  1. I would have held onto Verlander but am all right with the other moves. Tbh though I know nothing about the prospects to have an opinion on them. Cohen initially said he would take 3-5 years to make the team into a winner. These last moves tell me he’s throwing in the towel for this year and well next year. If he wants to start a more youth centered movement I’m okay with that. But have the balls to tell that to the fanbase. With The Wilpons I at least know where they were coming from even if I wasn’t a fan. Same deal with Yankee fans with George. He was out in the open with his feelings. Anywho that’s the angle I was coming from with not trusting him quote
  2. @Gugny The scene where Horowitz is repairing the stereo
  3. Horowitz you're talking about? The only other movie I recall him being in was Author! Author! when he was a kid with Al Pacino. He played I think Al's son in the movie. Was an okay movie. I think its largely unknown outside of Pacino fans. But yeah that Horowitz character is definitely a very memorable one to me. While I have zero chance of ever crossing his path in business, I can see myself going all Chris Farley on him on a conference call. You remember when all the prison guards had to detain you? 😅
  4. @ExWNYer @Gugny @SinceThe70s Wow. Just an epic suck job by this team. Getting swept by one of the record wise worst teams in major league history. In this order walk off balk, 4-0, and 9-2. I know we have an owner now willing to spend moolah and eat it if necessary but I've lost all faith in him for the time being.
  5. Who says you have to be Taylor Swift or even Josh Allen in the entertainment or sports world to have an interesting story? These two for me: Sean Rooney- was a state champ basketball player under Bob Hurley at St Anthony’s. But he’s more known or semi known to the world as Bettlejuices manager from the Howard Stern show. He was the guy that discovered him. Too bad he died in jail 😢 Eric Gurry- was Mighty Mouse or Horowitz in the old Sean Penn movie Bad Boys. But today he is a venture capitalist with an Ivy League education. I still wouldn’t be able to look at without thinking of that radio package that blew off Vikings ear or that big blonde guy in that movie
  6. When Andy was in college he had a show called Uncle Andy’s Funhouse or Playhouse. Can’t remember but he did think of Andy as an influence RIP
  7. Bernie Kosar Over 2 decades removed from the rivalry has made me appreciate Dan Marino more as well
  8. I think there’s a chance Verlander gets traded to the Reds if they are willing to pick up his contract. Makes all the sense in the world for them since their fighting for the division and have overachieved https://blogredmachine.com/posts/reds-rumors-rival-executive-sleeper-team-ny-mets-justin-verlander Your bit about Colon made me think of Rich Garces. Growing up I thought they looked exactly alike and would even get them confused. Seems Rich is involved with the Connecticut Mets. I’m not sure if they have any affiliation with the NY team at all https://ctmetsbaseball.com/about-us/
  9. 1990s. Economy was strong and the US had no government debt by the end of it compared to today. A good time for movies, music, and sports in general. Society wasn’t as PC back then and or as glued into technology.
  10. Either if it’s at where you work or with a loved one you might be looking after or caring for. I work in a senior care facility. As a business office assistant but am involved in several aspects of administration. Not work for everyone
  11. Matt Stevens. He made a key play in the Bills win in 1996 against the Eagles deflecting a pass late to Irving Fryer. That game is an underrated Bills classic. The last time I believe the team won a game in Philly
  12. I wouldn't say I was a fan but I was always appreciative of the post office. One of my first memories in life was taking a tour of a post office in pre school. The neighborhood I grew up the mailman Joe was like a neighborhood fixture everyone loved. Everyone knew him and he could always make you laugh or what not. But he retired years back. Fast forward to modern day when more and more messages get delivered via other means. That and I was surprised myself at how antiquated I found the USPS.com website. It felt like the technology and speed of the website was from the late 90s. That and well even buying stamps at a post office has a sort of dated feeling to it to me. I mean ideally I wouldn't want that day to come but I can see it.
  13. @ExWNYer @Gugny @SinceThe70s Good content as usual. I'm pretty checked out from this year though. I had not heard his name in a while https://nypost.com/2023/07/20/mariners-jarred-kelenic-breaks-foot-kicking-water-cooler/ That trade may not go down as horribly over time.
  14. Paul Posluszny I recall at NY Times article about him that showed he knew how to handle his money playing football https://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/05/your-money/05wealth.html That and still one of the last Polish American Bills players I recall
  15. Naaman Roosevelt- I recall a real nice 60 yard touchdown against the Giants in 2011 he had. And after that play I haven’t heard or can’t remember anything else about him. I do remember his last name but admittedly had to Google his first name thinking of him
  16. Donald Jones- he had some pretty sick catches against the Patriots in his brief time with the team. Enough so Belichick and the Patriots signed him briefly before he retired. One of the most underrated plays/throws in recent Bills history imo is Fitz to Donald Jones for about 30 yards week 3 in 2011 to set up Freddie's near touchdown. I couldn't resist Dan Carpenter as well. Guy was a money kicker in 2013 & 2014 I think. Then the year Rex was hired it all went downhill for him. It seemed even trying to kick extra points was an adventure for him. His frustration here at missing one 🤣
  17. From my experience Central to North Jersey and NYC are the most aggressive drivers in the country. even Philly drivers aren’t as bad
  18. Rocky Balboas wedding. Only like 10 people there and life went along afterwards for all there. And Rocky don’t use condominiums. Lol While it’s a movie I take it this wasn’t uncommon in the 70s and 80s?
  19. Just doing the math assuming one of these kids has like 5-10 friends close enough they’d care to do that for…. That is about 2 months of the year spent on this crap. Lol
  20. I’m in my late 30s…. That post made me feel better about being a misanthrope
  21. It’s a great song and one I feel a lot. But I have a memory of a video of Bills fans randomly dunking opposing teams fans with a playground basketball set up. This song was in the background. Im not a fan of Bills mafia antics but I thought that video was funny. Was like 2014ish. The song just added to the greatness of that video
  22. I never heard of her until watching this film recently. Many Nina Simone references in it
