Brandon Beane "might be the most sensitive GM in the entire NFL"?
Doc Brown replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Any Trubisky truthers at the time? You'd have to be equally critical of every other team in the league who either passed on him or didn't trade up for him unless they already had an elite QB on the roster. I was still on the old board at that point but I'll take your word for being on the Mahomes train. What really spins my head is if the Bills did select Mahomes and then fired Whaley it would be even weirder than when he was actually fired. If Beane was GM when McDermott was hired, would he have showed the same aggressiveness in getting Mahomes that he did in getting Allen? I think just moving up to draft Allen by default makes it his best year as GM here. There wasn't any other off-season that stood out to me as just a stellar job across the board. Getting a 2nd for Watkins (not popular with the fan base), a 3rd for Tyrod, and trading Glenn to move from #21 to #12 in the draft were all good moves considering McDermott just had to get the luckiest 9-7 record of all time in 2017 so we needed as much ammo as possible to trade up for a QB. No disagreement with the awfulness of the free agency draft class though. I struggle with the Edmunds pick because I loved the prospect but I hate moving up in the first round for anybody but a QB. -
Maxwell Hairston named in civil lawsuit for sexual assault
Doc Brown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
She called the police shortly after the incident and went to the hospital to take a sexual assault exam. That's all we know about it. The university left a public statement yesterday. In a statement, Dani Jaffe with University of Kentucky Public Relations reports that, following a Title IX investigation into the 2021 sexual assault, Hairston "was not found responsible for violation of university policy. The university is not a party to this lawsuit and therefore cannot comment on it. However, sexual assault allegations are thoroughly investigated and can involve police, Title IX, student conduct officials and other legal entities. If and when charges are warranted, or if a student is found to have violated our Code of Student Conduct, such charges and disciplinary measures are filed and pursued aggressively to protect our students." -

Why would you file a civil suit if the defendant didn't have any money? It's perfectly logical that if she was assaulted that any adequate restitution would have to involve the other party having what you deem worthy of adequate restitution in the form of money. I don't know any of these individuals personally so jumping to a conclusion to defend either person is foolhardy at this point. -

The NFL also invited him to the draft now that I think about it. I get what you're saying though. I don't know the extent of the Bills investigation. Were they even allowed to talk to the girl that's currently filing the suit? -

The NFL also invited him to the combine with this incident on file already so their hands aren't clean of this either. -

Dude. Beane talked about the incident at the press conference right after they drafted him. I thought at that point everyone knew about the incident. Even the casual fan. LOL. The whole league knew about it. -
My favorite torture scene of all time. RIP Madsen. Felt like his acting chops were never fully appreciated because he never found that "breakthrough" role.

It's called rooting for a team. You minimize one side and amplify yours. Biden added the most jobs in US history of any president his first three years in office. Of course that's because of the pandemic recovery. Almost every party in charge during the post Covid high inflation period lost power. The democrats never had a chance because inflation was something everyone could feel when reaching for their wallets and paying their bills.

You're a bit too harsh imo when it comes to the Mahomes trade. I don't exactly think McDermott had the Chiefs circled as a rivalry to get that final WC spot. He just took over and knew he had to rebuild the team in his image and provide a certain "culture" (as corny as it sounds) to what was a clown organization at that point. I don't blame him for getting that extra first in 2018 and want to at least attempt to build a foundation before drafting a rookie QB. Nabbing Tre White at that spot in the draft was a hit. If Mahomes was such a sure prospect he wouldn't have fallen to where he did. Common group think at the time was the 2018 QB class was going to be superior to 2017's class. Beane was luckily at his best his first year here. Getting a 2nd for Watkins. Trading Glenn to move up in the first round. Getting Allen without having to give up a 1st. Somehow trading Tyrod for the first pick in the 3rd round. He did botch the bridge QB horrifically with the infamous Peterman/McCarron preseason battle. -
McDermott not in Top 10 of NFL coaches per PFF.
Doc Brown replied to 14774's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you get a similar result next postseason where the defense shrinks against the Chiefs/Ravens/Bengals and the offense keeps it close again than I think it's time to move on from McDermott. A six year sample size is enough. You just can't keep banging your head against the wall. I'd prefer just to promote Joe Brady to head coach to hopefully keep most of the staff together. A lot can happen in a year though. However, there's this problem........... Which is why Terry would never do it so this 24 page thread is pretty much useless. -
Bills/Ravens/Eagles Super Bowl Favorites

Last year preseason odds were Chiefs, 49ers, Ravens, Lions, Eagles, Bengals, Bills in that order. -
With no taxes on tips. It's still other taxpayers subsidizing those who have a tip based job. The positives are no increase in federal taxes as the tax cuts are made permanent. More money used to secure the border too. At the expense of approximately 11 million people being kicked off Medicaid and less investment in clean energy.

Maxwell Hairston named in civil lawsuit for sexual assault
Doc Brown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
My guess is when she found out he got drafted and signed a huge contract that's when either someone contacted her or she saw a money grab opportunity. Maybe she deserves it if she really was assaulted. The four year plan thing is a bit far fetched. -
He's lying. Vietnam won't pay a penny. US companies using cheap Vietnamese labor will be the one's paying the 20% tariff thus it's passed onto the American tax payer. I don't even know if he realizes that. If he does that's not a lot of respect for his followers.

I was kind of making fun of people who think that she waited for this particular moment to strike. The logic just doesn't play out that way. -

I mean if she waited four years until he signed his rookie contract to file the civil suit that's quite the commitment and patience. -

I guess he can based off the change in the 2023 language. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/maxwell-hairston-sexual-assault-lawsuit-could-eventually-result-in-league-discipline -

Isn’t there something where they can’t be charged for something they did before being in NFL? -

No. The reassurances they'd extend the tax cuts and the deregulation should've produced the sugar high investor reaction like his first term. Blown opportunity with his tariffs as interest rates would be lower and the stock market would be higher. More small businesses, jobs, even lower inflation, etc...

It beats the alternative but his tariff crap has always been asinine.
