him more as a NY Jet. even though the time he beat the Jets as a Bill coach that night game in 2015 he was celebrating like a hyena on the sidelines.
