The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Boatdrinks replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
And thanks for asking, btw. Just wanted to dispel this narrative that is still out there about testing. Not enough tests, etc. sports talk show hosts still mention when talking about leagues starting up that they have to figure out testing without taking tests away from the public. That may have been an issue at one time, but not anymore. There are plenty of tests. -

That was precisely my point to Tibs. Doesn’t mean a thing. -

Results were negative: not detected. I don’t have any symptoms, just trying to help out w testing in Erie County. They’ve been testing asymptomatics for a few weeks now. Waiting in antibody results, but those are not part of Quomo benchmarks. -

And the area hit hardest by Covid 19 in the entire world voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton in 2016. What are we to glean from that ? -
Anybody want to go on record about Josh?

I’ll say other. Allen gets a second contract with the Bills, is a top half of the league QB but doesn’t regularly make the top ten in passing statistics. He will lead the Bills to the playoffs and win. He will have his fans, and his detractors because he never fits into the neat little category that pundits say is a top ten NFL QB. -

I’d say they probably can. I called NYS DOHC for test on Monday, scheduled for Tuesday. Went to drive thru testing site- was done and out in 5 minutes. I have insurance, but it’s not required at this site. Got results yesterday , so 48 hours. Have another test scheduled for next week, seems like there are more tests than people seeking them. -

If New Yorkers (and I’m in western NY not NYC) weren’t persona non grata in Florida I’d be visiting within the next 2 weeks. Literally going nuts here and the weather has sucked all spring. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Nope. We’re now off in 3 metrics. Deaths ( pretty dependent on who gets the virus, not how much of it is around), Hospitalizations (lots of anecdotal evidence around that hospitals are classifying almost anything as Covid 19 for higher reimbursement rates) and something else that we weren’t sub par in a few days ago. Many of these benchmarks are kind of irrelevant and it’s a bit of a one size fits all approach. I think we got our testing up ( I got tested Tuesday, results were online today : not detected. Yay ! Another test scheduled for next week. Heck I’ll take one weekly if they want. Still waiting on antibody test results. Anyway, we’re screwed for another two weeks I think. -
I’m talking about Erie County specifically. It’s going to be hard / impossible to meet that benchmark. Not because we are horribly affected by Covid overall, but the criteria puts too much weight on who is getting it. Demographics are different in different regions of NYS, and yes I think NYC should be the last by far due to the impact there.

Oh, suicides will go up and up. No doubt about that. Republicans want to get the country reopened, as the data gleaned from a couple months of lockdowns would indicate. They’re not going to be strong armed by the Dems, with their taxpayer funded bailouts of poorly run states that were already bleeding money, or relief only given with liberal BS attached to it. If the DEMS can propose a realistic bill that actually helps people without garbage attached they will listen. -
Are there any racist institutions? How and why.

I thought the DA seemed kinda shady in this initially. -
Couldn’t agree more. Why is the outcome of those who get Covid 19 important to opening up ? Shouldn’t the goal be hospital capacity and proper care for those who contract it ? Why aren’t we counting recoveries , including those who recover at home ? The outcome shouldn’t affect the ability of others to earn a living. Cuomo’s guidelines are pretty much impossible for most areas of NY. He has no intention of opening up, just of tanking the NY economy and using the crisis to bailout his mismanaged mess.

Losers didn’t have PlayStation or smartphones to entertain themselves. They’d yell if you were a hot girl, they’d yell if you looked like a dork , or gay, or whatever. It wasn’t seen as cool to jog. -

What on Earth does “ hate crime” ( an invention of the left) or environmental “ justice” whatever the heck that is, have to do with Covid 19 relief for people who have been forced from their jobs by the government imposed shutdown ? -

My goodness , that excuse for a newspaper has labeled everything as racist. Including America itself . How is the act of putting on some sneakers and going for a jog racist? Only to the most demented individual does that make any sense. They talk about marketing. Who are expensive , endorsed basketball shoes marketed to ? Is that racist ? To the New York Times, just being a Caucasian US citizen makes you a racist. Just demented, disgusting people at that outfit. -

I still have video clip of Fauci saying masks are unnecessary and may give a false sense of security. That was his first answer to that question. -

Back at home, it seems the Democratic Governors have been far more authoritarian than not. -
Safe is the most overused term in this and it’s a lie. No one is safe from a virus.
-
We already have some limits, even in NYS. Such as the workers comp law. I think some reasonable limits are in order here. Also, no one is forced to go back to work, ever. You work on a voluntary basis. You can stay home forever if you want.
-
Some kind of limitation will be needed. Even though proving where someone got a virus would be difficult, too many liberal judges. That’s why New York State is such a cesspool and we pay so much for car insurance etc. maybe you sign a waiver to get a job. Anyway, if I work at your business and I get Covid 19 , was your business negligent ? Or did I not wish my hands etc. lots of people are slobs, as evidenced by the spread of this stuff.
-
Business owners are people. Anyway, lots of arbitrary lawsuits could come about by gold diggers if it’s not addressed. Reasonable precautions can be taken and some will still get virus. Nothing is foolproof. No one has an innate right not to get a virus. It’s a risk anytime one is in a communal setting.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

But we won’t in WNY because Cuomo says we can’t have more than a few hospitalizations even though we have capacity. Apparently if more healthy individuals that can quarantine in their homes get Covid 19 then we might reopen. If less healthy get it, we’re stuck.
