  1. I don't know about "favorite" Brady moment, I don't have one of those. I can tell you one I'll never forget, though... Bills-Pats, Sunday Night Football, 2007. The game was flexed to SNF because the Pats were undefeated. Tom threw four first half touchdowns to Randy Moss (!!!), and the Patriots ultimately won 56-10. I'll never forget Belichick going for it on 4th down late into the game, or Dick Jauron opting to kick a field goal when down 49-7. The most crushing and thoroughly dominant defeat I ever witness live from the bleachers. It was like a Texas varsity high school team was taking on a Pop Warner team from Hawaii.
  2. In all seriousness...for the sake of continuity, and if this is what Josh wanted, and if this is who the notoriously meticulous Beane and McDermott think is best for the job...then I'm all for it. Seems like a bright guy that brings great energy to the sidelines and has a great relationship with Josh. Is it too much to hope for that he somehow installs a reasonable screen game? It's probably too much, right? I'll pump the brakes.
  3. Anyone ever read about the mysteries and tribulations of the number 23? It's, uh....it's a long story. Definitely an interesting one, though.
  4. That beautiful, hairy lunatic really should get "Buffalo Bill for life" status. What a gem.
  5. People make such simple abstractions, like "why would the Bills want a WR coach from a bad passing offense?!", as if the performance of an entire unit of offensive football (and of a quarterback, for that matter) boil down to how good a job the WR coach was doing. Given that Beane and McDermott have known that Daboll's exit was likely coming for about two seasons now, and that they're two of the most diligent, meticulous planners on the planet....you'd like to think that they've given this A LOT of thought. I'm not saying we should mindlessly trust whatever decision they ultimately wind up making, but I AM saying that they have more information, more insight, and have devoted A LOT more time and research to this hire than any one on this board. Anyone they think is worth interviewing for such an important job during such an important juncture of their Bills careers, probably IS worth interviewing.
  6. I think it's a reasonable observation. For whatever reason, some teams DO seem to have a certain eye for drafting and developing certain positions. For years, the Steelers have been drafting receivers throughout every round that almost always (with but a few exceptions) turn into very good players. Likewise, the Bills seem to always have a well stocked cupboard of corners, safeties and, historically (though not necessarily at this moment), running backs. We also haven't been able to consistently draft or develop tight ends (with very few exceptions) for our entire 60 year history. I don't know how to account for certain teams' ability/inability to scout certain positions more effectively or to train players at said positions. What's strange to me is that this effect sometimes seems to transcend specific front offices and coaching staffs, as well, and to persist over the course of time, regardless of who is running the show. Perhaps one of our resident "guys who always have answers for every topic" can step in and offer some explanation?
  7. "All phenomena are real in some sense, unreal in some sense, meaningless in some sense, real and meaningless in some sense, unreal and meaningless in some sense, and real and unreal and meaningless in some sense." - Robert Anton Wilson
  8. The Giants are in the same situation the Bills were in a few seasons ago of having a bloated cap number and wanting to "take their medicine" all in one season. Schoen is gonna do it just like Beane did it, which means an absolute blood letting. I predict there's gonna be a HUGE exodus of players from the Giants' roster. Whether and to what degree the Bills will be interested in any of them remains to be seen, but it's gonna be a blood bath.
  9. I haven't read through the six pages of conversation before posting this, but... All of the "Josh is going to have a tough 2021!" predictions seemed to work out pretty well for Josh, all things considered, so let's keep this tradition going. I suggest someone start one of these threads before every season from now until Josh retires. Don't wanna mess up a good thing.
  10. "Now HERE's a guy..."
  11. Two things: 1. Cincinnati had absolutely no way of knowing which teams they'd play in either scenario, so it's doubtful to me that they planned accordingly. 2. I was on team "1 seed or bust" before this season, but the Bengals and Rams were both 4 seeds. So...yeah. Naturally, it's easier to make the Super Bowl by only having to beat two teams instead of three, but...it certainly doesn't seem to be the ironclad advantage that many think it is. Lord knows the Titans and Packers didn't look great after a week off.
