  1. Not really sure why you say Kyle rarely talks. He's given plenty of interviews already this offseason. Here's another one from just the other day. http://www.wgr550.com/articles/news/williams-expects-overall-improvement-defense "It really wasn't this big, agonizing decision. I always wanted to play," Williams said with Howard Simon and Jeremy White on WGR Thursday morning. "It was just the question mark of what our new direction was going to be and if [the team] wanted me to be a part of it. When I talked to Sean [McDermott], he was like, 'Yeah, we definitely want you to be part of it.' That's really as far as the conversation really went. I said, 'If you want me to play and you want me back, I'm definitely in to play.' So here we are: year number-12, getting ready to go."
  2. Good read. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait for Sunday!! I am really pulling for Tyrod to play well. I knew what we were seeing in preseason wasn't the offense. They were working on specific little sets of plays each preseason game. Very anxious to see what this offense truly looks like. Hopefully execution will be at a good level. Sucks that TT didn't get to play much in preseason again. We seen what happened last season when Rex was too scared of injury to play any of the starters. It took TT and the offense a couple of games to get in sync. Hope that doesn't happen this year.
  3. Losing Gillislee sucked, but I'm still not ready to put 100% of the blame on McDermott. I am sure he was heavily involved, but The Gillislee original round tender and not matching is exactly the same thing that happened with Hogan the year before. Seems like Whaley's MO to me. At the very least I think McDermott was relying heavily on Whaley & his staff for their help with personnel evaluations, and I'd be willing to bet that Whaley thought that J. Williams could step right in and fill Gillislee's role, just like Gillislee did with Karlos Williams. Or Whaley thought he could replace Gilly with that 5th round pick (where he drafted both Karlos and Jonathan Williams). McDermott hadn't been here long st that point and hadn't coached these guys yet, maybe hadn't even met em... It's a moot point though, because we will probably never know for sure, and I'm not saying that it wasn't 100% McDermott. I'm just saying that I don't like assuming it was because none of us know. Anyway... honestly I'd take Nate Peterman over Gillislee at this point (we used the Pats 5th to draft him). QB is a much greater area of need for this team than backup RB is.
  4. Damn... that's a huge blow to that KC defense. I feel bad for Berry. That guy has been through quite a lot in the last few years.
  5. As happy as I was to see the Patriots struggle as that game went on (I Loved seeing Brady being repeatedly knocked on his ass in the 4th quarter), I'm not reading too much into it yet. They've started out seasons slow before. Belichick will have that team playing well by the time we face them. I remember talks in previous years of "this might be the year the Patriots and Brady start going downhill" only to be severely disappointed. They've owned the division for far too long for me to believe that they won't again this year until I actually See it happen. It'd sure be great though if they truly did struggle this year.
  6. I'll take this version of Alex smith in Buffalo next year, if KC wants to dump him for Mahomes...
  7. Great game. I think we can forget about possibly getting anything but a late 1st from KC... (not that I really expected anything other than that anyway)
  8. Not sure if this has been posted anywhere, but Tyrod Taylor will be featured on NFL Network's Tackle My Ride, where he will help a lucky Bills fan's car get an extreme makeover - http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/09/buffalo_bills_tyrod_taylor_to_be_featured_on_nfl_networks_tackle_my_ride.html#incart_river_index Wish it was my car getting tricked out!
  9. Damn, Brady literally had All Day to throw there.
  10. I'm not actually sitting here rooting them on or anything. I am just enjoying plays made by both teams, while hope the Chiefs lose since we hold their draft pick and are more likely to be competing against them for a wild card spot than against the Pats for the division (not that either of those scenarios are all that likely anyway).
  11. I'm still rooting for the Pats guys. I know we all hate them, but what's best for Buffalo is the Pats winning and I Always want what's best for Buffalo, no matter what.
  12. It's a very hard offense to defend against when executed properly.
  13. Pats don't look all that great against the run so far.
  14. Just curious. What exactly would you be trying to accomplish by doing this? You'll just be passing off your fellow fans, the way I see it. Will that make you feel better about losing him? It's not like Bills decision makers read this board.
  15. Holy crap what a freaking pass by Brady. The first 5 minutes of this game confirm that nobody in the AFC east stands a chance this year and winning the division (not that we all didn't know that already). I hate the Pats, but damn do I respect what they are able to do on the field year in and year out. It's hard not to be just a little jealous of that franchise.
