gug...what's the name of that whacked out little amusement park for kids in lake george. it's the one where someone looked like they designed it on acid. storybook land or something like that. we're coming back up to lake george this summer, and someone told me it was turned into something else...a dinosaur park maybe? it was great for the kids.

this is where i'm at. my parents will both be 80 in a few months, so time becomes more precious. the strange thing is that i don't come from an affectionate family at all. our show of love is usually busting someone's balls without mercy. still, my parents made us give hugs/kisses when we let the house in the morning, came home and night, and before bed. that didn't go on as we got older, but we always still hug and kiss when we see each other. i just give my brother a hug, (no kiss) and the nieces and nephews are always a big hug.

i can make this far more weird. i think of part of it is definitely cultural. i completely get it when people don't do it either. i certainly don't think it means a lack of affection. just preference.

I had a fairly strange question, so why not start a thread of them. so...do you, (did you) kiss your dad. Not the open mouth/heavy petting kind, but a kiss on the cheek when you see each other? I do every time I see my dad, whether or not it’s in public. A colleague and I were talking about it, and he felt it was a bit much. He’s more of a handshake kind of guy which I completely understand. Maybe it’s an Italian thing, but I kiss all of my family when I see them. Just kinda curious.

Scharfenberger to close Buffalo's Christ the King Seminary

that place scares me. i'm not sure about the specifics of lutheranism, but this church just about made the pope's head explode. -

this is exactly where i'm at with it. as someone who went to 16 years of catholic schooling and even has an uncle that's a priest, i'm done. i just can't over look the deception and lying. they took advantage of kids and allowed it to continue, yet they want to guide me through my spiritual life? no ***** way. there is a branch of the catholic church that has broken away in this area. think if it as a uber liberal form of catholicism. they allow women priests, allow anyone to receive communion, and even married my aunt and her partner in front of the entire congregation. they had standing applause after. as someone with multiple gay family members, and a wife that isn't catholic, it's worked for us, (not that i go often...at all). agreed. i think that years ago, many went into the priesthood to hide something about themselves. it's sad. -

people are also using the .500 record for this staff in a strange way...as a total negative. i get it's not a great win/loss record, but why not mention that they've been to the play offs 2 out of the three years here? doesn't kyle shannahan have a worse 3 year record over that last three than mcd and staff. he made it to the superbowl, so who cares about the 3 year record. this team is in better shape now than they were before this staff took over. i have no idea what the next few year will hold, but as of now i'm very optimistic. others...well, they just like to whine. -

well you certainly implied it didn't you? not once did you mention money or a situation where an offer wasn't good enough. if you don't want people putting words in your mouth, be more clear. personally, i think you were implying that mcd wasn't strong willed enough to deal with high profile players, and once you reflected on how absurd that sounded, you're backtracking. be clear and that wouldn't happen. i do agree that money matters, and that a sizable contract is going to be needed to keep tre. he's their guy, and if they don't pay him, i'll be shocked and greatly disappointed. they need to pay their talent, and tre had been everything they wanted and needed him to be. -

i think some like to turn the letting dareus and watkins go as a sign that mcd can't deal with strong personalities, which is nonsense. those two showed me that they have anything but a strong personality. they were guys that had obvious work ethic issues, and that was the exact culture the staff is trying to reverse. people may not agree with the move, but turning it into a mcd can't handle it scenario is just foolish. -

is your though that since tre is more of an elite talent, mcd won't sign him because he can't handle him? -

oh i remember. i don't know why people go so far out of the way to find negatives. it's not a finished product, but i'm happy with where this team is going.
