  1. I'd be PO-ed if whomever they took the Bills then proclaim they are converting that player to another position.
  2. Um, in case this is your first draft season, you do not give up picks when you trade down, you GAIN picks. And with a #9 flipping with a pick in the 20s, you should be able to pick up at least a 2nd round pick THIS YEAR, and maybe another one for next year if your trading partner is desperate enough to move up to 9.
  3. And when exactly was he convicted of rape? Or even charged with it?
  4. That's kind of my point, that these guys APPEAR to stand around waiting for the coach to say, "You're the starter." They APPEAR not to have any fire in the belly. It's as though none of them really believe in their hearts that they're number 1. For example, if Edwards truly believes he's the best on the roster, then he should be acting like that. You don't wait to be appointed "team leader;" you seize the role. That's what leaders do. And, no, I don't know if any of those 3 guys have reached out to Lynch. But nothing in their individual demeanor suggests the thought would ever cross their mind. "Ees not my yob." They all seem as disengaged from the role of team leader as Rob Johnson did.
  5. Here are a few other big bruiser backs: John Riggins, Jim Brown, Larry Czonka, Christian Okoye, Earl Campbell, Cookie Gilchrist, Mike Alstott. There are surely many more that just haven't popped into my head. BTW, Lynch is the Bills bruiser, and if his situation isn't resolved to Nixley's satisfaction, I believe the Bills will draft a roadgrader back later in the draft. I'd be happy if that guy was Gerhardt.
  6. Problem is apparently, that he can't stay on the field and "take(s) up to 2 blockers on every play." He sat out approximately half the plays in college. The guy's a fat slob who I believe will balloon back up to around 400 pounds once he's drafted.
  7. Maybe one of those three guys will turn out to be a tremendous QB. But what's really bothersome to me is their apparent lack of fire, their laid-back personalities, their "whatever" attitude. I am thinking specifically about the Marshawn Lynch situation and maybe Schobel to a lesser extent. If you're the QB, you are the team leader (or should be). So get on those two guys. Call them, or jump on a plane, whatever. Convince them to play, or at least to show up. Call Lynch out. Get in his face. Show some freakin' leadership. Does anyone think for one second that Jim Kelly would be missing-in-action on Lynch? He sure wasn't on Thurman. And on the rest of the team. And his house was party-central after the games, with not only all the players there, but their moms and dads as well. Kelly saw the Bills as his team, and his attitude had as much to do with their success as did his talent. So far, these three guys are like Freddie Prinze on "Chico and the Man": "Ees not my yob." I may be misreading them, but to me they seem like mid-level employees at some giant global corporation, faceless guys who punch in and punch day after day without leaving a trace. Bland and ball-less.
  8. No matter who the Bills draft at #9, there are going to be at least some people who hate the choice. So what I'd like to know is who are the two or three (or more) players you think would really drive Bills fans off the deep end if they're the Bills #9 pick?
  9. I meant to add "in the later rounds."
  10. Nix has publicly said that Bell is a good LT, which I translate as "good enough for this year if something better isn't available at #9." Which there might not be. So if the team doesn't like the LT's available at #9, I won't be surprised if they go with another position, even a DB or RB. Could be interesting.
  11. True enough. Now name three excellent QBs in this draft.
  12. Other than a handful of players -- McGahee for example -- most Bills seem to really like it in Buffalo, if their remarks are a true indication. And the fact that so many players remain in the area after their careers are over is about the best recommendation there is. Our FA signings this off season all mentioned the glowing praise former Bills gave the town and the fans in particular as important to their decisions to sign with the Bills. Ruben Brown kept his home in Buffalo all the years he was playing elsewhere. Eric Moulds still lives in the area. Andre, Kelly, Thurman, Talley, et al are passionate about the Bills, the fans and the town. Heck, there are Bills from the early 60s still living in Buffalo. A friend of mine, a pretty well-known guy from San Francisco who's been to Buffalo a number of times, once said that "The cool thing about Buffalo is that it's big enough to have all the things you want in a city, and small enough that you feel like your part in it matters."
  13. I'm with you. Plus the decision to add more scouts going forward.
  14. It didn't cut it then either. I never understood why the Bills stuck with him.
  15. You're right about the sequence. I've long thought one of the more interesting things about TT's talent was that he kept Barry freakin' Sanders on the bench. Now that's something.
  16. You have to ask yourself, Why would the Ravens trade away Gaither after two years if he's so good? Also, according to the only thing I've read about the situation is that he has a poor work ethic and the trade rumor was a ploy by the Ravens to get his butt into the off season program.
  17. How do you know that they haven't been trying to trade for Gaither? As it turns out, they apparently made a serious run at McNabb only to have him reject the Bills.
  18. Swampscott High? Dick Jauron's alma mater? Oy vey!
  19. One of the NFL "experts" on ESPN was saying that Clausen's stock is falling and he might not be taken until the second round. On another front, Gailey's face lit up like Times Square on New Year's Eve when a reporter asked him about Tebow. http://www.buffalobills.com/media-lounge/v...8e-6f8029559c3e
  20. Thanks for the chuckle.
