Positives from ugly loss?
transplantbillsfan replied to berg1029's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The positive is the change at QB that today forced. I honestly am optimistic about our season still. Peterman being so awful forced this change before we fell too much in the hole. I think the play of the entire team will get better when Allen is the starter -

Great, now McBeane needs to find someone who can back him up. -

I don't think I have to. Peterman won't be on the field long enough. It's just funny that you can't admit today and last year against the Chargers were SooOOooo much worse than anything ANY other Bills QB has ever done. He was a LOT better. -

Yay. You were right about Peterman starting in week 1. I just didn't think McDermott would make the same mistake twice. I was wrong. I'm glad he autocorrects quickly from his mistakes. This team will probably lay down on the field if McDermott trots Peterman out there again. -

Strike a nerve? Taylor threw for 60 yards in that 1st half, more than double than Peterman. The team managed 4 1st downs in the 1st half, 4 times what Peterman could manage, The team actually scored in the 1st half, 7 points to the 0 points Peterman could score. It was actually STILL A GAME in the 1st half, which is much more than we could say about today. If Taylor was bad that day--which he was--isn't it fair to call Peterman's performance vomit-inducing? Stop talking. -

Anyone who had to suffer through this utterly disgraceful conversation all Summer despite knowing what should have happened. -
2018 Nathan Peterman = 2013 Jeff Tuel

We watched our 2 most recent QBs get a W and a Tie today while our own QB couldn't even muster 30 yards passing or a 1st down. Remember all the whiners about Taylor? Was he ever this bad? Here's the lesson some should take from Peterman's performance: the grass is NOT always greener on the other side. -

Me too. The funny thing is that if you look at some posting before today you're going to find a bunch of Peterman homers who have recently said crap like "I never bought into the Tuel hype!" I get a lot wrong on this board. I don't really care because it's just all in good fun. But one thing I've been steadfast in going all the way back to last preseason--when Peterman was also "playing well"--was that he just isn't an NFL starter. What's frightening is that the fact that we traded McCarron. That says that McDermott was legitimately convinced he could be a viable NFL starting QB rather than that he just wanted to protect Allen to start the season. -

Right? Are people still really fighting the obviousness of this? Preseason hero. Regular season dud. The backup so many clamor for, but reality sets in once he starts. Actually, Tuel may have been better. At least he could get a 1st down. amiright? And before you accuse me of rooting against Peterman, I wasn't. The best outcome today would have been Peterman playing lights out and winning. This, I think, was the 2nd best outcome. Rip the band-aid off and end this debacle early. -

Peterman and Offense Expectations: R-E-L-A-X
transplantbillsfan replied to Jerome007's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In other words... absolutely everyone is much more anxious than excited about the 1st game of the season, including the OP who's basically anticipating a not-so-stellar performance. Wonderful -
There's a particular reason to think it mattered for Allen because he was the only one of the 3 to be announced the week before his start AND get all the reps with the 1s in practice that entire week for the game everyone uses as the dress rehearsal game. The comparison of Allen's situation in the QB competition this Summer to Jackson's and Mayfield's situation is just insane and I think you're just trolling at this point.

Love it! Feel the exact same way! Loathed the pick. Got viscerally upset. Researched and studied him. Grew to really be excited about the pick. Now I just want him to play. Anxiety fills me with Peterman starting Sunday. I'd be excited about Allen. But let him sit on the bench while the OL sorts itself out a bit. Then let him come in and take the league over

The thread for Positive Pollyannas!
transplantbillsfan replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm anxious about Sunday, but still excited overall about the season. I still seriously think McDermott finds a way to get this team into the playoffs again and we get double digit wins. I'm definitely a Positive Pollyana -
Predict Nathan Petermen's stats Game 1
transplantbillsfan replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This really isn't what I want to happen, but... I think... 21/32, 250 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs, sacked 4 times in a loss. -
Wow, this is just dumb. Duh? Duh to Allen not starting week 1? Or was that actually the sound of relief you make with close calls... after all, you didn't think Allen would start. You barely thoughthe had a shot. That's actually exactly how I felt about Peterman as OTAs began. I don't run away from thinking that. It took Peterman being lights out in preseason to make this happen. If you think that was inevitable or virtually inevitable, you're insane. Allen being on the bench certainly doesn't warrant a "duh" except for near-sighted people--apparently like yourself--who care more about predictions being right than his/her reasoning being right. You were right that Allen wouldn't start. Congratulations. All of your reasoning was off. This is clearly not a "duh" moment because it was obviously very close in spite of that 5 sack half in the 3rd preseason game. Imagine if the Bills had a remotely adequate OL in that game. McCarron was clearly traded because Allen is very close. Duh. Can't wait for the inevitable "you're so consistently wrong on QBs response from the ever-reliably predictable Thurm.