  16. What did you expect? He only comes here to complain.
  17. Chiefs look like crap so far. Either that or the Pats are just That good...
  18. That was a good read. Thanks for sharing. I particularly liked this quote - “We’re new, and we’re adding to the roster, and taking away from the roster,” McDermott said. “It’s a little more of a constant, constant, constant focus on the standard. Because if you don’t, that culture’s gonna grow up around you in the form of weeds. If you don’t manage the culture, develop the culture on a daily basis, it’s going to grow around you whether you like it or not"
  19. I agree. Whaley was good at scouting pro personnel, and decent (to good at times) at scouting college players. But he was poor at most other aspects of running and assembling a team. I can't remember where I read it but I also remember reading after he left that there were players on the team that questioned how truly dedicated he was. They said he would sit and play on his phone during important meetings and stuff like that. And Rex, for all his talk of "all in" was the last guy in the building in the morning and the first one to leave. I think he liked the idea of being able to say he was a head coach and all the publicity that came with it but I don't think he actually liked putting in all the meticulous work that it entailed. I think these quotes also go to show that Rex and Whaley were never working anywhere near in lockstep together like this new GM and coach are. McDermott and Beane seem to discuss every little detail. For Rex to obviously not even have been part of the discussion as to what type of tag to apply to Hogan, that tells me that they likely didn't even sit and discuss it together. Whaley just made a decision on his own is the way it appears to me. Whether that was because Rex didn't care to be involved or Whaley didn't care to involve him (or both) I don't know.
  20. Here is more from Rex on Hogan, Gillislee and Gilmore - https://www.patspulpit.com/2017/9/6/16263410/rex-ryan-bills-jets-patriots-julian-edelman-chris-hogan-mike-gillislee-stephon-gilmore-belichick RR: “Let’s just say I wasn’t real happy. You know at first, here’s what happened, this is how uninformed I was at that time. I’m thinking, okay, well we get a second round pick. So I was disappointed, but I’m like, anyway we’ll get a second round pick so that’s pretty cool. No, the tender wasn’t high enough. So that’s when I left the office, was not happy. Let’s just put it that way. Then the fact that you gotta go against the guy. That was, but that’ sit. That’s what he does. He’ll make a team worse and make his own team better.
  21. Show them the way to be a professional athlete. You need some good veteran players in the dressing room that the younger guys will actually listen to and follow their example. The NFL is a whole different world/animal compared to college. It's a league filled with the best football players in the entire world. Sometimes winning or losing a game comes down to a handful of plays or having just a slight edge over your competition. And sometimes the difference between a guy having a good good or great career comes down to the way they practice and prepare. There are so many things that good veteran players can show the younger guys. Like showing them the right way to practice on a daily basis, how to properly prepare for a game, how to handle the media, how to handle the pressure during games and in crucial moments, what they're seeing on the field during games, how to carry themselves on and off the field, the right way to work out (setting the right example in the gym etc), how to study film properly (think about what a good veteran player could add to a meeting room when reviewing film, all the things they see that a rookie doesn't). That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are tons more things a good veteran player can teach a younger guy. I'm sure they know all sorts of tips and tricks of the trade. IMO, you need that veteran leadership and guidance on the field and in the locker room. You need guys like that to bring the younger guys along right (especially the rookies and guys in their first few years). I would think it has to be a lot harder for younger guys to find their way in the NFL with a locker room void of good veteran players.
  22. I'll never forget watching a game on TV and listening to the freaking TV announcers actually calling the next play & commenting about how easy to predict it was... Speaking of which - On NFL's twitter account they post every snap certain rookie players take, and back in week 1 or 2 of preseason I watched one on Leonard Fournette (Jacksonville rookie RB). Almost every single run they called for him was right up the middle. Brought back memories... lol.
  23. Here's the exact quote - Whatever it takes to win the game. Thats how we play the game. We play to win. Whatever it takes to win the game thats what were going to do, McDermott said. If it means hes got to play every snap, thats what well do. If hes feeling good, like with every player, well look him in the eye and say, How do you feel? You feel good? Lets go. No different with LeSean. http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/09/06/bills-jets-sean-mcdermott-lesean-mccoy-could-play-every-snap/ Here is the press conference video if you like to see it in full context (the question on McCoy starts right around the 10:00 mark) - http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Dennison_Encouraged_Everyone_Was_Out_There/56b59470-9a24-4f68-aa5b-b8e2c399a999
  24. So great to hear Kyle Okposo is better and ready to play this season. He has already become a leader and such a big part of this team.
  25. Do you have any links to these reports. I'm not saying I don't believe you or anything like that. I have just been hearing some around here say this for a while and have never seen any links to confirm it. I have tried looking myself on a few different occasions and haven't been able to find anything. I am just curious to read theses reports is all. All the reports I could find, or remember, were about him supposedly being "in love" with deshaun Watson before the draft. The only thing I could find about him and Mahomes were those reports about him not drafting Mahomes being the last straw that led to his firing (which I think is total BS).
