  1. Our front 7 in general had a lot of problems the first 45 minutes. Give credit to their O line.
  2. People are concerned about his tackling ability
  3. There’s a reason Simmons hasn’t played in over a year, and why Peppers got cut by Vrabel. And it’s easy to just say we can trade for a stud safety without any clue whether anyone is available.
  4. If I was going to make any change right now I’d consider Lewis for Rapp
  5. Their O line dominated the first 3 quarters.
  6. And how did Coleman look yesterday? Sometimes young players need time. Who is the stud you refer to?
  7. Sure. Let’s just order up a stud. I hear they’re on Amazon Prime. I think Jackson has shown that his tendency is to falter in big games.
  8. The Ravens are a pretty unique challenge with Henry and Jackson. Improvement is needed and the younger guys need more experience to be sure. Everyone was saying how great the Ravens D is; wonder what their fans are saying this morning.
  9. Not as good as they could be, but not nearly as bad as many believe.
  10. I don’t mind Collinsworth. Color analysts always get criticized no matter what.
  11. Their O line flat out dominated us until the 4th quarter, outside of a couple great plays by Ed. The Ravens are pretty unique in the league being able to run the ball with Jackson and Henry.
  12. I absolutely do. Being able take Henry on head to head is way different than trying to grab him from the side when he’s running with a full head of steam. Bishop clearly has room to improve, as most second year guys do, but it seems he is going to be the guy singled out by the fans this year for criticism. That is a tradition that goes back to 1960; find a punching bag and beat on it. From Richie Lucas through Bishop, including guys like Kelsey, Edmunds, Jeff Wright, and many others, it’s a time honored tradition.
  13. Bro, I asked about safeties and you give me word salad. As I put in my other thread, sometimes the other guy is just better, and their O line dominated the first 3 quarters.
  14. Look at the angle this guy has vs. the angle Bishop had. You’ve given us a classic example of over the top criticism.
  15. Thinking back the best safeties in franchise history were Saimes, Tony Greene, Henry Jones, Leonard Smith, Hyde, Poyer, maybe guys like Jeff Nixon and Kelso a tier or two behind. Other than Hyde were any converted CBs?
  16. I completely agree.
  17. Is there a safety in the league that tackles Henry there?
  18. I’m curious where folks saw glaring issues. In run support there isn’t much any safety in the league can do if asked to tackle either Henry or Jackson one on one. They could have closed better in coverage but it looked to me like we played more man than usual. And I don’t think I heard Andrew’s name all night, although I’m not sure if the safeties had responsibility for him. i will freely admit there are many here with more advanced knowledge of defense than me, but sometimes I think as a fan group we reflexively jump on the safeties when the other team has a good day on offense. Maybe we were spoiled by Hyde and Poyer.
  19. I think he lost Flowers on the crossing pattern when he scored.
  20. I think this buttresses my main point. If Harbaugh does that and they don’t make it, he hands the game to us. Punting put it on our offense vs. their defense, and Josh, Palmer, and Coleman made great plays.
  21. What a night! What a game! In the aftermath today we’ll do the usual stuff about who played good, and equally who played bad. We’ve already seen a lot of guys on our D get ripped to shreds. But what if the real explanation is just that, sometimes, the other guy simply plays better than your guy? As I watched the game last night, I was incredibly impressed by their O line. To me they dominated the game the first 3 quarters. They cleared the way for Henry to be what he is, a first ballot HOF RB that is an absolute load. Last night and this morning I see our LBs and safeties getting ripped, but they had many times when their O line got to the second level on our LBs, and there is not a safety in this league that can consistently take on a RB like Henry one on one. Flowers is an All Pro and made great plays as one would expect. I wonder if the Ravens fans today are blaming their guys for playing bad, when they had to take on the current league MVP playing at his best. Our O line did a great job at pass protection, and guys like Coleman and Palmer made great plays. Cook on that long pass and tun showed exceptional talent. So to me rather than trying to assign blame, I prefer to recognize great performances on both sides of the ball last night. To me it wasn’t so much what guys played bad, but how great some guys played on both teams.
  22. Both Palmer and Coleman showed up big on that last drive. They each got separation, the thing people have complained about the entire off season. And Shakir was Shakir. We’re in good hands literally and figuratively.
  23. That fan should be gone for life. The Mafia is better than that.
  24. You seem fixated on negatives. What do you reasonably expect safeties to do when the front 7 gets their butt kicked like happened the first 3 quarters?
