The chiefs are 15x better than everyone else
Boatdrinks replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
15x better ? Lol, massive hyperbolic take. -
Nope. Their game plan in October was much better, but Josh played poorly among other things. It was a 6 point game in the 4th quarter. I’d have taken that tonight coupled with a better effort on Offense. McD won the first meeting with Reid back in 2017. I do think he was extremely conservative tonight and it cost them. I don’t think he’s scared of the Chiefs, but needs to admit when a game is going to be a shootout and play accordingly.

32 rush yards from our running backs
Boatdrinks replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was exposed, but not unexpected. You dance with who brung ya at this point though, and I’m not sure the Bills did that tonight. Josh Allen not having at least one rushing TD in this game was inexcusable. Daboll was hugely underwhelming tonight, and McD couldn’t resist extremely conservative decisions when it was obvious TDs were going to be needed. The Bills will want to address the RB spot in the off-season, but I believe tonight’s game was winnable with the players they had. -
1/24/21 AFC Championship Game Postgame Thread
Boatdrinks replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A somewhat disturbing ending to a mostly excellent season. I’d certainly have been fine with a close, competitive loss, but this was something else. This felt very much like the ‘90s Super Bowl losses ( aside from XXV) and last year’s Houston loss rolled into one. The final quarter was into embarrassing territory. The coaching staff did not acquit themselves well, and the settling for FGs Vs an offense like the Chiefs was almost Jauron- like conservative. I loved Allen’s season, but tonight won’t do much to remove the negative narratives on him. About as bad an end to a great season that one could imagine. -
And even those are just very educated guesses. These Championship games are often intriguing because of their ability to surprise us as football fans. No one knows what will happen, what strategies will be employed and what players will rise to the occasion that may not be household names. Go Bills!!

Good call. I remember that one, but not fondly lol. -
NFL AFC history on #1 vs #2 in the champ. game

A rare #1 vs #2 overall seed matchup. I kinda like your data here. Seems like a #2 seed blowout win on the road is overdue! -

Buffalo Bills vs Chiefs who's going

No, you do not need to be tested to attend the game. There’s a new restriction on flying to US requiring a Covid test to board the plane, but that doesn’t start until Jan 26. Good luck and go Bills!!! -
It’s already been done, and it was really good. Was on the 1988 WGR Bills fan mania (or something like that ) cassette lol. I still have it somewhere, but would probably take me a month to find it! It consisted of about ten classic songs remade with Buffalo Bills lyrics. The song you mention was turned into “ the Bills are back” . Might have been the first track on side 1 iirc. Anyway, there were other good ones like “ get ready” , and Beat the NY Jets “ you guessed it Bennie and the Jets . It wasn’t Karaoke either, the tracks were all remade at a local studio with session players but they did a great job. Reminds me of the excitement back in those years.

Buffalo Bills vs Chiefs who's going

I’m on the fence currently. The AFCC tix ( upper level) can now be had for mid $ 600 range per ducat, but not too interested in sitting there. Bills lower bowl sideline or corner are still around $1100 -1800 per. Those really haven’t moved much since Sunday. Next day or so will determine. -
Not directed at you John, but that’s no matter. You’re certainly entitled to your opinion and I respect that. It’s unfortunate that “ truth “ has become self validating narratives for journalists who were once unbiased. I’m sincere as well. Cheers and I’ve always enjoyed your contributions to the board.

I’d like to culturally cancel about 97% of “ reporters”.

Do you like the term “Bills Mafia”?
Boatdrinks replied to Lionel Hutz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love it. Loose translation of mafiusu from Sicilian dialect means “ bravado, swagger , or boldness” it’s unique to Bills fans and I liked it the first time I heard it.- 183 replies

Gamblers Thread: Bills @ Chiefs Championship game
Boatdrinks replied to T&C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting ; I figured the initial line was based on the expectation that Mahomes plays. That they kinda baked that in. It seemed the prevailing opinion was Mahomes walked off the field and the injury wasn’t likely to keep him out. I’d be surprised if this line was based on Henne starting at QB. Just my opinion , of course. I’m not much of a gambler, so what do I know ? -
NFL changes 2021 Scouting Combine Format
Boatdrinks replied to sirebors's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally sucks. PUTRID decision. Glad the combine isn’t as relevant to the Bills this spring. -
This game stacks up really well, imo. The offense is at least as high powered as the best of those Bills teams. The ‘88 team was sort of the outlier of the Kelly era championship games. Kelly was in just his third season with the Bills, and the ‘87 season was a strike shortened one. The offense featured a rookie Thurman Thomas, and Reed had established himself but they weren’t running the K Gun / no huddle yet. They were a stout defense with good STs, but the passing offense was somewhat lacking. They were underdogs to the Bengals and hadn’t beaten them in quite some time. The ‘90 team was high powered offense, pretty solid defense and were favored vs the Raiders but not by a lot. They had beaten the Raiders in OP in September of that season with a late comeback, and had the home field on the basis of that win. 1991 was the best statistical season for Kelly and the offense , and the Bills were favored over the Broncos. To everyone’s surprise , the game was a defensive struggle rather than the high flying offensive display fans expected. 1992 brought a wildcard playoff run with just a single home game - the famous comeback vs the Oilers. The Reich-led Bills knocked off the top seeded Steelers in Pittsburgh then headed to Miami as a road favorite for the Championship game. Lastly the ‘ 93 team was weakened by the debut of free agency in the NFL - the Bills were stacked and the initial NFL salary cap was low. Other teams feasted on the Bills’ roster as they simply couldn’t keep everyone. That development accelerated the Bills decline, especially along the OL. This Bills team reminds me most of the 90 and 91 teams, just without a Thurman Thomas type RB. Thomas was the NFL’s MVP in 1991, which illustrates the difference in today’s passing game standards.
