Tre White is the Best Player On the Bills Now
Logic replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They got their Mike. -
I think you're wrong here. I think it was a HUGE win. Why? It singlehandedly flipped the narrative of "another lost season for the Bills" (and make no mistake, 0-3 would've meant the season was effectively over) to "there's hope yet!". It filled the "hope" tank of many, many fans, both in terms of the defense's success and the offensive playcalling and execution. It was only Josh Allen's SECOND START in the NFL, and he beat an excellent opponent ON THE ROAD, handily. He showed command of the offense, made smart decisions, and gained the trust and respect of the entire team. It switched the Bills from national laughingstock -- so bad that Vontae Davis quit at halftime to avoid playing for them! -- to "scrappy underdogs on the rise" and stopped the laughing cold in its tracks. It was a huge win.

Are We The Worst Bills Fans Since The Polian Years?
Logic replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"We"? Speak for yourselves. Anyone who was "calling for Beane and McDermott's head" after the first two games of what is widely acknowledged as a rebuilding, take-your-cap-medicine season with a rookie QB at the helm is probably a reactionary dingbat. Anyone with even a lick of common sense would not want to see a GM fired in his FIRST FULL OFFSEASON with the team, for pete's sake! Ditto the head coach who led the team to the playoffs just one year prior. "We". Pffffff. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Preseason is Over
Logic replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To my eyes, the difference in Josh Allen between last week and this week was night and day. His mental processing was noticeably faster, and if he didn't see anything open, he took off and ran. His ability to be a threat running the ball, by the way, was highly underrated in the pre-draft process because everyone was so distracted by his arm and the accuracy debate. A lot of credit for this week's offensive success should go to Coach Daboll, too. He called a HECK of a game. There were a variety of screens, swing passes, and iso routes designed to simplify things for Allen and allow him to get the ball out quickly. My, what a difference it made! -
I just love the oversimplification of not looking at the long term outlook for said team, which was filled with bloated contracts and questionable character. I also love that you extol averaging 8 wins a year as a virtue, and as a sign that the team didn't need to be rebuilt.

Every Josh Allen snap in Bengals Preseason Game 3
Logic replied to cd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Once again: A lot of the fault for the poor offensive performance lies with the o-line. Anyone with eyes can see that. HOWEVER....Allen did not play well, either. He was slow to come off his first read, processed the defense poorly, and held the ball too long. He also had a few downright inaccurate throws. He himself admitted that he was a bit surprised by the speed of the Bengals' first string defense. Anyone who says the offensive struggles are SOLELY the fault of the o-line is mistaken, I'm afraid. Allen needs to improve. I think he will. -
It was so bad. The guy who opened the broadcast said the Bills went to the playoffs for the first time since 1990. Then the OTHER guy said "When in Buffalo, you've GOTTA get some BBQ!" It only got worse from there. Hey, it's preseason for broadcasters, too!

Calling Shananigans On the JA hate
Logic replied to GoodHands15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's the thing: That debacle against the Bengals was definitely NOT all Allen's fault. The offensive line was objectively terrible. Anyone with eyes knows that. BUT....Allen is not blameless. He was slow breaking down the huddle, which led him to have to hurry at the line, which led him to not be able to set his protections correctly, which exacerbated the protection issues. He was also slow to come off his first read, slow to process the defense, and held the ball too long. So again...the offensive line WAS awful, and the offensive failures WERE mostly their fault. But Josh Allen wasn't blameless. He has a lot to improve upon. -
Because the Bills have already (if all goes well) locked down three of the four most important positions in football: QB, LT, CB....the only one missing is a premiere edge rusher. I like Hughes and Murphy just fine, but they're no Khalil Mack. A premiere edge rusher (ESPECIALLY when combined with our elite secondary) can transform a defense. Also, when you draft a QB in the NFL, you get a five year window to hand out big contracts and build the team around him, before you have to pay said QB a big second contract. See the LA Rams for how this can look. So the Bills, having just drafted Josh Allen and having cleared the decks cap-wise the past two seasons, are suddenly going to be flush with cash and smack dab in the beginning of the "spend a lot and build the team around the QB while he's still cheap" period. THAT is why I want to be wrong, and I want Beane to take a risk and acquire Mack.
-
The fact that he is the best defensive player in the league. The Saints gave up next year's 1st rounder just to draft a pass rushing PROSPECT in this year's draft. Not even a proven guy. So you figure the starting point is a 1st rounder. From there, you figure the Raiders are going to need to fill the void left by Mack, hence the player(s) I included. What other teams have given up multiple assets for a non-QB? How about when the Eagles sent the Bills 1st, 4th, and 6th round picks for Jason Peters? Revis being traded to the Bucs for a high 1st round pick and an additional conditional draft pick. Anyone thinking the Bills can get Mack for just a 1st round pick is dreaming, in my estimation. It'll take something else to sweeten the pot -- ESPECIALLY if, as reported, there are about 12 interested teams.
-
The most obvious thing Buffalo could do to acquire Mack -- if the Raiders went for it, of course -- would be a position-for-position swap. If they get rid of Mack, they'll need an edge rushing presence. Jerry Hughes or Shaq Lawson (whichever they prefer....though I'm not sure why they'd prefer Lawson other than age), 2019 1st and 3rd round pick. That's the LEAST Buffalo could hope to spend in trade compensation, in my estimation. Are Bills fans prepared to go into next year's draft without 1st and 3rd round picks?
-
He's only "starting" tonight as part of the regular QB rotation. The head coach himself said that he still considers all three QBs to be on equal footing and the competition is still ongoing. The fans may have written off AJ McCarron, but I don't believe the coaching staff has done the same.
-
If Allen stinks tomorrow, then Peterman starts the season at QB and Allen goes back to developing and learning with no pressure, from the 3rd string position. Not rocket science.
-
On the one hand, I'd love it if Mack were a Bill, and I still believe in the importance of a quality edge rusher. On the other hand, I can't remember the last time someone paid mega money to a non-QB and it wound up having a huge impact on their team. Mario Williams, Ndamukong Suh, etc, etc....I just rarely see the impact match the pay grade.
-
I've been killing it online with the Bills this year. Josh Allen's arm strength makes it so that you can fit it into INSANE windows on posts and deep balls. Just don't try throwing drags our swing passes...they'll go 10 yards over the receivers' heads. If you play smart, realistic, varied zone defenses with the Bills, though, you will shut fools down. Believe that. If you can't succeed with the Bills, you need to up your Madden game!
-
The Bills already have 3 of the 4 most important positions set: QB, LT, CB.... They just need their franchise edge rusher. I believe Beane and McDermott are smart enough to know how Mack could transform their defense. They're also smart enough to know how well he would fit in, how popular he'd be in Buffalo, and how happy he'd likely be to return "home". The only problem is...12 other teams are gunning for him, too.

I also love that Trump supporters -- members of the "law and order party" and who chanted "Lock her up!" as recently as, oh...TODAY -- are now having to take the position of defending the ever more indefensible crimes and actions of the assorted cadre of shady slugs that cling to Trump like stink to ****. Cosmic comedy.