  12. I don't know absolutely anything about Tee Martin as a candidate, but it's not going to stop me from LOUDLY PROCLAIMING STRONGLY WORDED DECLARATIONS OF OPINION AND DECRYING ANYONE WHO DARES TO DISAGREE WITH ME!!!!!!!
  13. Here's the reason I think Allen has finally caught up to, and surpassed, Mahomes: He is asked to do much more, and he does more with less. To the first point: How many times in a Chiefs game do you see Mahomes hit a wide open receiver who rips off 30+ yards after the catch? Constantly. That's scheme. For whatever reason, Andy Reid has been masterful at scheming YAC into his offense, and for whatever reason, Daboll has not. It's not as if we don't have receivers that should be able to accrue YAC: McKenzie, Diggs, and Knox should all be great YAC guys. It sure feels like a 30 yard pass play for Josh Allen usually means he threw it 30 yards and the receiver caught it and got tackled. In KC, a 30 yard pass play often looks like a six yard completion followed by 24 yards after the catch. To the second point: as good as Diggs, Davis, Beasley, and Knox are, and as good as Daboll is/was...they're not on the level of Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Andy Reid, respectively. Given the overall team speed that KC has, the all-world, HOF caliber tight end they have, and the all time great offensive mind they have calling plays, I would argue that Mahomes enjoys significant schematic and personnel advantages over Allen. Yes, Allen has to start winning awards and probably a ring for everyone to consider him Mahomes' equal. In terms of pure talent, though? I believe Allen has caught, and surpassed, Patrick Mahomes. There's a reason Mahomes sought out Josh Allen after the game and sprinted right to him to dap him up. I think that even Mahomes know that Allen is the only dude in the NFL truly on his level.
  14. I very rarely skip Super Bowls. The last one was the Pats-Falcons Super Bowl. A good choice on my part. I was absolutely planning to skip this one. Figured it'd be the Chiefs, and I had no interest in watching them. Now that it's Bengals-Rams, I can actually watch! I truly have no feel for which team will win. I didn't expect the Bengals to get this far and wouldn't have thought they'd beat the Chiefs, so why couldn't they also beat the Rams? On the other hand, the Rams have so many great players -- Donald, Miller, Ramsey, Kupp, Beckham -- that I wouldn't be surprised in the last if they won it. Should be a fun one.
  15. Harbaugh will have the Dolphins being perennial contenders if he signs on as head coach there. Oh well. They still don't have Josh Allen.
  16. Can Ridley call logical defense with 13 seconds left in crunch time of the biggest game of the year? If so, bring him in.
  17. I get the point. MY point is that there have been a few dozen instances since 1994 of a team going up by at least 3 and kicking the ball off with less than 15 seconds left on the clock. None of those teams lost. NONE of them. What the Bills did was historically inept and improbable. I understand why the kickoff mattered. But people also need to understand why the kickoff wasn't the main thing that cost us the game -- the defensive playcalling that followed it was.
  18. Just wanted to say it was obvious from the broadcast what a loud and imposing atmosphere it was. Makes Josh's performance all the more legendary. This whole season was about gaining home field in the playoffs against the Chiefs, and the Bills couldn't get it done. I agree that going forward, the goal every year needs to be to ensure that our playoff matchup against the Chiefs is played in Buffalo.
  19. Gosh. What kind of arrogant GOONS would weaponize donating to charity just to rub a game outcome in the opposition's faces?! Just kidding. Thanks, Chiefs fans.
  20. I really, really hope this happens. Vance Joseph just seems like a worse version of Brian Flores. Please let this be true.
  21. The only thing I'll say here is that if the Bills go for two there and DON'T get it, and the Chiefs kick a field goal in regulation to win it.....all of Bills mafia and the football watching world would be absolutely SCREAMING at the mismanagement by McDermott. The way things played out at least gave the Bills the CHANCE to win it in overtime. As it turned out, of course, McDermott mismanaged the ending and the Bills lost the game ANYWAY, but... I just mean to point out that when it comes to Monday Morning Armchair Coaching, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
