  1. Everyone knows it takes 10 days of practice to turn a raw rookie into a Pro Bowl lineman.
  2. Thanks a million. One question: you seem to mention Easley quite a bit. Was he getting a lot of work? And how did he look toyou?
  3. Do we even know if being out of shape is the reason he failed his test? It wasn't that long ago that the point of camp was to get in shape. Not letting an out of shape player work his way into shape by training is like telling a fat guy he can't go on a diet until he knocks off a few pounds. It makes no sense.
  4. There is a certain type of fan who seems to believe there is an orchard which has a Quarterback Tree, and when you need one, why you just go pick one off the limb. And this certain type of fan then feels free to excoriate management, coaches, anyone and everyone if that fresh-picked QB isn't "The One." Your assessment is exactly correct, the Bills needed a QB and EJ was the best of the available bunch. And the Bills FO was very upfront about how he projected, clearly stating that he had a ton of talent but needed a ton of work. There was no intent to start him until the middle of the season at the very earliest, and probably not for a season or two. You know, the way it used to be done in the NFL. So, a still-not-quite-ready QB was forced into action, with predictable results. What I'd ask the nay-sayers to do is to stop viewing EJ as a completed project who hasn't lived up to expectations and should thus be jettisoned. Instead think of him as a work in progress who, because of Kolb's injuries, is actually ahead of the projected learning curve. And for the upcoming season, look for a good bit of progress but still with much room for improvement. And if he regresses, the Bills can always go out to the orchard and pick another QB off the tree.
  5. Thanks for the link. It is a good one.
  6. You guys are great. Plus I seem to get more info from you than the "pro writers." You hit what the fan wants to know.
  7. Very fair analysis. I might disagree with your implication that the Bills FO only got into winning mode with Ralph's death. I believe that began with Brandon's taking over as GM & bringing in Nix. I think they had a clear plan in place & it is now coming to fruition. If there are no more serious injuries & if EJ progresses as all hope - two really big ifs,I know - I expect a very successful season that includes winning the division.
  8. Schwartz started off with Robey down the depth chart, but by the break he had him back with the starters. More important, he was raving about him.
  9. Your original comment suggesting Gundlach was suddenly jumping in with 3 weeks to go clearly shows you were basing that on the WSJ article. As to the current update, consider the source. If Graham is as reliable on investment fund evaluations and Gundlach's personal wealth as he is on the Bills, well, ...
  10. The article is from May 2011 WSJ, so if Gundlach has remained serious about the Bills, he's had 3 years to get his ducks in a row. And knowing a bit about his business sense, it would be the height of foolishness to ever discount him.
  11. Yeah, that's why we continue to live here, because it's so awful.
  12. Where does Golisano live? How about Pegula? You do know Gundlach is a Buffalo guy, right?
  13. Kiko's game and value are all about quickness and speed. The Kiko who will return next year won't be the Kiko of 2013. Think of the very dfferent Merriman that emerged from surgery. I wish him the best but I think he's done, at least as the Kiko we know.
  14. That's impossible...only Bills receivers drop passes. Ask around this board if you don't believe me.
  15. Just wondering because I really don't know, what are some of Olbermann' s radical views?
  16. I'm with you on Mariota...
  17. My oldest grandchild was born 2 years before Sammy. Now that's scary...to me.
  18. The NFL spends so much time slobbering over Vince Lombardi & almost never mentions Noll, who was one of the greatest head coaches ever. RIP, Chuck.
  19. The characteristic about Robey that gets mentioned over and over is that he rarely if ever makes the same mistake twice. For those who are all set to jettison him (and what's up with that?), let me remind you that last season would have been his senior year. He's very young; my assumption is that he's only going to get better, maybe a lot better, this season.
  20. Best part pf the original deal for Sterling was that he bought the team for about $12 million with no cash. He assumed debts & obligations instead. And that was right when Byrd & Magic were turning the NBA into the money machine it now is. BTW, I believe that $2 billion sale price has little to do with the team being in LA & more to do with the relative rarity of a franchise in a major sport and guys with huge amounts of money looking for an exotic toy & something to lord over their peers. Which is why I'm concerned that there are a few more guys like Ballmer to whom money is no object and who would love to own an NFL franchise bidding up the price.
  21. Dogs playing cards more your speed? BTW, the Sisley was one of the art works stolen by the Nazis. Anyone know is RW donated any works to the Albright?
  22. AW, Woods, Gilmore have already made the leap. And I believe a couple of rookies will breakout. But my personal choice for "leaper of the year" from among players who have been with the Bills at least a year is Duke Williams. And I feel EJ is going to have a great year.
  23. Who is this guy Darues & why should we care about him?
  24. This is the real essence of the situation, & why I've gone from confident the Bills would remain in WNY to very concerned, in the wake of the Clippers sale.
