  1. This is still conjecture. You don't know if he was running the draft. You are assuming based on how you see the facts. You don't know what is going on in OBD or what Pegula's thinking is. You don't know why Whaley was fired. All you can say is what the media has been feeding you and all that is conjecture. Give facts and not opinions. I am not ruling out Beane as GM but I know there is more to it than McDermott being the strong voice in the building. No business man, especially one as successful as Pegula gives complete control to someone he has been employing for 3 months. There are things happening that we don't know. Most on here were convinced Anthony Lynn would be the next coach based on media and how did that turn out?
  2. If it's one thing I am sure of the names public don't include the whole list. I think it won't be limited to candidates McDerm will know. Everyone was sure that Lynn was the next coach of the Bills because he had the inside track and Whaley wanted him and he ended up in a different city. Sometimes the media doesn't have the whole story.
  3. Except Wolf interviewed for two jobs just a few months ago.... Where is the documentation? It just seems to be conjecture of what is going on. If he truly had the power why wouldn't he be in charge of the personnel department. He isn't as powerful as you think.
  4. No I honestly believe the complete football ops wipeout is a Pegula reset. If it weren't I believe McDerm would wait for the new GM especially if it was someone he trusted. I seriously doubt McDerm has been given that much power in 3 months. He might have made picks for the draft but honestly who else was going to do it?
  5. After Cyrus, Dareus and Ragland I doubt we pick from Bama for a while.
  6. Not sure I buy that. I think McDermott had a little to do with the firing but ultimately Whaley was never in line with the coaches from Marrone to Ryan to McDermott and it finally caught up with him.
  7. This is conjecture based on connecting dots. There is no inside source.
  8. I think this line of thinking is flawed. If McDermott had all the power he would be picking the GM, he has little say in it at this point.
  9. Whaley wasn't fired because of McDermott not being able to work with him so I believe that won't have much to do with who the GM is. We needed a GM that had total control of his scouting department and instilled confidence, that is why he was let go. Excellent scout but didn't command respect.
  10. Could this be to switch him to Safety since we are very light on that position? Maybe do the Corey White role from last year.
  11. Because he wants to be a GM. He has been sought after for the Colts and 49ers job but they ultimately went with someone else. Buffalo is a similar town imo to Green Bay, cold small market and rabid fanbase. I think if we offered the job to Wolf he would see the symmetry. I think Pegula has been open to the structure based on the candidates. Pegula is a business man and a successful one at that. He will do his best to get the right man. I also don't think it will be the KC guy or Panthers guy simply because they know how to work with McDerm but maybe those two would take a job like this because they know he is the head coach.
  12. There is no direct evidence but it was known he was taking over that offseason similar to Whaley having nothing to do with the picks this year. Also his ideal mold of QB is the athletic style as he has shown with Taylor and Cardale as well as Thad Lewis. Look at the QB room and that should show you all you need to know about style of QB, none could throw but all could run.
  13. I think McDermott's hiring is consistent with what they will look at from a GM. The only downside would be if the GM states he doesn't want McDerm but not sure if that will surface as an issue. McDermott looks like probably the best option out there this year. Hiring a GM with Rex still here would have been a bigger issue.
  14. Not part of hiring but be there to answer questions. Pegula hasn't been in the hiring phase of a GM, Brandon has. Pegula is making this decision because he doesn't want to spend tons of money again by having to fire someone early. Brandon has no final say like people keep thinking.
  15. I would personally like to see us go after Eliot Wolf for GM. There are some very good options with Veach from KC, Beane from Carolina and DeCosta from Baltimore but I could see Wolf as a superstar GM. First he has a wealth of talent as well as good family lines with his dad Ron, which I am sure could help in running an organization. Eliot comes from a solidly run organization that understands how to draft and develop a good consistent football team. He has also been involved in scouting players since he was 14 and watched scouting videos at the young of 10 with his dad. Who else would you want to learn player scouting from than Ron Wolf? He also doesn't freak out at press conferences...
  16. We have decent depth with Washington, Worthy and DeAndre Coleman. I personally would like good players at the LB position where we don't even have three starting LBs at the moment.
  17. We had way too many holes to properly construct a roster. If Jamal Adams had dropped I believe we would have picked him though.
  18. I think they had every intention of keeping Whaley but they probably saw the discord between Whaley and the newest coach as with Whaley in the past and decided it was too toxic to keep Whaley. Also Pegula probably realized that from McDermott that roster construction was majorly flawed. Ryan lost out temporarily but when Whaley had the same issues with McDerm Whaley had to go.
  19. The Pats always draft at the bottom of each round we draft near the top. They trade down and gain more picks, we trade up to get higher picks. They trade a lot of picks to get proven players we don't. Whaley overall may make better picks but he certainly didn't have a pulse on the team and how to construct one.
  20. I have zero respect for a franchise that has been caught getting away with cheating twice and hiding and lying about it.
  21. I hope not. Too soon after he was fired for a drinking problem. I wouldn't mind hiring him but in an advisory role only.
  22. He later said that he knew he wasn't even a consideration for the job so that's why he took his name out. After that he was in the running for the Colts job but they chose Ballard.
  23. I have wanted Eliot Wolf for a while. He is a top notch evaluator and will be running the show in Green Bay soon if no one scoops him up.
